Here's my complete factual experience with this product. You can draw your own conclusions.

I originally bought the Airtamer for use on airplanes, as most do. I have flown Delta and American, and there has never been an issue with wearing it. Before I bought it I used to get sick regularly after traveling. In the years since I bought it, this has never happened again.

I am also a teacher and getting older and more prone to illness. Two years ago I got sick 5 times during the school year. Last school year I got sick 5 times before Christmas. So, I decided to try wearing the Airtamer at school as well as on airplanes, and began Jan. 1, 2014. It is now Dec. 3, 2014, and I have not had a cold since (knock wood!).

I also noticed that, since I started wearing it daily, my usual allergies have been diminished. I find that if I have an allergy attack and turn on the Airtamer, the attack usually goes away with 10 minutes, often less.

So, there you have it. Perhaps I'm just engaging in a big false cause fallacy, but it seems to me that it has worked pretty darned well.
**Update 2/7/16: It has been more than 2 years now since I started wearing this every day. I'm superstitious and don't want to jinx it, so I'll just say that the story I tell above, as it relates both to allergies and to lack of illness, is, so far, unchanged.

Best allergy defense after 40 years of trying everything else

This air purification device was purchased to provide assistance at a time when smoke from California forest fires was creating poor air quality for days, weeks and months at a time--but little did we realize just how effective this seemingly small device truly is. The difference this personal air purifier makes is dramatically noticeable, even when other air filters are in use, which I find astonishing and remarkable. The AirTamer literally knocks all particulates out of the air in the immediate area, leaving no chance of any germs, airborne allergens, or particle pollution getting through at all.

The portability of the AirTamer makes it possible to take it everywhere we go. One AirTamer makes a huge difference for two people, if you happen to stick close together, so the air inside your car on long trips or when dining at a restaurant feels fresh and pristine.

The remarkable thing to me on a very personal level is that after 40 years of struggling with seasonal allergies, not to mention the more recent addition of also struggling with breathing when tiny airborne particulates are floating around as well, one tiny device could so completely clear the air. I realize now that if my doctors had recommended this device to me when I was first diagnosed with allergies as a teenager in high school, I would have been able to breathe easily without ever having had to get allergy shots, take allergy prescription medication, or suffer through decades of allergy suffering.

Of all the air filters and air purification systems I've ever seen, this is most dramatically the best one I've had personal experience with. The only slight downside is that when wearing this device, some people may be sensitive to feeling the tingly electric pulse through the cord or near the sparking area when it pulses regularly from time to time. If this is a problem, one can simply set the device nearby with cord stretched out behind.

Because of the health benefits of such life-changing nature, I'd give this device ten stars if amazon allowed it; extremely highly recommended, especially for allergy sufferers or anyone wishing to keep air clear around them during 'flu season' or when surrounded by people who are sick.

great support for impaired immune systems

I have purchased three of these. I discovered it when looking for resources to help protect my immune system when going through chemotherapy. also bought one for my dad to use when he went to doctors' offices or was out and about to protect his immune system. We did not 'catch' the flu or a cold during the past year. I like that I felt safe when going to hospitals and doctors' offices that are rife with people sick with infections. The purifier was easy to use and the battery life was more than acceptable; I only changed the batteries twice in the year. I read the reviews about the cord being itchy but I did not have that problem. I have recommended this item to other cancer patients and nurses. This 3rd one I purchased for my brother to use when traveling; his allergies get triggered by recycled airplane air and elements in some hotel rooms.

The only negative I have is that the original price was economical, but it almost doubled by the time I bought the 2nd tamer and was almost 3 times the original price when I bought the 3rd. So word to the wise would be order sooner rather than later.

The lanyard snaps together, mine unsnapped and is loss.

Bought mine mid January, about 2 1/2 months ago. Loved it, I quit taking allergy pills!

The sparky feeling on your nect, As told of by a few others care be stopped by making sure the neck lanyard is firm against your neck.

I loss mine seems the lanyard snaps together, mine unsnapped once, but dropped into my lap, it looked like it snaps together easy enough, I tried and it seem to hold just fine... 3 days ago it must've came loose again.. Two days and no sight of my Sir Tamer...

After about 2 week I found My Air Tamer! Battery's Dead But After I replace the battery's it fine. Off the pills again.

I'm allergic to so many different chemicals that traveling is often miserable. Perfume. Scented hand lotion. Just about every cleaning chemical on the market. But wearing this air purifier has helped me significantly on my last couple of trips--I had fewer reactions to my hotel room, and less hayfever outside.

The name "Filter Stream" gives the impression that this air purifier is going to blow a stream of air up at your face, but that's not how it works: it silently creates negative ions and releases them into the air around you. The cloud of negative ions it generates protect you from the pollen, dust, and volatile chemicals. The only way you can tell it's working is the little blue light that comes on--you can't feel or smell the negative ions it's releasing. But it does seem to work. I now consider it an essential travel item.

I have no idea if it was this air filter thing or just coincidence, but I did not get sick from my last long haul trip (12 hours). Bonus: had my kid next to me and tried to keep this thing upright and close to him, and he did not get sick either! Supposed to work within a 3 foot radius. I'll probably continue testing this out before deciding on another one for him. So far so good. I thought it was total b.s. originally but decided to try it since I hate getting sick from planes, glad I got it.

The rope around the neck is uncomfortable and itchy and I feel like I'm getting a little shocks from it! I purchased it in the hopes that it would help with my fragrance sensitivities but it did not. I was greatly disappointed and will reserve the use of this to any flights I may take in the future.

I have chronic sinus infections, allergies, chemical sensitivities, the whole nine yards. This helps so much. I decided to buy this one instead of the newer version because the newer version doesn't have a clip, and I really like the clip.

I bought for a business trip to Asia. I usually get a cold/flu on trips like this so I thought I would try the AirTamer. Well....I did not get a cold or flu on this trip. But I cannot prove that the AirTamer was the reason. Even so, I will continue to wear this on every plane trip I take for awhile to see if I continue to not get sick. Clip works. Strap around neck works....it can be a little scratchy at times but I am sensitive to wool and wool-like materials so that might be the reason. Small but not inconspicuous. People see it and ask about it. One set of batteries worked for the full trip. In general, I could rank with 5 stars, but you just never know if it is working or if I simply dodged a cold on this trip so I am only giving 4 stars.

I bought this to protect me from stale, recycled air during a recent airline trip. I felt relieved to use it while other passengers were coughing around me. I didn't know if it would help or not but thankfully, I didn't get sick on the trip and I have to believe that this product played a part. Life is too short and travel time to precious to take the chance of sharing somebody's bug.
