Science Rocks. Even though it looks like your taking your coffee cup for a walk every time you use it -I haven't spilled a drop yet - 200 cups and counting. Not to mention it makes your coworkers look at you weird -bonus. Sometimes I walk down the aisle waving it back and forth while speaking Latin because Lord knows my coworkers NEED blessing -save their souls.

Great for ataxia

I have spinocerebellar ataxia, and my limb coordination is worsening as the years go by. When I walk inside the house, I need to touch walls, door jambs, tables, chair backs, countertops, etc. as I go. I cannot just up-and-walk with a cup of liquid. But I can with this. I don't even have to look at it. As long as I don't fall over, I can be as herky-jerky as I want along the way, and I know the cup will have been completely stable when I reach my destination.

It's right there in the name of the product, but this thing is incredible. You used to be able to follow me around work by the drops of spilled coffee everywhere I stopped or turned, but with this thing I've become a ghost in the system! It holds every cup I've tried, but I don't drink out of the tall coffee cups. My wide mugs, my normal eight ouncers, styrofoam, Dixie, all of those bad boys fit with no issues, and I usually demonstrate the spill proof design by spinning the entire thing by the string.

An added, unanticipated, bonus is that I can carry my iPad and my coffee in the same hand now by simply hooking a finger through the strap and holding the iPad. No more tucking my device under my arm to open doors!

Incredibly, this works. I limp from arthritis and my hands shake. Carrying a coffee mug in my hands, I always slosh coffee. No coffee sloshes from this, though. Bonus: I can put a couple of fingers through the strap, hold a plate in the same hand, and carry coffee and my breakfast at the same time while using my cane! No need to make two trips.

Now I wish I also had a bigger version that would let me carry taller glasses and wider dishes, such as bowls.

This is so much fun.

Swing it around and the cup just sits there.

People look at you -- and marvel -- well, they are looking at the cup, really, but as an exhibitionist ... :)

My personal opinion is that this is a gimbal although I have nothing official to back that assertion up. From Wikipedia:
"A gimbal is a pivoted support that allows the rotation of an object about a single axis. A set of three gimbals, one mounted on the other with orthogonal pivot axes, may be used to allow an object mounted on the innermost gimbal to remain independent of the rotation of its support (e.g. vertical in the first animation). For example, on a ship, the gyroscopes, shipboard compasses, stoves, and even drink holders typically use gimbals to keep them upright with respect to the horizon despite the ship's pitching and rolling.
"The gimbal suspension used for mounting compasses and the like is sometimes called a Cardan suspension after Italian mathematician and physicist Gerolamo Cardano (1501-1576) who described it in detail. However, Cardano did not invent the gimbal, nor did he claim to. The device has been known since antiquity and may not have a single identifiable inventor."
[By the way, Cardano was quite a guy: read, for example, Cardano's Cosmos: The Worlds and Works of a Renaissance Astrologer by Anthony Grafton. If lines like this fascinate you, you will love this book: "the continuity of the astrological tradition is, perhaps, unmatched in the intellectual history of the West".]

This thing is magical.

I often fill up a cup with water just to play with it... it works extremely well. I got this for the lady in my life who often carries a full cup of tea everywhere she goes. its a bit of a physics marvel. but it makes complete sense after you think about it. the liquid in a cup is only able to slosh around if the thing holding it is offering resistant force... but when the cup can swing freely... the liquid is nearly still. its off the same principle of when you let your arm go a little more into defensive maneuvers while holding a beverage and your driver hits a bump with the car. you don't stiffen up and let chaos happen... you try to compensate.

The spill knot does all that work for you, at all times, without you having to worry.

Highly recommended for the folks who move around a bit with a mug. keep in mind the height clearance of certain cups. if your favorite cup is some gigantic chalice of excellence, or a viking beer stein... it may not fit in this little gadget.

A Must-Have for the Office

I love this thing. Use it literally every day walking to and from the kitchen at the office. Its great to hang it off one of my fingers while still carrying other stuff. While it does NOT work for little jiggles, trips, or jumps, it is perfect for walking around or going up and down stairs. It's also so much fun to show people who ask, "What the heck is that?" that I can swing my cup of coffee all the way around without it spilling.

My husband complained about little drips on the kitchen floor and we all looked at each other. Who was spilling stuff? Well, ends up it was me and my morning coffee. Careful carrying wasn't working, so I ordered the Incredible Spill Not. The guys scoffed a bit. Didn't look like anything special. Well, it works. I can be as sleepy in the morning as I like, no spills.

Now go away. I want more coffee.

Update: I read a review that complained about the ribbon. It is thick and stiff so that when you let go it doesn't fall into your coffee. I thought it was strange at first, but once I got used to it I understand how it works. Seriously, I can fill my cup almost to the brim and not spill a drop. It's saved my floors/carpet and saved me time spot cleaning.

I heard about this from a friend when I told them the story of my horrible Monday that started with a cup of spilled coffee. She gave me a link to this strange item and I watched the product video just for a laugh, but I found awe instead. I bought one for myself and its all true! Its like magic when you spin it and I haven't spilled a cup from walking (mind you my lips are full of holes so I spilll when I drink anyway) and I bought two more for my mom and sister who also suffer from spills as I do. This actually really and truly works, y'all. We use a keurig with biodegradable pods, and that means pre-programmed cup sized. I can only get half a cup of coffee, or a REALLY FULL cup of coffee out of that stupid coffee machine. Who only wants half a cup of coffee? So yeah, with this item here, I can get a REALLY FULL cup of coffee and bring it all the way to my computer room without having to walk gingerly. The only problem is actually transferring the mug to my desk. *bump*
