Pricey but worth it!
by Jenn J (5 out of 5 stars)
January 2, 2015

We bought this rod for a new construction bathroom. It is hung between textured drywall, above a fiberglass shower/tub insert. We hated to put holes in the new drywall, so we opted for the tension style. After reading several reviews, we settled on this one and are happy we did. So far, we are very pleased. It looks great in the bathroom, feels very sturdy, and makes our shower feel roomy!

It was fairly easy to install; however, it does require 2 people: one person to hold one end to the wall, while the other person adjusts the tension at the other end. There are actually 2 tension settings. First you tighten a screw in the rod to set the "approximate" overall length and then you twist a small section of rod to "fine tune" the length and tension.

BUYER BEWARE. Won't stay level and requires constant adjustment!
by J. Joy (1 out of 5 stars)

Like many other reviewers, our shower curtain rod will NOT stay level after less than a year of use. Installation was fairly easy. And our shower rod stayed in place fairly well for about 6 months or so. But for the last few months, it has sagged and become unlevel over and over again. The tension just isn't strong enough despite the fact that we're careful with the rod and are using a very lightweight curtain. I'm a handy person, so this is not a matter of not being installed properly or inability to adjust it. The only good thing I can say is that it hasn't rusted. But I'm incredibly frustrated to have to buy another rod after less than a year!

Sloppy craftsmanship, poor quality, defective product
by Honest review for the good and bad (1 out of 5 stars)
July 27, 2018

I've posted pictures of the sloppy craftsmanship, lack of quality control, & labels improperly affixed to product. In addition the plastic ring provided was too big and didn't fit the product. The plastic was of such poor quality made it split in several places after one attempt of installing it.

Sure, I could fixed their mistakes, drilled the holes, and made additional fixes to make it work, but this is such a simple device to have such poor quality tells me it won't last.

How difficult is it to put the "C" & "D" stickers on the correct end? He had a 50/50 chance of getting it right, and failed.

Anyone with vision would have noticed the neither holes were clean, neither bore was complete more like a half attempt and "meh, good enough." (see pictures), is it really such a sophisticated an item, so complexly engineered the person making, checking or packaging this item didn't notice these issues? Or did they just not care? Or was it quitting time and he wanted to get out of there? Even the directions were backwards and didn't match the item - were they old? Or from another item? With this level of quality, I'm guessing it isn't rust proof and it would break sooner rather than later.

Now I get to waste my time returning this item, fortunately I live in a large city and can fritter away a Saturday morning shipping it back. If Iived in a rural area, the headache of returning it would be greater.

This shower rod is so simple the fact it was so improperly (half) assembled is telling of a 1 star company. I post this hoping I will spare you the disappointment and time. Not only did I waste my time counting their mistakes, write this review, returning the product but still need a shower curtain. This was a fail.

After reading this and you still buy it, open it immediately to make sure all the parts are provided work and are, well...provided.

You don't want to miss your return window. If it isn't worth returning because you paid so little for it and plan on tossing it in the trash? Please skip buying it, don't fill our landfills with rubbish. I don't even think the " metal" can be recycled.

And that is my honest review.

Easy Install; I Did It By Myself
by Jen (4 out of 5 stars)
September 24, 2015

I expected a difficult assembly/installation based upon product reviews but I didn't find it hard. The instructions were pretty clear and there weren't a lot of parts. I had no problem tightening the five small screws with the included hex keys. I'm 5'4", generally handy, and it took maybe 25 minutes.

My shower is small (56" wide) but the curved rod still adds a noticeable amount of room inside.

I wasn't sure whether I should place the rod further back into the shower to offset the outward curve. I found it wasn't necessary and put it where my old straight rod was. Some websites recommend placing it 3" further back from straight rods but my guess is that this matters more with larger showers where rod will extend further out; you'll have to try it out to find the best placement. The outer lip of my toilet bowl is 8.5" away from my tub. It was enough room to have the end caps 1" back from the tile edge and still maintain good room between it and the curtain.

I just installed it tonight so I don't know how it'll hold up in terms of rust. If it does last then it definitely deserves a five-star rating for its price. I understand that some people had issues with faulty parts but I wouldn't be overly concerned about that. Amazon has a stellar replacement/reimbursement policy. Just contact them (not necessarily the seller) if something goes wrong.

Oh, I got it in "Heritage Bronze" and was pleased that it is indeed a shade of brown - not black like so many other products claiming to be "oil rubbed bronze"!

Tips:
-The instructions don't specify this but the mounting brackets (parts A & B) ship inside the end caps (part E). The first step is that you simply pop them out. I used a flat head screwdriver.
-Slide curtain rings onto the bar before you connect the two rod pieces. Hang the curtain afterward.
-Tighten the rod so it's temporarily secure, use a level to confirm it's level, then do the final tightening.

