We needed a way to secure personal items in a college dormitory. Space is tight. You need some security, but the dorm is already fairly protected from the outside world. A professional safe would be heavy, expensive, and impractical.

This item has been perfect for us. With a low profile and wheels, it seems designed precisely to roll under a bed, which is one of the few places with extra space in a dorm room. The locking cable loops around the bed frame, again a really logical way of securing something in a temporary living space like this.

There is easily enough space inside to store a laptop, other small electronics, and diverse personal items -- basically, just about as much stuff as a college student would ever need to secure. The lid, lock and structure are strong enough to withstand a fair amount of force, more than any smash-and-grab thief would ever apply.

We ordered a spare set of keys from the manufacturer, great service there. The locker has held up to modest use over three months so far, so it seems durable enough. For the price, we can't think of a better choice. Highly recommend!

Great for hiding adult fun time items !!

Bought for hiding the adult time goodies. Very solid and works well under the adjustable bed frame. Very impressed with everything but the wheels are a little bit cheap. But well worth the purchase. Keeps kids out of things. If your worried about being able to break into it go with a safe. But it would take a little work getting into this.

Love the safe,have to put it together but great for sliding under the bed, easy to open, has a chain that will loop around and lock inside the box. Wrap wire a few times around the frame of bed and it makes want to be takers to take too long before they can steal it- unless they have bolt cutters. But for bedroom, SR Citizen, kids room, these are perfect. Excellent customer service from ECR4Kids! Had one lock -locked up- no questions, send me new lock, test keys to open, and was able to get open and fixed . very happy.

Needed a document and laptop security storage.

I love this storage and lock unit. I looked for a storage chest but most where very very big and unable to fit in my daughters dorm room as there is limited space. we set this item up in no time and there is stays under the bed lock and key. They give you an extra keyand serail number is on the box and on the pamphlet, just incase a replacemnt is needed. Well worth the money and perfect for dorm room use. The capacity is very large and able to fit more then one laptop.

Bought it as a gift for my mom who is constantly hiding things around the house to "keep them safe." Well those "safe" spots must truly be safe, because we can never remember where they are hidden, or ever find them again. So, hopefully she can keep all of her important things safe in one spot, and not have to worry about losing them. It was very easy and fast to assemble.

This safe worked out perfect for my needs. The wheels were a bit tricky to get on (and could be a nicer color), it helps to have someone to help you put them on, but once they are on they roll perfectly.

The lock is secure and comes with a 'real' set of keys, unlike those chintzy keys that may come with a jewelry box or the like. The lock and keys are just like those on a common SentrySafe lockbox that many people are familiar with. I find the entire thing very sturdy and secure. I liked it so much that I bought a second one.

What I found very handy is the tether (cable) that comes with the safe to secure it around a permanent fixture to keep someone from removing it. There are two holes in the bottom of it to feed the tether through and I used one of the holes to feed an extension cord through it as well as the tether. I am a gadget geek and I use it to store some of my electronic gadgets in it. The extension cord allows me to charge my gadgets while keeping them safely locked up. One could easily store a laptop in it while charging it at the same time. However, since laptops can get warm easily, I wouldn't recommend doing that unless it is in an air-conditioned room.

The only problem with the tether setup is that it comes with a carabiner to attach the two ends inside of the safe. The holes underneath are big enough for someone to pull that out and release the tether, if they knew it was possible. You may want to purchase a padlock, if you don't already have one, to go with this if the tethering function is important to you. I highly recommend this product.

Roomy under the bed safe

Very nice product. Bought this for my son's dorm room. It was much larger than I expected. Probably should have paid more attention to the measurements. But it fits under his bed. He stores cash and his 3DS and important papers inside. It's something that will last him for the next 4 years. I am considering buying one for home. Just wish i was a little less expensive.

A Bit On The Small Side But Will Suffice.

I bought this for my daughter to use in her dorm. In hindsight I wish I would have taken the time to read the dimensions of this safe as I would have opted for something bigger. As it is, she will be able to store her laptop, a bit of cash, and an envelope of important documents in this safe. If you are hoping to store jewelry, video games, or anything more you might want to explore other options.

For being made of plastic, this safe is pretty sturdy. The lid folds back to open and the locking mechanism is at the far end of the box which makes me wonder if someone might be able to pry it in the middle just enough to get a hand inside. I have not attempted this for fear of breaking it but it IS something to consider. Assembly was a breeze, with simple instructions and all the hardware included. The only tool required was also included. The safe comes with a nice long cable that feeds through two holes in the bottom of the safe which we secured through the dorm bed frame. The two ends of the cable are then locked inside the safe with the carabiner (also included) that screws locked.

Overall this safe is well made and durable enough for our intents and purposes, if a bit small.

Plenty of space for the items I needed. I checked the specs before I bought it. There are two holes that you use to cable the safe to the underside of your bed, make sure you don't store small loose items in this safe.

Also, it's not designed to be a heavy duty unbreakable safe. It's basically a plastic storage bin on wheels with a key lock. If you go into this purchase with the idea that it's going to be impossible to break into this, you're purchasing the wrong item.
