Great design HORRIBLE QUALITY!!
by Miss Chievous RN (2 out of 5 stars)
January 28, 2017

Unfortunately, I'm a very light sleeper and need 7-8 hours a night. My husband has sleep apnea and snores. I'm addicted to these headphones and they have been a godsend. That said, this is the 4TH PAIR IN 5 YEARS!!! They have somehow managed to create a product that self destructs immediately AFTER the warrantee has expired.

The wiring is PATHETIC- it will break and start to cut out right about 1yr

The battery life is barely 6 hours and that is if you get "a good one" cuz they seem to vary a lot. Fully charge and fully run it down several times to get max run time- hopefully you can function on less sleep than me. The up side is that I wake up within 15 minutes or so after it dies so I'm never late to work.....

This is THE ONLY sleep headphone design on the market right now, that I know of, that has flat speakers on both sides, battery is flat enough that it's unnoticeable, and it's wireless. Sound quality isn't too bad either compared to the Chinese knockoffs.

But trust me! I'm searching high and low for a better quality product! $100 a pair?!?!?!??!? A year?!?!?!?? MY GOD!! My Parrots and my Bohms cost that (warehouse deals)!!!

And after YEARS of MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS from consumers, the company has done NOTHING to improve the product

I'm taking my broken wires pairs over to a friend who does fine electronic repair and see if he can replace the wires with sturdier ones- then maybe he can design a better quality headphone that we can market that you will only have to buy ONCE!

I don't appreciate being part of someone's business plan of "crappy quality=repeat buyer" !! I would be embarrassed and mortified if this was something I made and sold to people! Why in the world would someone waste such a great idea on crappy craftsmanship????? I'd love to buy the company and build them RIGHT!!

I feel obligated to post a review for these given I nearly was swayed from buying them due to some reviews. Let's preface this quickly: I absolutely love these things and as far as I'm concerned they were worth the money even though they were a bit of a steep expense.

Firstly, I saw people complaining about how the battery is difficult to access. I'm a bit confused by this. Only someone from an infomercial would struggle to extract the battery from these unless you really managed to jam it clear up into the band where it, frankly, should not be. The pack is right at the velcro opening. It is easy to insert and remove. It also charges quickly and is extraordinarily easy to pair with your bluetooth headset. If you plug your phone into say your car sound system, when you remove it your SleepPhones will immediately reconnect if they are still on.

Secondly, the battery life. I turn these on in the morning before I leave for work and leave them on through my eight hour work day, so they are on and running for about nine hours. I've yet have the battery die on me in that time. I imagine the volume you have them at judges how long your battery will last, my volume is typically at half. I saw many people saying these will only last six hours but that is definitely not the case if you keep the volume at a moderate level.

Thirdly, sound quality. So much better than I expected. Before I purchased these I wore a set of Philips Fidelo on ears at my job which have outstanding sound and was pleasantly surprised by these SleepPhones; despite the speakers being so small the sound is excellent and clear. I saw complaints about them not being loud enough but I have never needed to have them at maximum volume... they do in fact get quite loud.

I use these both to sleep and to my job where we are not supposed to be wearing headphones at all. I work in a very noisy backroom and am one of the three people out of 30+ that actually has to use some amount of concentration to get my job done. If you need some comfy, undercover headphones, I highly recommend these. I have been wearing on ear headphones for years that make my helix and conch piercings hurt from the constant pressure, if you have lots of ear piercings and are looking for a comfy headset, I highly recommend these! And of course, they are surprisingly nice to sleep in. If you listen to ASMR videos these will change the way you enjoy ASMR videos forever. I travel internationally often and I imagine these will be excellent on an intl flight, much more comfortable than on ear headphones or earbuds for 12 hours. The one and only downside to these is that they do move around if you are moving around, but they are easy to adjust regardless. Like I said before, 100$ is a fairly steep price but depending on what you need/want these for, they are worth the price. Thanks AcousticSheep!

