Features

• Operates on two, replaceable, alkaline 9 volt batteries. We say NO to cheap rechargeable batteries with high failure rates. PLEASE NOTE: The Stun Gun is NOT Rechargeable. Please use NEW Duracell 9 volt batteries, when you replace the batteries.
• On/Off safety switch and spring loaded activation trigger. The product activates when you turn the power ON and electrifies when you press the activation switch and stops when you release it. It is not the strongest stun gun but it sure does put on a show! The noises from it alone should deter many people. The weight of it is about like a 5D maglite. It has worked flawlessly. I want to touch it to see how well it works but my brain is not letting me.

There are good things and bad things to mention.The good:Having a arc that circulates around the baton.(no grabbing this thing)The unit is big and heavy.(batteries die, still a weapon)Takes normal 9v batteries(no rechargable crap.)The numerous arcs can be seen much better than a 2 prong single arc style.(very intimidating)Now the bad:No safety switch(have to be a little more carefull),cheap plastic handle(could crack pretty easy)The batteries move around in the handle(they should fit snug).The end cap is cheap and very easy to crossthread(Too fine of threads and should be metal)Don't get me wrong.The unit can and will do it's job if needed.I just think there is room for improvement.I'm sure a lot of owners would agree with my review.

Not Light Weight But Great Deterrent

I waited two months to write my review so that I would be able to make a fair assessment of this stun baton. I can honestly say I love it even though it is on the heavy side.
I walk my dog everyday, even on the coldest days of winter, in my neighborhood and at the park that is across the road. I am the main dog walker due to my hubby's work schedule.

In the three years since we adopted our dog my spouse and I have had numerous encounters with various loose dogs. Our own dog is an 18 lb Pom and is not dog friendly so he is always on a leash when walked (or contained in our fenced yard) and we even take the extra step of having him wear a Baskerville muzzle on walks to protect any dog who gets in his face.

Recently several new dogs have moved into the neighborhood who are not secured within their yards. This made me very nervous and I considered what to do as I did not want to end our walks. I also did not want to have to start carrying a firearm. So I started researching other options and decided a stun baton would be a good choice. I like the fact it is non lethal and I can use it while keeping a safe distance.

After looking at the many stun batons on the market we decided this was the one to buy. The fact it uses 9 volt batteries sealed the deal. I know the baton is always ready to use.

And I can also say that it does exactly what we hoped.

Two weeks ago while on a walk we were charged by a dog running loose. It came right up to us and our dog. My hubby was with with me this time and was carrying the baton. He whipped it out of the holster, held it up and hit the trigger. The sound and light show was enough. The dog turned around immediately and ran back to it's yard. The dog was unharmed and so were we.

This is EXACTLY why we bought it and it WORKED. I hope I never have to actually touch a dog with it but I will not hesitate to if we are attacked.

I feel much safer now that I carry this, I would buy it again without hesitation.

That said I was not prepared for just how large and heavy it is. To be honest, I was disappointed at first and almost sent it back for the smaller model. But I decided to keep walking with it to see if I could get used it. Thank goodness we also purchased the optional sheath. It was another added expense but I cannot imagine carrying the baton without it. I have the strap across my chest so I am able to hold the leash in one hand while resting the other on the sheath. I am used to the extra weight now and I will not walk without it.

It may not be practical for everyone and I understand that but I am very, very happy we bought it.

Buy some for your family. BUY IT!!! BUY IT!!! BUY IT!!!

Typically, just energizing the baton and saying 'NO" will repel dogs. It crackles and the electricity is visible at the tip and up along the sides.

Totally awesome. There are some states that prohibit this device. (crazy)

My wife walks the dog in a neighborhood that has loose dogs. A pit bull attacked last fall & she was able to repel with a small pepper spray after this we got the baton. No more problems (see above). Any non-gun attacker would be foolish to think they could get the 'victim' when they see/hear the crackle.

BONUS!!!! I dropped it. Cracked the casing. It still works albeit the two electrodes at the tip are damaged. I called the Omega Customer Service #. IMMEDIATELY, I talked to a cell phone carrying executive who said they would replace the baton upon me using the Amazon system to return it. I had asked if I could buy a new case & repair myself. BUT, he said they would send me a new one. I had said I bought another one as the raining season is coming and I didn't want the wife to be without this awesome protection. (I was concerned that liquids could get inside the baton and cook it). So, we will have two batons. One of the best investments I've ever made.

I will be looking for a neck/shoulder strap to carry the baton so when I stop to check my cell or attend to the dog doo doo both hands will be free. The baton is hefty and requires a method to carry- eiher your hand or a vest with a pouch or a strap. BUY IT!!! BUY IT!!! BUY IT!!!

Funky

This is a reasonably effective device that is "clunky" and just didn't wow me. When I cleverly managed to pick it up carelessly while depressing the momentary contact switch and with my other hand where it should not have been, I certainly felt the shock but it didn't stun me or take me down - and that was with the new alkaline batteries that the manufacturer thoughtfully supplies. Not a noticeable shock difference relative to much smaller and less expensive devices. I stopped carrying it because it is awkward to manage if you are doing anything else - like walking dogs.

