The set came exactly as advertised. Shipping took only 2 days, despite being told it would take 5. The pieces are perfect for 12 inch paver tiles. Everyone who sees this set thinks it is awesome, even people who don't know how to play the game. I added 2 pounds of sand to the base of each piece for extra stability. Picture attached.

We ordered this set after having so much fun playing "large chess" on vacation. The item arrived nearly a week earlier than the shipping estimate so that was a nice surprise! The pieces are super easy to assemble and feel like the same quality as the ones we used at our resort. We have them in an area somewhat sheltered from wind so we haven't had to weight them down yet but it would be easy enough to do. We didn't get the chessboard that was available with the set. I wanted something that looked more permanent so we ordered interlocking garage flooring tiles.

This product was definitely a hit. We debated whether to go one step larger (37 inch tall king) or one step smaller (12 inch tall king), but settled on this. When the product arrived, the recipient (my son) LOVED it. Of course, he promptly beat me in the first game using these pieces. I would definitely recommend this. I would, however, suggest that when you order this product, you also order the companion board.

My sons love this chess set. They love the larger pieces and it allows them to walk around and see the board at different angles not attainable with a standard chess set. Pieces are well constructed and durable for all ages.