UPDATE: I've owned these for coming up on two years now, I use them 4~5 days a week for up to 9hrs a day. The battery life has not decreased. The wires are perfectly fine. The sound quality has not diminished. You can remove the entire battery pack and headphones and toss the band in the wash with your laundry. The only thing that would make this product better would be some non-slip silicone. Even without that, I'm more than happy with this purchase and I'd happily buy again.

Awesome
by Hockey Nut (5 out of 5 stars)

These things are great. I take these on deployments. Sharing tents with people who snore, gun fire (I know this sounds strange) and explosions....it drowns it all out. Why do I need that? Well.....in order to perform my job, I need some sleep. And these don't block out enough sound to the point where I don't know when I need to actually "react" but enough to pass out. The sound quality isn't great but it works for what it is. Isn't a Bose so don't expect Bose sound. They do spin around your head at times but unless you are dead, you're going to move and so will these. But by the time you notice, it's time to get up. Ignore the reviews that complain about that. That's like complaining about your tires wearing out after 50k miles. It's going to happen. I guess you could nail it to your head or duct tape it.

Perfect for sleeping and drowning out noise!
by Nathaniel King (5 out of 5 stars)
June 21, 2016

This time last year I began to search for the perfect pair of earmuffs to drown out the sound of my incredibly loud family in the morning. I work the night shift and sleep during the day, as I imagine a lot of us do. I'll get to the point and tell you right now this is where my search ended. The headband is soft, the speakers are low profile enough to sleep in, and yes, I'm a side sleeper and can barely feel them, and they're loud and of high quality. The pictures show people using this product during sports as a headband, but you can easily use it over your eyes as a sleep mask as well. When I inevitably get woken up in the morning, I slip these on, turn on some rain sounds from a random app I downloaded to my phone, turn the volume on high, and I can't hear a thing my family says, even when their yelling. I'm a larger dude and these fit me fine, so don't bother getting the bigger size.

I tried the wired version before eventually settling on this wireless design. While $100 is a steep price tag just for the luxury of no cord, the cord really was kind of a hassle. If I turned any way in my sleep, my phone went crashing to the ground and the cable was severed. You really can't put a price tag on a good nights sleep. I sound like a spokesman, but these really are indispensable and I hope this review helps others in the same situation as me!

A year later.. still the best in it's category (irreplaceable compared to other products)
by MKANET (5 out of 5 stars)

I'm using this not only for sleep; but, everywhere else too. It's because it's the most comfortable way to listen to anything on your phone or other devices.

PRO: Most comfortable way to listen to Bluetooth/headphones PERIOD. You're not going to find more comfortable headphones anywhere. Also, its the only headset I've ever used to that lets me sleep on my side without feeling ANY discomfort.

PRO: Amazing sound quality. There are times when I'm listening to TV... I get fooled into thinking the sound coming from somewhere else. In some cases.. a PERFECT reproduction of sound. It doesn't have deep bass, but some sounds sound incredibly accurate.

CON: The only issue I have with it is the speakers and Bluetooth module keep sliding out of place when I take the Bluetooth module out to charge.

CON: I wish there was a way to charge it without having to take the Bluetooth module out.

Regardless of the CON for this product (and any negative reviews of this product), there still isn't a replacement for this product from any competitor yet. The other competitors' products covers your eyes. This produce gives you a choice to cover your eyes or not.... so you can wear it to do other things other than sleep.

I'm looking forward to the next generation version of this product; which will hopefully address the CON stated in this review.

