Microwave for 15 seconds only!
by Damieboo (5 out of 5 stars)

The package and most videos you'll find on youtube will tell you to microwave everything for 30 seconds, but that's according to Japanese microwaves which generally run from 500-660 watts, while American microwaves run from 900-1200 watts. If you have a fairly new microwave, 30 seconds will almost definitely burn it. Start with 15, and if it's still tacky, continue with 5 second intervals until it's got the texture of bouncy bread.

I think this set tasted great, personally. The meat tasted like lightly spiced meat, the bread tasted a little sweet, but good, and the fries tasted like lightly salted potatoes. Ketchup was a little odd, like a mix of sweeter ketchup and soy sauce, but it went well with the fries. The coke had a slightly cherry tang to it but I don't normally drink coke so maybe that's what it's supposed to taste like. The cheese made the whole burger taste a little off. I'd recommend tasting it on its own to see if you like it before putting it on the burger. Tap the buns and meat tray on a countertop before microwaving to get rid of bubbles in the buns.

Packets and their corresponding food:

Yellow - Fries

Orange - Buns

Brown - Meat

Blue - Cheese

Pink - Ketchup

Red - Coke

My daughter and I loved doing this together. The taste wasn't that bad and my 7 year old LOVED the t

My 7 year old daughter and I loved it! We purchased a couple different ones to do....since I'm going to be giving birth to her baby brother in about 9 weeks. So we've been doing lots of mommy-daughter stuff together. I was surprised that it tasted pretty good. Even the french fries (in powder form) smelled exactly like the french fries did when they were frozen and I had to load them in the fries dispenser (McDs was my first job, when I was 15 years old). All and all, it was pretty easy to do and it tasted pretty good too. The bread was a little sweet, so that threw me off. But I loved the fries and I don't drink soda...so wasn't a fan of the flavor, but not bad. My daughter loved every bite and wished there was more. I watched a movie to get the instructions. Here is what I did. Hope this part helps the most....

Color of packets and what it is:

Yellow is the Fries / Brown is the Meat / Pink is the Cola / Orange is the Buns / Blue is the Cheese / Red is the Ketchup

For how much water to add to the powder:

Fries = 2 cups / Meat = 1 cup / Buns = 2 cups / Cheese = 1 cup / Ketchup = 2 cups
(What I mean by the cups, is the small little triangle plastic piece that comes with it. Not a measuring cup that most have in their kitchens)

For the cola.

I just filled the cola cup almost to the top of the ring and then added the powder. It seemed to taste fine.

For the microwaving. We did 15 seconds total for the fries and 20 seconds total for the meat and buns. I started with 10 seconds, checked it and then added more time.

What container to use with what powder:

You'll want to use the fries powder, cheese powder and ketchup powder all in the container with the ridges at the bottom.

You'll want to use the meat and buns in the square container, but then move them over to the 3 circled container, before microwaving.

You'll just put the power in the small cup of water for the cola.

Instructions video:

The video I watched for instructions on YouTube. Her handle name/username is "Nameless" and the title of the video is "happy kitchen #4 - Mini Burger and French fries kit 可食" (sorry don't know if I'm allowed to plug her url, so I put what I can to make it easier to find.

She doesn't speak in the video, but the instructions are correct and she shows you the final result as well.

Seized by US Agricultural officials

I ordered this product but it was seized by US Agric. officials because it contains pork & chicken. I called US Ag to argue that it was "Candy" but the official said the ingredients had both a pork and chicken symbol and was denied entry into US. I think there should be a disclaimer for purchasers of this product if they want it sent to their US home.

AMAZING! :D

Alright so sit back for this full review on everything!

So when I got this I was quite excited.

I want this for months!

So when I got it I was quite happy!

But before I go to detail;

I'm 13; an quite creative so of course this is my cup of tea!

I have seen so many people on youtube make and test this.

I made this with my cousin.

Now obviously you don't need to be Japanese to read this. There's plenty of youtube videos.

So making it was so much fun.

Infact too much fun that i'm very sad it ended!

So than the time came for the eating.

My cousin was quite hesitant. BUT I DOVE RIGHT IN!

Now the hamburger didn't taste like a hamburger.

I don't know how quite to explain it...

But either way I didn't care; I was too happy to care!

The fries tasted like fries!

We ended up eating all of them!
((We added a tad of salt))

The ketchup was alright.

The coke tasted like a really rich coke!

