Product Description

Making Ice Cubes by the Bucketload is Easy How long does it take to freeze water into perfectly sized ice cubes? With Ivation's automated icemaker, it takes just 6 minutes! That's right: In less time than it takes to drive to the nearest store or gas station for a bag of ice, you can have a fresh batch of ice cubes made right in the comfort of your own home. Simply pour a water into the bucket and you'll enjoy beautifully solid chillers that remain separated and don't agglomerate. 26-pound output. 3 ice sizes. 0 water waste. The Ice Machine features 3 selectable ice cube sizes so you can satisfy everyone from the whiskey sipper to the juice junkie. At maximum output, it can produce as much as 26.5 pounds of ice in a single 24-hour cycle. Another superior feature is the water recycling system: Unused ice melts back into the water reservoir and is turned into fresh ice during the next ice-making session. Smart Alerts Inform You of Cold, Hard Facts When the water level in the 2.8-liter (95-Ounce) reservoir runs low, you'll be alerted to add more water. When the ice bucket is full, you'll be alerted to remove them so more ice could be created. Other alerts include ice not moving into the bucket correctly, and when an ice-making session is on standby. The programmable timer allows you to set the icemaker to start and stop on its own at any time of the day, and the unit shuts off automatically when the ice bucket is full for safety. To make way for new ice, store ready cubes in cooler or freezer for later use. Crap-tastic!

So I had this wonderful dream of making ice in my RV. Unfortunately, it is still not a reality. For Father's Day, I was given this particular unit with high hopes. Most of the feedback was pretty high and most people seem satisfied. So I waited a couple of days and my unit arrived. The condition of the box didn't look great when it arrived, however I gave it the benefit of the doubt and unpacked the item, and followed all the instructions. There are even some videos on YouTube displaying this particular unit and how it's used. It looked like a cinch. sadly, the unit but never actually make ice. I put the water into the suggested fill line and then started the unit and it would keep telling me to add more water. I reread the instructions a few times and scoured the Internet for any kind of help I could find. I was watching all the other videos of people making ice there was no hoops to jump through. My unit was just broken.

I know there are units out there that do indeed work because I've read they're positive feedback. Be aware though that many of these ice making units are refurbished and don't take much to become damaged in shipping I know there are units out there that do indeed work because I've read they're positive feedback. If you do decide to buy one of these things, try your best to buy it from your local store so you can return it if it doesn't work or even last that long.

Great Product

I am extremely happy with this icemaker, now that I've experimented with it and read other reviews.

Out of the box, set it up and waited the half hour for the refrigerant to settle. Included was a plastic bag containing what looked like a tiny stopper, but there was nothing in the instructions relating to it. Before calling the seller, I read all the Amazon reviews and found one that explained it was a replacement drain plug (which is covered by a screw-on cap).

After cleaning the unit, filling it with water, and pressing the start button, it began working, but immediately stopped with a "low water" alarm. I figured it needed to prime the pump, so I unplugged it and started over. It has run flawlessly since.

It takes about 75 minutes (about 9 cycles) to fill the basket with small cubes. Each cycle produces 9 cubes. The cubes are frosty, not clear as one reviewer posted. I store the unused cubes in the freezer in ziplock bags, as the cubes do agglomerate. I can easily break them apart by slamming the bag on the counter.

"I have to have it!!"

i was shopping online for the best deal on a portable ice maker. Most were much more expensive without the key features that are available on this machine. The digital display is fantastic and the ability to choose between 3 sizes of cubes is awesome. When it arrives be sure to let it sit for at least 30 minutes and the manufacturer suggest cleaning out the inside of the water reservoir and ice basket. The speed at which the ice is made is amazing. I like to set it on small so I can crunch on the cubes. The timer setting for on/off time is great; the ice maker also stops when the basket is full or when the water reservoir is low/empty. You can also shut the machine off manually. I was going to spring out over $175 for a Coca-Cola memorabilia but saw this and said..."I have to have it"...

Good while it lasted.

A very nice looking ice maker. As some have noted, it is very noisy and has many beeping signals that go on night and day. That didn't bother me much. It made ice really well - for about four months. Now it doesn't cool and has an error reading that the ice tray is full - with no ice. I used only pure bottled water. It was replacing an ice maker of a different make that failed after about two years of service. Good luck.

Exactly what I expected!