The seller was super nice and responsive with answering questions. I'm a single mother who had to drive cross country with my family and I wanted more than pepper spray for a just in case moment. I call mine *starts whispering* "The black mamba" ....okay lol, but really this is a beautiful device and I felt very safe and secure having it. I know keep it very close as part of my "home security system" in addition to a few other items. It was worth every cent. The seller is awesome and though I haven't let it loose on anyone yet, the sound of it going off is intimidating enough. I was walking through a parking lit with my 2 small children in the evening and a stray dog started approaching us as I was trying to get them into the car, I let this baby rip and it sent the dog running. I bought a box of batteries for this because I never want it to get low in battery power. Thanks Omega!!

Mostly for home or vehicle placement. Difficult carry

This unit should be ideal to keep handy in the home or vehicle to ward off anything or anyone needing to be repelled. In my case I bought it to take on board an off-road vehicle which I use in a rural area where, unfortunately, some of the locals allow their dogs to run free and chase people, vehicles, anything. I was on the receiving end of a dog bite recently and I'm more than confident this powerful baton could easily protect me in the future. The voltage rating is honest (most are hyped and can be one sign of a junk stun-gun) and I believe the delivered current is 5 milliamperes, which may be the legal limit. So this is a maximum power unit with the added bonus of 360 degree electrical charge along the full length of a relatively long baton. It would be extremely easy to deliver a shock and sustain it on an attacker; furthermore, it would be very difficult for an attacker (in a hand-to-hand situation) to disarm anyone wielding this unit. I do wish the baton were a bit lighter and better balanced, but for what it is and does, the weight is probably necessary to the design, so no points deduction in my review for weight. Would I trade any function for less weight? No, not in my application. So you have to decide for yourself if this is the right tool for you. If frequent personal carry in a variety of circumstances is your primary use, this may not be the right product. If you don't mind lugging it along on walks (and don't mind not concealing it), want a capable home defense tool to augment other measures you may have on hand, or want something for vehicle carry, it may be perfect. Overall construction seems good, and I especially like the quality of the 9-volt battery connectors - you can do much worse. I had no problem installing the batteries (as some seem to have). I did add a small piece of light foam-rubber to the inside of the battery cap to stabilize the batteries inside the handle. Although some have suggested, I would not consider the device suitable for use as a striking baton. It's not made for that and may very well break and become disabled in its primary purpose as a stun-gun. I'm giving 5 stars because I really can't find fault when considered for its intended purpose (non-concealed carry, heavy duty). One other thing - some have complained about the lack of a safety switch. Speaking strictly for myself, I want as few obstacles in my way as practical to activating any self-defense tool. To those worried about the lack of a switch safety mechanism, I would simply suggest training, training, and more training - so important!

This is a big, powerful device. It is just what we were looking for. I am a 62 year old woman and it's no trouble at all for me to hold and carry. True, you can't carry this "hidden", but my main use is to deter stray dogs on my walks. And, while I hope I never have to actually use this on a man or beast, I feel fully protected because of the size and the fact the current arcs up the sides. I think it would be impossible for anyone to take it from you without touching it. The instinct would be to grab the sides and the trigger is placed on the handle in such a way as it's easy to hold and activate for as long as needed. The sound alone is so intimidating I think few would push it. We keep this on a bedside table at night, in easy reach. I truly think this is better protection than a gun for older folks because it's so simple to use. I also want to note that the customer service for Omega is amazing. One of my battery terminals was bent and they sent me a new one for free overnight! They are very accommodating and care about their customers.

Give me peace of mind

I feel safer when I carry this thing with me. I purchased this item because my leashed dog and I got attacked by a loose neighborhood dog while we were walking one night. People in my neighborhood constantly disregard leash laws and let their huge dogs run wild all the time. I had this stun baton with me one day, and a dog started to approach (different dog than the one that attacked before). I did a test shock in the air, and the noise was enough to deter the dog. It stopped in its tracks and left us alone.

I also take it with me when I go walking for fitness by myself. Being a female in this crazy world you can't be too careful. Not being a gun owner, the peace of mind it gives me is priceless. I honestly haven't got to stun anyone yet, which is a little disappointing (haha) so I am not certain if it will actually cause damage to an attacker. I did look up videos on YouTube before I purchased and it does seem pretty powerful.

My complaint is that it is somewhat heavy, which can be burdensome to carry especially when you're pulling a 60 pound bulldog around. The weight could be a good thing, because you could probably club someone if you had to. I would like to be able to find an affordable holster for it. I think the company makes one, but of course it is sold seperately and it is pricey.

I was looking for a means of protection from potential critter attacks and was checking out several types of electrified

batons before deciding on this one. Others looked real cheap and discardable but the construction type sold me on

this particular one. The unit is a little heavy and may be awkward to use like a twirler, but once you see those blue-white

high voltage arcs, you too will be convinced that any potential attacker would think twice before commencing any kind

of aggression. I am satisfied with this products' purchase and I hope I never have the occasion to use it. It seems as

robust as one could hope for in this type of product short of LE, and I'll see how it holds up.