Overall this was so much fuunnn!

I ordered another one!

So this was quite the best thing ever!

Tastes like what it looks like..really. =}

There was some sort of problem and I didn't get my items by the estimated arrival time.. I ordered 01/19 and they were expected by 02/21, so I was already prepared to wait, but when a few days had passed I contacted seller. I didn't know it was a holiday there! I"m so sorry! But still seller replied same day (saturday in usa) and by end of the week I had my items! EXCELLENT SERVICE!
I ordered 2, under the pretense that I, a grown up, should test it out before gifting one to a 3rd grade cousin's grandmother to have on hand for any day that needed a little cheering up.
This is the first one I've tried and it was fun. I want to try more. Make sure to keep your microwave times adjusted a bit lower for the higher wattage u.s.a microwaves. 15-28 seconds or less was more than enough to achieve a not burnt result. I heard that the one I gifted was recently put too good use and was age appropriate...So much so that my Aunt (that bakes me cookies for birthday every year) was considered cool by her grand kid for getting something "JUST LIKE ON YOUTUBE!" So hey, for less than $5, I got my excuse to order a toy for my own enjoyment, made an 8 year old happy, and pleased a lady I value a lot in my life...I really don't know how to sell this product any harder for something that tastes.....weird. not bad... good...weird.
do yourself a favor and follow the kid's example and watch a bunch of youtube examples of the cheese burger kit before you make yours. These things are mini projects and this one is a good starting off one if you aren't sure which one to buy. I would also recommend buying from SaQra Mart for their prompt and friendly service.

A lot of fun!

Small food crafts like these are a lot of fun to play with. The instructions aren't incredibly clear when translated to English so you may have to improvise for some or just figure it out yourself. Either way, it's not that hard to assemble these and make two hamburgers, fries and soda! The best part is that they taste very similar to what you expect them to taste like and they all start out as water and powder.

Make sure you're working on a counter or some place you're okay with cleaning up. These do make a little mess but I bought this because of the cheap price and I have used these before. These are a lot of fun for children as long as you are supervising. Highly recommended. This also did take a while to get here seeing as it was coming from over seas.

Super fun. Don't eat it.

Oh man. This would make a great gag gift. (Literally gagging) My daughter loves stuff like this so we tried it. It was a fun project together. The instructions aren't in English but between videos on YouTube and a translator app on my phone we were able to figure it out. You need a microwave to cook everything. It includes different packets of colored powder that you mix in bowls (included) then press into forms (also included). Then you assemble, and you have a two tiny cheeseburger looking things with "ketchup", "fries", and a "soda". The burgers and fries are pasty and taste like MSG patties. So stinking gross. The soda fizzes up and tastes insanely sweet. Typing this out, I'm amazed at myself for even trying to eat it. The fun was in putting it together and the wonder of a product like this.

Great for making with a friend/S.O.

Adjust your expectations accordingly, but for everything having started as packets of powder, I was definitely caught off guard by how inoffensive the final product tasted.

I bought this as a fun little project to do with my boyfriend, and it was oddly rewarding to see a bunch of powder turn into something that genuinely resembled a small burger! We had a blast cutting out the little decorations and assembling the food.

If you want the full experience, feel free to try to make everything without using the translated instructions. For me and my bf, it made the whole process feel like more of an adventure than just assembling the ingredients as directed.

If you enjoy dainty crafts and the curiosity that comes with trying foreign foods, then this is a great buy. Be prepared for a somewhat lengthy shipping time though.

Overall, the experience was easily worth the price. I would definitely recommend giving any of the Popin' Cookin' kits a try!

Hamburger Popin' Cookin' Is Fun To Make, But Not To Eat
by Devlin Baker (3 out of 5 stars)
June 24, 2016

With no Japanese Import stores around me, I searched Amazon for Popin Cookin after being told by a friend how amazing they were. I was extremely excited when I got this in the mail. It arrived in a bubbled wrapped envelope, and the box was undamaged. Though the instructions were in Japanese, there are lots of tutorials on YouTube that helped. It was very fun to make, and quite easy. It does, however, not taste very good. The french fries taste sort of like french fries, and the soda tastes like flat soda, but the hamburger is just terrible. I had my siblings try it, and they agreed that it did taste bad. But, it was fun to make, and arrived almost a week sooner than I expected, so all in all, it was not horrible. But next time, I think I'll go for something other than hamburger!
