Your lack of ice no longer disturbs me

If I were you, I wouldn't regard any other review less than 5 stars. I don't know what people expect for getting something out of a frozen mold. Water expands when it freezes. You have to play around a bit to get the right amount of water so that it doesn't overflow with ice and make the top and bottom come apart a bit, but it really takes minimal effort to get them out. It's amazing for any Star Wars fan.

Consistently good Death Stars
by Val R (5 out of 5 stars)

Surprised at how well these worked. Thought they'd be more gimmicky but they actually work well. Consistently good Death Stars, design visible. Design is easier to see if you use boiling water as that helps the ice freeze clear.

The two halves stay together well during freezing so you don't get oblong spheres. A nubbin at the top forms if you overfill it, but it is easy to break off with a moderate tap. We've used these several times since we bought them and they are holding up well. Have not tried using them for anything except ice, but might try using them for chocolate molds.

Ice, Ice, Vader!
by David (5 out of 5 stars)

These molds do a great job, however you cannot expect to get crystal clear ice from them simply as they are. Getting perfectly clear ice takes an understanding of how ice freezes (from the top down). As such, you'll trap all the impurities (gasses, minerals, etc.) in the ice in a mold such as these. The images are quite a bit misleading to say the least. You more likely than not end up with ice similar to the "Before" image in the "Before and After" picture of my ice that attached.

more like an asteroid than a moon
by Don M. (5 out of 5 stars)

These work as described. Be sure to not fill them entirely with water, or the expansion will pop them open and you'll get a deformed death star, more like an asteroid than a moon. They give nice detail once frozen, but with all items like these it's very hard to make them crystal clear, so expect a foggy death star.

Come to the dark side and have a drink.

SO cool! You need a flat spot in the freezer to set them on but other than that they are super easy to use. They make perfect Death Star ice spheres. They look awesome floating in a drink. They are bigger than I'd expected which is great. The ice ball ends up being slightly smaller than a tennis ball. One fits perfectly into a standard pint or rocks glass.

which removes the cool "Death Star" design from the outside
by Karen (2 out of 5 stars)

The ice ball often gets stuck and is hard to remove. In order to remove the ice from the mould, you need to run it under water, which removes the cool "Death Star" design from the outside. Disappointed.

Nerd cool
by Jonathan (4 out of 5 stars)

Seem to work pretty well but I am still trying to figure out the perfect amount of water to fill with. Too little and it isn't a sphere. Too much and it gets a ring around it and a bump on top. Will be good once I find a graduated cylinder and lock down how many milliliter it takes for the perfect fill

Really cool item
by R. Garten (5 out of 5 stars)

There is a little bit of a learning curve figuring out just how much water to put in each sphere, but the result are cool and always get a comment from guests etc. Also, saying "That's no moon" while gazing at one never gets old.

Makes fun little death star ice balls but it's hard to ...
by Carolyn (4 out of 5 stars)

Makes fun little death star ice balls but it's hard to figure the right amount of water to fill the sphere... the death star ice sphere usually ends up with an extra "nub" or excess ring of ice. Kept 2 of the 4 and gave the other two to adult male friends who love Whiskey and Star Wars. :)
