So disappointing.

I'll keep this short, but when I got the package in the mail the box had bent corners and lots of scuffs. To be honest it looked like tape had been pulled off and reapplied numerous times. I open it and it's the creakiest cheapest looking thing I've ever seen. I was scared to play around with it because it looked that fragile. For the cost of this thing I expected better. I'll never buy from this brand again.

Really like the idea & design of this but wish it was made better.

I am really torn about this. I researched a lot to find a home planetarium that was best for teaching astronomy. I like that this one has accurate constellations, relative brightnesses of stars, and the milky way. Also that it allows you to set it to your correct latitude and that it actually rotates like the night sky. However, it is SO poorly made. I bought one that was "Used - Very Good" from Amazon Warehouse Deals, and it didn't work correctly at all. It did rotate (although slowly and jerkily) but the light wouldn't stay on at all unless I applied upward pressure to the bottom of the circular part where the power adapter plugs in. It's like the electrical connections inside are too weak to work. I returned it immediately. Trying to decide if I should gamble and spend more to buy a new one but from the reviews it looks like I'll likely have the same problems. Very disappointing.

Poor Craftsmanship

It worked great for the first couple of times. Now there is a short in the mechanism and the bulb flickers. It no longer is bright enough to project light farther than a couple of inches. I shuttered my windows and turned on the classroom lights, got my students anticipated a great time...alas, such was not to be. It projects light from only 3 or 4 inches away. Pretty pathetic.

Terrible

The first one of these I ordered arrived damaged, clearly used and not working. I exchanged for a new one as it was a gift and it worked for one day, then stopped working. I cannot return it now since the time period for return has elapsed. Very disappointed daughter and I am very very upset. This is utter rubbish.

Did not work properly. Wouldn't turn. Returned and got the Uncle Milton's, which now makes a grinding sound and turns rather sporadically after about 3-4 months of use. So... Boo.

Amazon was great on the return

JUNK ! The first one arrived and was completely dead. Amazon was great on the return. I figured just bad luck and ordered a replacement. The second one arrived and would work for about 1 minute, then cut out for anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours and then magically start working for 1 minute again. Once again, Amazon was great about a refund.

ALMOST an awesome product

This product came to me in almost good working condition... the plastic piece that holds the rotating piece and the IR receiver together needs much more rigidity... the lights and rotation shut off very easily. I've had to prop it up against an object to give it enough pressure to provide electrical connection. I fully dismantled the small circular unit area (consequently most of the device) and attempted fixing by bending the contact prongs inside to give more pressure.... unfortunately that did not solve the problem, my next step is to take scrap plastic, melt, bend and shape to re-inforce the unit so that it holds pressure against the contacts... I'm also probably going to sand the contacts and hope they get better conductivity with what little pressure they have going for them...

It's really frustrating because my kids LOVE learning about the stars and it's potentially a GREAT tool for their bedtime and education, but it just falls short... given the price and the other competing products i'm severely disappointed in this, and the overall availability of quality planetariums....

If you decide to get this just know you will most likely have to do modifications and anyone without any electrical experience or confidence in fabricating plastic pieces will be very disappointed... :(

Cheaply made and 4x the price it should be.

Constructed of the most delicate of plastic. I have had drink straws that were strong plastic. Even the screws are plastic so you can't tighten anything on it without fear of snapping of a part so it wont hold position. light did not come on at first. I found if I pushed up on the end of the gray armature it would flicker on. I could temporarily get it to stay on by tightening the screws on the end of the armature, but again the screws are plastic and will not get tight enough to stay in place. Also battery in remote was DOA, makes high pitch sound, and rotation is jittery.

I try to save 1 stars for the worse, but this was really chintzy. If this was $20 I would give it 3 or 4 stars as there is more of an assumption you get what you paid for. Definitely should not be $70.

I wish I had read the other reviews before buying. This product is very fragile and didn't work when I first plugged it in. Even the box looked old and used. It is definitely not worth the money.