First of all, I knew exactly what I was buying. I was buying a portable ice maker - not a freezer, not a ice maker like they have in the gas station that makes a ton of ice but an small counter top ice maker! Having said that I love this little machine. The day I received it, I unpacked it at set it on the counter to sit for a day before use. Although the boxed was marked with which way was up, I had no way of knowing whether or not the delivery company noticed and heeded the directions. After it sat for a day to let the refrigerant settle, I started to use ice make ice and tons of ice. All of the ice I made with the first filling of the reservoir I threw away to make sure it was clean and there was no funny taste to the ice. Started keeping all the ice after that and the ice tasted fine. Usually the first batch to drop from the machine after not using it for a day is a bit small, I dump those into the reservoir. After that the ice is perfect. Remember this makes one ice tray at a time but it makes it much faster that my freezers ice maker. You get a tray of ice every 10 minutes without fail.I usually transfer the ice to my freezer every few trays, if I remember. Yes, the ice is wet, but that is how it is loosened from the ice mold and yes, every so often I have to break it up after it is in my freezer - so what! Now, when I store it or take it camping with me, I will always keep it upright so the refrigerant remains where it is supposed to be. I will also let it sit for about an hour before use so everything can settle after moving it. So far so good. It keeps both ice buckets (old vegetable drawers) in both my freezers full and have a few 2 gallon ziploc bags full of ice stored in my deep freezer.

SUPER FAST & DISABLE BEEP INSTRUCTIONS
by WizGeek; ArtfulCutie (5 out of 5 stars)

FANTASTIC! And the beep can be disabled (see below.) This ice maker is super fast and relatively quiet; the only sound is the compressor that operates at a low-level hum.

TO DISABLE THE BEEPING:
1. Unplug and empty the unit using the rear drain plug.
2. Remove rear cover screws: top(2), bottom(3), feet(2); tilt cover back, down, and off to the side taking care with the power cord.
3. On right side (left from the rear,) remove the two rearward screws(2) from the electronics box case, and slide the cover back and off.
4. Remove the circuit board screws(4) and pull out the the board.
5. Note the small drum-shaped piezo-electric speaker at the top-rear.
6. At the back of the circuit board behind the piezo speaker, use an X-acto knife to cut through the copper trace leading to the speaker lead; the one NOT leading to the tiny resistor is the better one.
7. (optional) Solder wires to both sides of the cut trace and connect them to a toggle switch on the circuit board case or the rear cover.
8. Reverse the process to reassemble.

Wonderful for anyone without an ice maker in their fridge.
by JmcD (5 out of 5 stars)

I've had this for about a week now and seriously love it. We have a fridge with no ice maker and I finally broke down and bought this hoping it would be an ok substitution. It makes quite a bit of ice in a few short hours...I was able to fill a standard ice bin (you know like the ones that go on the door of a freezer) in a couple hours. One tray of water wouldn't even freeze in that same amount of time. It's also really quiet...about as loud as a small fan.

The downside, for me, is that the ice comes out of the machine pretty wet so when I transfer the ice to the freezer bin it all freezes together. While I'm making ice, every time I go to transfer ice to the freezer I shake the bin around to loosen it. It helped the first couple times but not so much this last time...not sure why. Do I love stabbing ice like a crazy woman to get suitable chunks? No. Do I love that I have a bunch of ice as compared to none? YES.

Absolute Crap

I bought this ice maker back on Amazon in mid-2016. I actually had to return the first one because it stopped working shortly after using. I figured it was just a lemon. I crossed my fingers hoping the replacement would work. It did just fine each summer since until we took it out a few days ago. After plugging it in again: silence.

Were these units built to last no more than a couple of years or so? Not only its it a waste of time and money, but it's bad for the environment as all of the one's that have broken down head towards the landfill.

I also asked the manufacturer/distributor, iVation, what they were doing to remedy the poor quality of this product; if they could provide a shipping return label to Edison, NJ where they are located so they could get a visual of the mountain defunct products the company puts out. I'm not asking for a replacement or a refund since its out of warranty. I just want them to address why they produce such low quality products. In fact, all customers who have experienced similar issues were to request from the company a shipping label to have their now defunct product shipped to them, it would send iVation a grand gesture.

If you're looking for something that lasts and not add to the already heap of existing trash, please look elsewhere.

Was good while it lasted.

I ordered my first ice maker 12/2014 worked great absolutely loved it. Loved it so much that I ordered another one 2/2016 because i kept finding little bits of something in the reservoir no matter how many times I cleaned it. (I thought it was something I was doing wrong). So on to the new one after awhile same thing with the bits of whatever. Clean it really good (I clean often any way according to the instructions) & now the thing just will not freeze the water. The machine sucks up the water but that's it. So after two machines 1st one $179.00 & 2nd $99.00 I give up. Bought one from Walmart for $119.00 with a 2 year warranty. If this one breaks at least I can get a replacement.

Great little machine 'til it stopped working after 6 months!
by Patty P (3 out of 5 stars)
January 20, 2016

This was a great little ice maker but it has stopped making ice today and it's only 6 months old. My roommate and I relied strongly on this machine to make ice so we are encouraged to drink more fluids because we both have Stage 3 kidney disease. We cannot afford to replace this machine nor do we have the ability to return it, so I guess we are stuck. Sent an email to the seller but don't know if that will do any good. I would give this 5 stars had it not stopped working. What a shame and disappointment to two old ladies who love ice in their water, etc. I even recommended this machine to a fellow resident of our assisted living facility and he bought one. I hope his lasts longer than 6 months.
