Not very ghost-like
by Alaina (3 out of 5 stars)

The indents in the ghost faces aren't very deep, so when they come out it's sort of hard to tell they are ghosts. I knew this could be an issue from looking at the pictures, but I desperately needed Halloween novelty ice cubes. This problem would be easily fixed if the face indentations were deeper. Also despite this being an "add-on item", it stills shipped separately from my other two items; I know that could be an issue with amazon but just throwing that out there. They did arrive in a timely fashion at least.

I love this! :)

I use these to make M&P soaps. They work great! The detail is perfect and the finished soaps pop out of the mold without any breakage. Yes, it is flexible/bendy/floppy...because it's ABS plastic resin (which is very similar to, yet slightly sturdier than silicone). I don't understand why some people are complaining. Don't expect something really sturdy when purchasing a silicone/ABSPR mold, unless the description states otherwise. You will be disappointed if you do.

Best way to prevent spilling: put a plate/Tupperware lid/piece of cardboard under it.

Tip for easy release: Pull each of the sides out (gently) until they separate from the ice/soap. Then turn upside down and push (gently) with your thumbs on each cavity until it is turned completely inside out.

Warning: Despite the label on the back, these are NOT dishwasher safe. They are fine for hot liquids, such as melted soap or chocolate, but will warp in the high heat of a dishwasher/oven.

Could be great!

My daughter and I were tickled to get these guys! We have other Fred ice molds and this is the one my daughter just had to have. The ice comes out perfect but after they melt in water it tastes like plastic chemicals. Have soaked them in dish water and washed them over and over but still nasty tasting. Very disappointed but still cute and I may use them for soap or crayons.

Very cute, but didn't survive the dishwasher
by Where the Sidewalk Ends (3 out of 5 stars)

This makes cute cubes that look great in a glass. I bough the tray for a Halloween party, and they the cubes it makes look great and very detailed when you use a colored water or juice. However after a cycle through the dishwasher, the tray come out shrunken and completely out of shape. I was perplexed as to how this could happen, since I assumed it was made of silicone, since it's said to be dishwasher safe. However after reading over the details about this tray, I discovered it's actually made of a plastic resin, not silicone. While it says it's dishwasher safe, I definitely didn't find it so. I wish I had known this, since I was only able to use it a few times before it was ruined. If I had known it would shrink/warp, I would have continued hand washing it.

Cool product but.....
by Ed (3 out of 5 stars)

....too 'floppy!' Filling this tray and carrying it over to the freezer leaves a trail of spilled water. The tray itself is too floppy to remain straight and level resulting in it bending and water draining from the cube compartments. As a result, you wind up with less than full ice trays. Putting the ice cube tray on something supportive does not help because you still need to transfer the tray to the freezer. Only solution I see is to fill the tray while already in the freezer. This is a remedy that is neither practical for me nor desired. I purchased the Fred & Friends Freeze Handgun-Shaped Ice-Cube Tray also and encountered the same issue. To a lesser extent, the same issues with Fred Cool Shooters Shot Glass Mold and the Tovolo 80-5521 King Cube Ice Tray.

Review for Craft Use

I didn't buy this product for making ice cubes; I bought it for molding plastic resin for making jewelery/magnets/etc.

As far as that goes, they work great! Once the resin has fully cured they pop out easily and nicely from these well-made silicone molds. I can only guess that they would work great for making ice cubes as well if they can handle the torture test of using liquid plastic in them.

I bought many molds to try out and these were definitely my favourites, by far! The skulls are adorable and the cross-bones are a very nice addition. Both have considerable detail and the mold itself is very well made!

Pros and cons
by John Kong (3 out of 5 stars)

Cons - SO DIFFICULT TO GET OUT. The tray is made out of rubber so it stretches and bends and because of the shape of the ice cubes, you have to struggle so much to get them out. Maybe try running them under warm water first but it's such a hassle if you just want ice in your drink. And like I said, the tray is made out of rubber and so when you put it in the fridge, you have to hold it on both ends or one side will droop and water will fall everywhere.

Pros - They do look really cool if you can get them out unbroken.

I recommend using it for special occasions, not day to day use.

Kitsch & fun, all in one!

I bought this, the teeth, guitar, and jewel ice trays. I read the reviews and was aware of the difficulty some people had in popping the cubes out. Personally I didn't think it was that bad. Perhaps my expectation was worse than the actual outcome. They definitely didn't pop out like normal harder plastic trays, but it doesn't take that long to pop them out and it wasn't really a big deal. The detail is great and the size of the cubes are nice. Volume wise they tend to be about the same if not more than regular cubes. Yes, you have to either freeze in advance, or order numerous trays if you are trying to amass a large quantity. Knowing that the tray is made of cooking-grade silicon, I expected the tray to be flexible and not rigid like standard ice cube trays. As stated in other reviews this does make it difficult to get from sink to freezer without spillage. However, I can deal with this knowing the outcome is supercool looking ice. I simply used a measuring cup to fill the trays once they were already placed in the freezer. One thing that is kind of a bummer is that depending on what you're drinking you can't see the ice. I've taken to freezing other liquids than water and that helps with being able to see the great detail. It also helps with adding flavor. When I use my lemon or lime jewels, I don't even need a fruit wedge. Grape and cranberry juice look fantastic in the teeth. I can't wait for Halloween! I will definitely buy Fred Flare products again!!!!!!

Great for so many things.

I have made ice, chocolates, polymer clay, and resin with this Ice tray and the only problem was with the cross bones in ice, they tend to break so be careful with them. Other than the Ice they work FANTASTIC!!!
