In all reality this is a 4 star set. For the 75% off retail price I purchased them for they get 5 stars all day. Are they bass heavy? Yup. Very. But that doesn't mean that they don't have smooth mids & clear highs. Love the comfort & accuracy of my shure iems, but these are a all around fuller sound for today's mainstream music. Plus they have that cool factor if that's important to you

Great sound, poor reliability

The bass reproduction is wonderful, as are the other frequencies. The construction is solid for sure, but doesn't feel all that great to wear due to the length (which I guess was required in order to achieve the bullet look).

Unfortunately, they broke after a year, so I got a new pair in the hopes that it was because of something I'd done. This next pair I have also broke after a year though. Both times one side would just stop producing any sound at all. My current pair stopped playing on the right, then the left stopped playing, but the right started playing again. It's no good with one working, regardless of how many times it switches!

I emailed customer service and have not received a response in over two weeks. I will not be buying from this company a third time.

Great build/looks, sound not so much!

I purchased these based on the gushing reviews here an on youtube along with the styling that sucked me in. I just know what to say with regards to those who feel these are excellent in terms of sound quality (believe me for the $140 I paid and good looks I was wanting to like these). I'll start with the good first. Build quality is excellent as well as the accessories. They certainly feel/look and hold up like a $150 IEM. If all you want is good looks/build quality and boomy bass that vibrates your ear drums look no further if it doesn't bother you paying $140 for the novelty of it. As for sound. Bass is there in abundance but sloppy and definitely affects the midrange. mids are congested a bit to my ears (more than a bit actually). Not super recessed but overwhelmed The highs aren't terrible nor terrific just sort of there and unoffensive (no harshness, not great detail either). My other IEMs currently are Nuforce NE-700x an newer NE-7700x, Klipsch S4, Brainwavz R1, V-moda bassfreq metal vocal and beyer dynamics dtx/mmx-101. The Nines are by far the most expensive and best looking set but also the worse sounding set to my ears and I have 100s of hours on them. After trying to convince myself to use them and eqing them to try and make them acceptable I simply do not listen to these AT ALL anymore. After back to back with ANY of my other IEMs there is just no reason too. I'm no audiophile and I like my bass accentuated and stronger than any audiophile would but I still have a limit to the lack of midrange clarity, detail and all around openess I'm willing to tolerate and these just don't cut it for the high price. These have $30-50 IEM sound and $140 looks/novelty. the novelty of IEMs that look like real shells quickly wears off. the 3 stars is mostly for build quality and ability to slam the eardrums which hip hop bass heads will likely enjoy. Not for anybody else for the price IMO.

Awesome earphones

I love these earphones. They make your music come alive. You can hear things within the songs that you have never heard before. With the silicone ear piece these are as close to noise cancelling as an ear bud can be. They also come with a 2 year warrenty. These are totally worth the money!

Wonderful earphones, I've tried everything out on the market and theses are killer! Perfect balance of highs and lows, mids etc. Great construction. They may look cheesy but they are not, being a musician I'm very critical about my music and I want to hear everything that is recorded, and I get it from these.

First-Class Build, Expansive Sound

The materials and build alone on these headphones are worth five stars--rock solid from top to bottom, with metal plugs and a kevlar-lined cord. The sound right out of the box is absolutely booming. This is an in-ear headphone that comes very close to an over-ear experience, with wide stereo separation, and as previous reviewers have noted, amazing bass response. I've never heard an in-ear in this price range with this much breadth of sound.

After burn in, the mids and highs will become clearer, so be patient--they'll balance out with the bass. I'm listening to rock, metal, and classic pop on these, and I'm hearing additional elements in songs that I've never heard before, like the distant layered acoustic guitars in The Verve's "Sonnet", or a buried wailing guitar in the left channel during the chorus of Megadeth's "Public Enemy No. 1."

The fit is extremely comfortable, and I forget they're in my ears after a while. With plastic earbuds, my ears usually become irritated after a few hours, but these don't. It might be the metal that makes it feel more natural. The remote is designed well, with the button raised just high enough so I never have to look down. One click to pause, two to move a song forward, three to repeat.

The packaging is excellent too, and it was a pleasure to take my time and open the box. The only negative here is the included carrying case--it's just too small to easily put the phones away without cramming them in there. The round box that these come in actually makes a better case, and I'm also using an old Sennheiser pouch from a pair of CX-500s I used to own, which is just the right size.

Finally, if the bullet motif isn't for you, the black pair is the way to go--they just look like small black earplugs unless you put them under a light.

Excellent sound for an earbud

Great in ear buds but a little heavy.?I love the fit and finish and they include nifty little hooks that will clip around your ear for a better hold during physical activities. The buds are heavy because it seems to be a real shell casing from a 9mm cartridge, couple that with the electrical acoustic internals makes the buds a tad on the heavy side but they are by no means uncomfortable. The sound is excellent, clear, sharp and heavy. A little bass heavy but with eq adjustments this can be refined. Overall I'm pretty impressed with the quality of the build and quality of the sound. Comes with some nice accessories plus a nice pouch. I don't like the fact that there is no volume control on the inline mic., but I can manage.

These are simply amazing ear buds if you're looking for BASS. Other than that, the Mic makes clear phone calls. But unless you like heavy bass music they're not for everyone.

Edit: these headphones worked great until the right channel or earphone stopped working. Now I have a very expensive one year piece.
