... I was a bit dubious but this thing charges like its plugged into a wall socket

Got to say I was a bit dubious but this thing charges like its plugged into a wall socket. I use it to charge a portable battery which I can then charge my IPad and bigger stuff with. When the suns out this thing cranks it. If its overcast...it'll kind of charge but that's still okay. I'd totally recommend it.

I on boxed it, simple to unfold, then put it in late afternoon sun. Connect phone to it, and low and behold the Android LG G3 charging indicator and i check it a few minutes later and it was up a couple percent. Neatest little gadget and its camo. Can easily connect to backpack with small bungee that is included. Update: Today I tried it under extreme clouds and it was charging my phone. With the phone on, it didn't seem to increase the percentage very much put it at lease maintained the charge under clouds.

I noticed other mobile products saying 20watts versus 6 here, but some of reviewers siad their 20 watt charger was really on 3 watts.

Nice construction. Poor electronics.

I really wanted this thing to work, but it just quits charging (iphones) after a few minutes unless there are no clouds whatsoever and the sun is DIRECTLY overhead (tested in Arizona in the summer). There are no indicator lights to try to tell if it's working or not. I have a feeling that one of two things probably happen:
1- The phone begins to charge, sucks too much current, voltage drop, then the phone gives up on the charger until its disconnected and reconnected.
2- The phone charges for a while, then a cloud floats by, voltage drop, then the phone gives up on the charger.

Both of these interrupt the charging and (at least iphones) the device won't restart charging until it's completely disconnected and reconnected.

Tried with a few phones and a few USB cables.

Physically, the unit is constructed extremely well. Rather than trash it, I'm going to try to replace the circuit with a modern MPPT charge controller that has status indicators to see if it works any better or at least is possible to diagnose.

I love this device

I love this device! It folds up easily and fits nicely into a backpack. It's durable and convenient for those times where you're not close to a power source to plug your devices into. It's perfect for camping and trekking. You never have to worry about running out of juice with one of these and it's also a must-have for any emergency electronics kits.

I am truly amazed by this product

I am truly amazed by this product. I rarely trust the product appraisals from companies, so I was sceptical about the efficiency of this item. However, I needed this kind of solar charger for at trip and a friend told me about how the Enerplex is a market leader. So, I went ahead and bought and this product has been way better than my expectations. I only have good things to report about. I actually also use it at home for charging my cell phone because I am so thrilled how well this works. Makes me in a good mood to the see the 100% charged on my cell powered by this magic item. :) I highly recommend.

Update
by R Ung (4 out of 5 stars)
August 27, 2016

Original: Product arrived and the package looks like it was torn open. Item was also missing what looks like is suppose to be a protective dust cover for the power output, also missing is the USB charging cable, and the elastic bands.

I would of kept the solar panel and not said anything but I tried to charge my phone with it after an hour no charge. Product dead on arrival, here's hoping the replacement they're going to send me works.

Edit 1: New product works as intended

Absolutely great product. If you're in outdoors and multi-day activities out of power grid this is definitely one of the best, if not the best solar chargers available. The only and really minor remark I have is to USB port rubber cap. It's not attached really well and it will probably fall off after is used for just a few times.

I am pretty stoked about this

I am pretty stoked about this. I have a delorme sat messenger and I wanted the ability to charge without starting the car. This thing nailed it and charged it no problems. And the Delorme sat messenger has a heavy duty battery. I am really happy about this. Light as hell too.

Solar Charger Didn't Work; Poor Customer Service
by K Stew (1 out of 5 stars)
February 28, 2017

I was introduced to and sold on the idea of EnerPlex solar products at the Denver Airport kiosk and based upon the information they gave me, I purchased the Kickr IV a few weeks later on Amazon. It didn't work. I tried to charge my iPhone 6 and an old iPhone 5 and neither of them would charge. I used an authentic Apple cable. I rebooted the phone repeatedly after getting the error message they warned about but it would not charge. I tried to charge a DeLorme inReach Explorer (GPS & satellite messenger) and it would not charge, even though the sales person said it would. I tried to charge my own battery bank, a POD X-1, which the sales person said would charge after I showed it to him, and it too would not charge. I had a long email exchange with EnerPlex, and was very dissatisfied with their customer service. I received conflicting information. I was told the iPhones and the DeLorme should charge properly but they did not. I was then told that the POD X-1 would not work as its voltage rating was too high; this contradicted what the original sales person told me. I purchased this because the technology looked solid, I liked the flexible panels, it was light, the company is in my home state of Colorado (however it is unknown where the panels are really made), I thought the support would be good, but I was wrong. I returned it because it flat out didn't work and the customer service person insisted it wasn't defective. I immediately purchased a Goal Zero Nomad 7 Plus, plugged in my phone, and then my DeLorme and they immediately began charging, as advertised. I do not recommend this EnerPlex product or this company.
