Now I know sometimes a bad batch of paper straws can ruin the experience

Coming from another brand of paper straws. These are smaller in diameter than normal straws and they can don't last more than a few sips before becoming waterlogged. Now I know sometimes a bad batch of paper straws can ruin the experience, but it was a very bad experience.

Very pretty, add a nice touch!

They're pretty, and actually get compliments. As the title says, these are *biodegradable paper* so it should not come as a surprise that they don't last for several drinks, the most often cited complaint in the negative comments! Stick a fresh one in each drink, and enjoy. Much better choice than plastic (plastic is forever!)

Cute, sturdy in cold beverages, and the amount justifies the price *UPDATE* 09-2019

*UPDATE* 09-2019

I.ve purchased these twice, a few months apart. They are not the same this time- these straws are not the same straws I bought the first time- they are flimsy and sometimes don't last through one drink.

I will not buy them again.

I demand consistent quality control in a product that will touch something I'm consuming.

These are great for cold beverages, not hot ones, of course. They are paper, after all. Saving our planet one paper straw at a time feels good, they are cute, and they have no odd smell or flavor. Price is fair for the number of straws you get.

Decent straws
by AngelaC (3 out of 5 stars)

I really like the look of these, I bought them for a reptile themed party and they were really cute, but personally I can taste too much of the paper when I'm sipping my beverage. They can last a long time in the cup before they absorb too much liquid, my kids didn't seem to mind it. My taste buds are just more sensitive, so this may not be an issue for you. I can use them for a little while, but then I have to change it out. So for me, it's just Ok. If I were rating the look alone, they would be a 5 star :-) They are also thin, a little thinner than a standard size straw. If you're familiar with the straws from IKEA, they are just a tad bigger than those which are VERY thin but I love them for certain cups we have (like the kids "Ice Cream" cup from Denny's they sold some time ago, we have 4 of them and the IKEA straws were the only ones I could find that fit those cups. These bamboo ones do NOT fit).

Oh, additionally, the box they're packaged in isn't very sturdy and comes apart easily so be careful when handling. I ordered about 5 boxes of these and it was the same with all of them. I just transferred them to a paper bag. I was going to transfer to a Ziploc but that seemed to defeat the purpose of "going green" and I felt guilty! We had a lot left over, so I have some in a Mason jar in the kitchen and my family grabs them from there and extras are stored in the bag.

Really sturdy and beautiful

I always read reviews before buying and was apprehensive about buying these because others have noted that they don't hold up for drinking. They were beautiful and priced well so I took the plunge and I'm so glad I did! Not only is the color vibrant and beautiful but they are sturdier then I would think is possible with a paper straw. If this tells you anything I used these in a mason jar with a cute paisley lid at a party I threw. They were sitting already poured with straw immersed in lemonade on buffet drink table. People could just grab and go. Lemonade is highly acidic so I was shocked when my drink straw help up throughout the length of the party. I honestly do not know how others posted that they were poorly constructed. If your on the fence but them, you won't be disappointed.

Better as confetti
by Diana (1 out of 5 stars)

The only positive thing about these straws, is that they're cute. It ends there. In fact, they become less and less cute with each soggy paper clogged sip. I absolutely hate wasting and can't get rid of these horrid things fast enough! Maybe I'll turn them into an art project, I bet the'll be more useful if i throw them in my Vitamix and turn them into confetti! Then I'll be able to celebrate finally getting this useless piece of crap out of my house. :::::Update these straws even make crap confetti. :::::::

Good for a party but not what I was expecting
by Lauren (3 out of 5 stars)

I bought this product to make a wreath for christmas and the pricing was extremely cost effective. After opening the package I was a bit dissapointed in the coloring of them. The picture makes them look very red like a peppermint stick which is what I was going for but the color was actually a very faded red- almost pinkish color. The white also was not quite as bright of a white as I was hoping for.

Given that I was using these for a craft they were not what I was needing or wanting and I decided to give them a try as a straw. They are fun for a party but over time they do breakdown which is to be expected with a paper straw and I would not use them for any day to day usage. I think I will be able to find another craft use for these since I am not having a party any time soon and am not a huge straw drinker. I will update my post if I come up with another idea for a craft opportunity and let you know what it is like for that!

Call Me "Old Fashioned"...
by CAS MARINO (4 out of 5 stars)

Sometimes the simplest and strangest things can elevate an experience from "fine" to "memorable". The same iced soda or milkshake sipped through these classic-style paper straws evokes such memories of childhood soda shop treats and lakeside summer lunches that having a box of these on hand can turn a little snack into a little mental vacation. I have them in assorted colors because that's the way I roll -- but no matter the shade, there's something about a coke float pairing with the taste and feel of waxed paper between your lips that just takes you away. Until the phone rings and someone busts your chops with a dose of reality. Send them to voicemail, take another sip, and stay away a little while longer -- you'll be glad you went that extra inch.

Four stars instead of a full five for two tiny reasons: first, and through no fault of the product because it is what it is, if you're planning on nursing your drink, plan on fighting with a limp, wet, collapsing straw. Not too quickly, but like every paper straw, eventually and unavoidably. Second, I might truly enjoy such simple pleasures, but if I got THAT excited about a piece of rolled paper coated in paraffin, it would serve my nostalgic old butt if my kids had me committed to mental facility...
