Response to Braeden- wow.. They claim "wootz Damascus". Anyone who has started down the road of sword collecting knows first and foremost, the art and skill of producing this type of metal has been lost. There ARE replica's that claim this forging method however, it's not possible since the original makers of Wootz-Damascus steel that originated in INDIA.. Not China and didn't even become known to the world as such until around the early 1900's are long deceased and took their methods with them. Also, the carbon isn't not added during the folding process, it's added during the forging of iron sand via charcoal pieces while heating the sand to excess of 2000+ degrees. Your "facts" are also without any degree of accuracy.

First off this isn't Damascus steel, Damascus has a very distinct swirling patern this has no pattern. Second Damascus steel was originally made in the middle East not in China. I don't think there's a single thing that's correct on here.

To Derek nordlund, first off, it takes special preparation to make the damascus pattern visible, secondly the JAPANESE have always folded their steel to add carbon so the blade holds a sharper edge. (Also you fold and layer steel to make it into a damascus style.) Thank you.