I like these, but not perfect.
by Mike (5 out of 5 stars)

I give these 5 stars because if you step back they do something really cool - let you listen to music/meditation, etc. relatively comfortably in bed without disturbing your bedmate and not getting tangled in wires. So any complaints are really truly 'first world problems'. But here they are - the batter module is slim, well designed overall & for the size has good life, but science is still not yet at the place to be able to make it thin enough to be ultra comfortable (well not at a reasonable price point anyway i suspect). So some nights I don't notice it, but on others, depending on how I'm laying i can sometimes feel the little lump of the battery module & it bothers me - sometimes even shifts (i move around a lot) and ends up against my ear which can be somewhat painful even and wake me up. On the other hand, the headband can also be pulled down over your eyes to block out the light, which was an unplanned bonus. Batter module aside, I'd buy again & recommend this product.

Won't charge after less than a month
by Passion Fruit (1 out of 5 stars)
January 30, 2019

These headphones are a great concept. Sound quality is good, bluetooth pairing is easy, battery life is decent - when it works. After less than a month, plugged them in to charge and they won't charge. Exchanged for a new pair. Will see what happens. For the price, you should definitely get more than a month of use. Interesting to note that on the company's website, their year warranty does not cover the battery. Hmmm. If anything seems amiss prior to the end of Amazon's 30 day return policy, we'll definitely return the new pair and look for something else.

Good, but not worth it
by Arden (3 out of 5 stars)

Am I glad I got this? Yes. Did it serve my needs? No. What it does is very nice, and I have nothing else like it and don't even know if what I need exists so I'm not going to return it, but yes I am disappointed. So listen - people who have trouble sleeping, don't want to wake a partner up with music or want to easy wireless music for working out, these will be just fine. People like me with fibromyalgia and hyperacusis (hypersensitivity to sound) this will not save you from noisy neighbors or ambient sounds above a very low decibel level. No protection at all from vibration sounds. Also, they say the middle size fits all, and I don't think I have a very small head but it's too big. The nice things about it and reasons I don't want to return it: it comes with two different head wraps, one of a cool material and one of a warm. It's veeeery comfortable to wear (more than any other thing I have put on my head, much less headphones.) it's amazing for side sleepers as the headphones and power thingy both fit snugly in the head wrap and are totally flat. The quality of the sound is very gentle on the ears, easily audible even at a low level but not oppressive. Easy to pair, easy to adjust the volume, easy to charge and easy to pack and store. It's really a wonderful little thing, and although it doesn't block out that much sound, if you get the right relaxing YouTube music video going, it does help you relax and not focus so much on the painful sounds. Is it worth the cost? Honestly...no. I would place the value of a gadget that does what this thing does at maybe $30. I would be willing to pay up to $50, especially if the headband was somehow adjustable or even more comfortable, or if the sound blocking was a little better. But over $100? ...no.

by TJohnston (3 out of 5 stars)

I have had the AcousticSheep SleepPhones for a little while now and honestly I wouldn't pay $100 for them again. The speakers can be difficult to adjust on you ears and the wireless module has always required some cord gymnastics to get it to charge. It isn't as thick and padded as it looks in the picture and if you turn the wireless module away from you device it will most of the time cut out and stop getting a signal. The wireless module started to split and come apart a couple of weeks ago and required a little bit of tape to keep together. When they are working and you can get the speakers positioned properly they sound alright, and are pretty nice if you want to give your ears a break from ear buds. I did enjoy how they kept my ears warm this winter and I was able to use it in place of a sleep mask by pulling it over my eyes. That being said, again I don't feel they are worth the $100 I paid for them. If I had seen them in the store before buying them I would of kept looking or bought them if they were on sale for under $30.

Very comfortable and good quality
by TLB (3 out of 5 stars)
May 19, 2018

This is my second pair of SleepPhones, but these are a newer version than my last pair. My only complaint is the same as the last pair, the way they have to be charged. The unplugging and removing of the battery/devise every day is a major hassle. If I forget to recharge them then I can't use them that night.

My last set lasted 11 months, which for the cost, I would liked to have seen last longer. But overall, I will never go back to using non bluetooth headphones for sleeping. I use these as an eye-mask and they are really comfortable to sleep in.
