Product Description

Hog Wild was founded in 1996 and we live by these simple rules: We sell innovative novelty products typically geared to older kids (over 8) and that cross over to adults. We try to be different and dance to our own beat when developing toys and gifts. We avoid competition whenever possible (no board games, no fashion dolls, no flying disks). We don't do gag gifts but do enjoy humor and farting products (we just don't sell them). We're not the brightest bulbs in the warehouse but we do try and often own up to our stupid mistakes. We like things simple because it's easier for us to understand. We're located in Porkland, Oregon and ship all our products from this sometimes inconvenient location. We typically take 3 to 5 days to process an order for our retail stores and we like to get paid on time. If you're a credit worthy retailer, we'll offer you terms. If you're an "end user" we want you to buy from our website and we value you the most of all. I'm sorry our prices are not dirt cheap but what you find from us, you should not find anywhere else. There are times when we get knocked off but that's life in the toy business. We're always on the prowl for new ideas and look to outside inventors for help. Most of the really good inventors are very hard to find and they are often bar tenders, school teachers, fireman, and other professions not typically associated with inventing. When we find these people, they typically have really clever, never before seen ideas. They are always smarter than we are and we feel very lucky when they license their product idea to us. Fact: The best products we have always come from outside inventors. If you've got a great idea, we'd love to hear from you. If you work at a professional inventing company with fancy presentations and 1,000s of great ideas, you're probably not a great fit for us.

Nicely done toy with infinite possibilities ...
by G. Murray (5 out of 5 stars)

The catapult assembles quickly, from three separate parts - the base, the launching post and the upright rubber band holder. There's a plastic "wing nut" thing on the bottom of the launching post assembly that unscrews to allow all three pieces to be put together. The base has, as shows, three suction cups and the catapult can rotate around the base. The six balls that are included are of a nice density that they have enough mass to fly but not enough mass to knock over anything fragile. For its size, it has a fair bit of power and can throw the included balls ~30ft. It seems durable, with no plastic-on-plastic contact points that would wear quickly. I gave these as "stocking stuffers" to my nephews, along with Practice Ping Pong Balls, Pack of 144 balls and they've all been a hit.

I'd guess that this will get used more than just about any other toy in this price range. I'd recommend some Dixie Bathroom Cups, 3 oz 200 ea or BIG BAG OF BLUE ARMY PLASTIC TOY SOLDIERS - ARMY MEN! 144 Count. for targets.

What kid wouldn't like this!?
by RBreinich (5 out of 5 stars)

Bought these for a five-year old and a nine year old. What a blast they have with them. I ordered a bag of 100 colored ping pong balls to go with them (of course the orange balls that come with them are much better, but I didn't notice any less fun when they split this bag of ping pong balls to continue shooting at each other...they loved the longer play time before the "round-up the ammunition" time).

They also use them for target practice using empty water bottles, soda cans, army men, etc.

I would actually recommend you get two of them so that you can use them with parent, sibling, friend, etc in a game of war.

A few things to realize. They are small...probably more than you think when you look at the in the photo. And the suction cups aren't the greatest but a hand can be used to stabilize them. Look at the directions to assemble them correctly...the launching lever and rubber band must be a specific way. They are made of plastic but a sturdy enough that it's been 3 months and they are still going strong. I haven't measured how far the balls can be launched, but I would say at least 20 feet. Parents found them irresistable too.

A hit! A most palpable hit!
by Amused10 (5 out of 5 stars)

We discovered these recently at a local library fair. The theme was time travel through history and these were used in the medieval area in a game of breaching the castle wall and trying to knock its occupants from their perch! Each of my five children ages 3-12 (not to mention my husband!) Were so enamored with these that I ended up ordering some on my phone before we even left the building.

We received them in the mail today and have yet to stop playing with them. To make the most of their playability, I ordered two catapults and one set of extra balls (6 in a pkg). I highly recommend the extra balls as we have already lost two inside our house. They seem to be of sturdy construction and are very fairly priced, but as to longevity of use or under harsher hands, I cannot yet determine.

Overall, I recommend this if you are looking for a fun toy, great for all ages, with some educational value (learning about arch and propulsion). Enjoy the impending assault!

This is an extremely sturdy toy and is highly adjustable to get just the ...

My husband and son set up target ranges and then see who can hit the most targets. This is an extremely sturdy toy and is highly adjustable to get just the right aim. The rule is that if a ball hits momma, momma gets to keep the ball for 24 hours. This encourages them to pay attention to what's going on around them.

Awesome - get extra ammo
by Tim (5 out of 5 stars)

Launches way farther than I expected. Too powerful for office bombardments. My son and I build block towers and them knock them down from across the room. Teaches good brain/body skills to adjust aim and trajectories. Balls are soft enough that they won't break anything - though have enough force to knock something over. I wouldn't want one in the eye at close range, otherwise safe. I'd recommend buying extra balls so you can have a long siege without running around gathering spent ammo.

Good Xmas Gifts
by Holly A. Delaney (5 out of 5 stars)
January 20, 2018

Actually bought 4 -- given as gifts for young children 3-5 yrs old; received good reviews from recipients parents. Adult son put them together easiy, 3-yr-old granddaughter successfully uses. Told it's projection is very strong -- easily hits the ceiling -- goes long distances. Additional ping pong balls are used as the initial 2-3 projectiles can be quickly lost. Appears well made; looks good. Appears to be a good purchase.

A great gift for 9-10 year olds.
by Sasha Lopez (4 out of 5 stars)
July 10, 2015

I bought this as a present for my 9 year old son's friends birthday party, it sounded perfect and the price was great, I was a little disappointed by the size once I received it (the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, from some reviews for this product I thought it would be a bit bigger). But the size doesn't seem to make a difference, it was a great hit at the party and as a gift! I also bought a 12 cheap pack of ping pong balls to go with it for extra fun.

These catapults are fun to play with
by D in MN (5 out of 5 stars)

These catapults are fun to play with. The balls are super light but still knock down the army men my son and I set up on opposing castles. We zing the orange balls back and forth at each other and the army men until there are none standing. Hours of fun, building castles out of lincoln logs, blocks, magna tiles, bristle blocks, you name it and knocking down the guys. The balls aren't heavy enough to knock over certain types of castles but that's ok, we usually break out the nerf guns later.

An unexpected hit with a wide range of kids
by J. S. (5 out of 5 stars)
March 11, 2016

I've bought this twice for birthday presents for my nephews because it's such a hit, and all the other siblings and cousins love it too. This is the kind of toy that a kid will sit and play with quietly for long periods of time (I was going to say hours, but really, hours in kid time-- still only maybe 30 minutes in adult time.)

It seems durable. It's challenging enough to have a small learning curve, but even most toddlers have mastered it.

Missing balls, damaged box, still fun
by DSouth (3 out of 5 stars)
January 21, 2016

The toy arrived quickly. However, the box it was in was visibly damaged (missing half of the cardboard top, tape securing the toy inside already broken into) and there were only 5 foam balls inside, as opposed to the 6 promised. The suction cups work very poorly, not able secure the catapult during use. With all that: I got this as a present for my young son, and he's been playing with it obsessively, helped by my husband. I'll have to find another way to keep it secured. I think my son will still enjoy this toy regardless.
