Exactly what we were looking for.

Very good grill for its size and weight.

For our Airstream, size and weight are serious considerations. Our only external storage had an opening that is only 11" high, so this limited our search for an excellent grill that would also fit. The Napoleon fit the bill perfectly.

Of generally very good construction, the design allows for unusually even grilling and roasting. Because the 12000 BTU is spread over two burners as against to our previous grill whose 11000 BTU was a one burner unit, I assumed and was correct that chargrilling a thick steak rare was not going to be as successful as with the older grill--the 12000 BTU means 6000 BTU per burner. So for that particular grilling application, one must partially roast the beef by closing the lid periodically and letting the heat build up before opening again for the broiling/grilling effect. The end result was pleasing, but took some getting used to the timing.

For chicken, vegetables, and the like--anytime you want to cook with the lid closed or have thinner objects like vegetables for grilling--it works beautifully. The thermometer indicates extremely high temperatures when the grill is not actually that hot (according to the way the items are sizzling). But otherwise, an excellent unit.

The legs are quite sturdy, but lightweight, and fold up evenly. The grease pan is very easy to remove and to clean. And the interior shape, which is curved gently like a flat bowl towards the grease pan opening, makes it fairly easy to clean the inside by wiping towards the grease pan, working around the inside fixed elements. With the easily removable and very substantial two piece grill, it is fairly easy to keep the inside of this unit clean. Their suggestion to "season" the two grills periodically with vegetable shortening (they are heavy cast iron to retain and radiate heat evenly) as you would with a fine cast iron pan, is a good one. I follow their suggestions for cleaning, and after using a bronze brush to scrape off the larger reside and then heating the grill for a few minutes with the lid close to remove the rest, a wipedown in place with folded paper towel, followed by a second wipe with vegetable shortening, both cleans and protects the grilling surfaces.

Very pleased with our purchase so far. Bought a travel bag in which to store it, as it is clear that the very attractive blue cover's paint could get scratches fairly easily. We use the cover from our earlier marine quality grill (just lucked out that it fit perfectly) too, as one of the places where we camp has hard mineral deposits in the sprinkler system and this keeps it from caking on the grill.

Great portable grill for flexible cooking
by Amazon Customer (4 out of 5 stars)

I ordered this to replace my Charbroil Grill2Go. The G2G was great (solid, durable, compact, etc) but it was difficult to get the heat low enough for items requiring longer cook times, such as chicken, ribs, etc.

The Napoleon has been super! Although it is a few pounds heavier and has slightly larger overall dimensions, it is still compact and fits into the storage area in our motorhome. Cooking with it is phenomenal! With the dual burners, it is easy to cook anything. Ribs (and other items) can be indirectly cooked. Everything has come out very tender and juicy. I've used wood chips to generate smoke, as well. And, there is plenty of heat for steaks and burgers. It is easy to clean, particularly if you brush the grates and oil them each time before cooking -- simple task and worth it! The only thing that would have made it a 5-star would have been a taller space inside to cook taller items (they do have a model that is taller, but it is also 5 pounds heavier, and I didn't want the extra weight). Very pleased so far, and I would recommend it.

Flame doesn't go up as high as I'd like. But as long as you give it time ...

This is a very solidly made grill. Flame doesn't go up as high as I'd like. But as long as you give it time to fully come up to heat, it gets the job done. Planning to buy the griddle plate, so I can cook breakfast on it. Note: This thing is not lite. I take it in and out of our RV storage, wouldn't want to carry it far. Nonetheless, it's a good product.

Napoleon TQ285

I read a few reviews on line about the top 10 best portable grills. The napoleon was alwas in them, so I decided to buy it.

The pros: portable, heats up fast and gets very hot, portable. The point I like best is that the flame does not go out on windy days. My previous grill kept going out if the wind was blowing. Cast iron grates.

The cons: the top is thin metal, not cast aluminum like the bottom, the cast iron grates have a wavy pattern in them. The wavy pattern makes the grates harder to clean. The grill is heavy ( not sure if this is good or bad).
I did notice that after the burners are lit, if you push the control knobs in there is a flame that comes out inside the grill. ?

Overall I like the grill.

Minor issues

I've used mine a year and am generally happy with the quality. Heat is somewhat uneven and paint is burning off but it works once you know your hot and cool spots. We did have some issues with the service dept. sending us the wrong adapter kit for a 20# gas tank but that option was why I chose this one.

Love this grill

I relay love this grill. High quality controls and burner where it matters. easy to light, heats fast cooks well. almost like cooking on a broiler. Easy to carry, easy to store. I wish I had bought the version with the stand but it simply would not fit the storage area in my camper. I would buy this again.

This is a very nice tabletop grill! Good quality, no problems so far, lights easy and the high setting isn't TOO high of heat. Lots of surface area for a tabletop/travel grill!

Bought one for my RV. Used it 4 times over 3 weeks during the Fall of 2015. Loved it so much I bought another one for my son in his new apartment. He was very impressed! No hot spots. Even very hot heat. Portable. The price is right. Easy clean up.

I have only had this grill for 1 month but it has met my expectations. I added a hose to connect to a 20lb. Propane tank. Heats up quickly so I don't spend all evening cooking.