The other products you see in the picture are Two-Layered Embroidered Fabric Shower Curtain with Attached Valance (Off-White and Gold) in Chocolate Brown and Heavy Duty Roller Shower Curtain Rings, Oil Rubbed Bronze Clipperton RollerRings®, Set of 12

Super easy to install
by Ptyof5 (5 out of 5 stars)

These were very easy to install - easier than any of the other ~6 types I have installed in my life. Look great - will see if they truly never rust but so far so good! Only tools needed (two allen wrenches) were in the box. Instructions were good and only steps to install. Note: these do NOT bolt into your walls. They work by pressure against the walls and have a clever way to adjust near the right length and then tighten in good. The bases that are against the wall (5-6 inch diameter) are bigger than some to distribute the pressure and hold them in place solid.

More complicated than a standard tension rod
by Kai Roberts (4 out of 5 stars)
October 1, 2018

First of all, I really like the look of this rod -- it's more contemporary and "high end" with its curved lines. I'd give it five stars for looks but must deduct a star overall for its assembly. It is a bit more complicated than the usual tension rod. That is not a game changer, but you should be aware of it before purchasing. The daunting part is the initial discovery that there is a 9 page instruction booklet and three different wrenches included. But that's misleading, the instructions are in a variety of languages but the English ones are clear and the illustrations are helpful. Okay -- now, it's still a bit fussier to install than I thought it would be. One reader said that two people are needed --- not necessarily -- I managed (a bit awkwardly, I will admit) by myself, but it would have been easier to have had another person's help when putting the finished rod into place. It took several attempts for me to get it positioned properly, mostly due to the curvature of the rod. Without someone to help stabilize the rod, tt had a tendency to roll inward on me when I was increasing the tension. Once completed, however, it looks great -- just bring a bit of patience to the task. As to durability: so far, so good, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Given it's above-mentioned tendency to roll inward, I'm cautiously optimistic, at best.

I don't think I've ever been so happy with a purchase on Amazon
by Bart Scovill (5 out of 5 stars)

I don't think I've ever been so happy with a purchase on Amazon. I purchased two of these rods, one in oil rubbed bronze and one brushed nickel. Both are extremely well made and have beautiful finishes. They were extremely easy to mount with two people. I had read about the difficulty with the end cap screws, and two of them did give me trouble with the oil rubbed bronze finish, but the end result is recessed screws that are barely noticeable, so I felt it was worth the effort.

We purchased these because we just retiled our two bathrooms, and had planned on installing shower doors. Because I wasn't convinced shower doors were the best option, and given the low cost of these rods in comparison to shower doors; I decided to try one of these first. Also, since these don't require hardware to mount, they would be easy to swap out with shower doors if we felt that was a better option. Well, once installed, these were just very impressive. They are very stable. I can throw my wet towel over the top without the least movement. They also make the shower feel much larger than before. I have the impression of a big walk in shower. I know shower doors would not have had the same affect, not to mention these cost a fraction of the price of doors. The only negative experience was while placing the curtain rollers on the rod, I scratched the finish of the oil rubbed bronze rod, but I was able to hide the exposed bronze with a black sharpie.

I would unreservedly recommend this product to anyone looking for an inexpensive way to improve their shower.

Easy, quick install.
by Leah (5 out of 5 stars)

Guys. I'm a pretty handy girl but I was a little intimidated at the thought of installing own shower curtain. Saw some mixed reviews on here, but I thought I'd give it a shot. And I'm SO glad I did. Since I've moved into my apartment a year ago I've been unhappy with how small my shower is, and my arm bumping into the curtain while showering. This rod will totally fix that!!

My only note- one part of the instructions tell you to "twist the rod twice" before you set the final pin. This confused me (twist what? Twist and move? Just twist?) so I gave the rod a little extra length and set the pin. That was a mistake, as then the rod was too long. Easily, easily fixed though by loosening the pin and shortening the rod. After that, I put it in place and twisted the heck out of it to get tension. I'm guessing you want the rod to be like a half inch or quarter inch smaller than how wide your opening is. I moved the curtains over to the new rod, but haven't showered yet. I'll update this if I experience anything less than stellar performance when I'm using it, but currently I'd say "Go for it"!

- Easy-ish setup - Looks nice Cons: - It doesn't stay up for more ...
by Dan (1 out of 5 stars)

Pros:
- Easy-ish setup
- Looks nice

Cons:
- It doesn't stay up for more than four or five days at a time. I bought this a month ago and it's fallen more times than I can count.
- The metal "cups" on the end dug in and wrecked the paint on my wall. They're also big, so I couldn't quite shut the curtain all the way.
- The two rods don't fit together very snugly, meaning the curtain rings get caught on them whenever you try to pull the curtain.
- The curve wouldn't stay at the right angle. Ideally, you want it facing horizontally away from the tub, but it would slowly tilt so it was facing down over a couple days. This made it difficult to fully pull the curtains to the wall.

I eventually replaced it with a $12 rod, which is a definite improvement over it. I wouldn't buy this again.

Not worth it

I lost my mind today trying to install this! Terrible instructions. End pieces won't stay on. Feels very cheap and won't stay tight. Not worth the money and shouldn't be a recommendation by Amazon.
