I removed a dog from my dog!!
by Bum Fussel (5 out of 5 stars)

Pretty Amazing!! I removed a whole other dog from my dog. The enclosed photo just shows the pile from the 4th (!!) brushing. I wouldn't actually call this tool a dematting tool. It's more like a preventing mats tool. If there were an actual attached, firm mat, I think the only thing that would remove it would be shavers (not scissors, you'll cut your dog).

I was thinking my dog must have some small percentage of poodle genes in her, because she never sheds. Then I started looking closer through her fur because I noticed she was much wider than she used to be. Sure enough, she had all this fur that she had lost, but was just intertwined in her fur, next to her skin. I tried many different implements and nothing worked to removed that fur. (I don't know, is that considered an undercoat?)

This tool is amazing. It has two sides, with the teeth spaced at different widths. The first go-through you should use the wide spaced side. Then graduate to the narrower spacing.

I'm sure pulling out the intertwined fur is a little annoying for the dog. But the teeth themselves don't seem to bother her at all. They look sharp, but they are nice and rounded and are fine against her skin, as long as you don't press too firmly.

I have gone through many grooming tools over the years. I'm constantly looking for one that works and my dog tolerates it. I think this us much better than the Furminator because it goes easier through the fur and doesn't hurt as much. And it's way, way less expensive.

I'm quite impressed and the company really seems to stand behind its product. Not that I needed to return it or anything.

Fantastic tool!

WOW, this is one amazing coat comb! I ordered this one because of the width - it's made for bigger dogs, long fur/hair. I got bags and bags of hair off my dog in minutes. The best part is that this comb does not hurt at all! I have two shepherds: one English shepherd (similar to a collie coat) and one Anatolian. These dogs have intense undercoats but this comb some how easily grabs that loose undercoat hair and helps it escape! The attached photo was taken after I had brushed the dog 4 times! This was the 5th brushing of just her back and neck. This is from the English Shepherd. She hated the other comb and used to hide when she saw it, but this one she lies down for and relaxes when being groomed. Fantastic tool!

Best undercoat rake ever!!!

I am a dog groomer and have tried tons of undercoat rakes and this is hands down the best!!! Every groomer in my salon asks to borrow it when they have a furry dog! It also works amazing for long haired cats!!!! Just be careful you don't over brush because sharp products like this can cause brush burn! But it is definitely worth it I absolutely love this product :)

The one good thing about it is that it can remove knots ...

No fault to the seller, this brush does remove hair. However it does so by cutting it with the razor edges in the curves. It doesn't brush it out, it cuts it out. Think of giving layers to a human girl head of hair. That's what this does. So you are left with a thinner coat and less hair, not just brushed hair. The one good thing about it is that it can remove knots without having to cut the whole mass out. It can reduce the mass until it's brushable. Know what it actually does and doesn't do and you won't be disappointed. To those who complain it hurts the animal, well brushing knots out is never fun. But this way they can be worked out at bit easier. I would NOT use this anywhere on my Pomeranians except for when giant mats form due to my neglect.

Not for Long or Curly Haired Animals
by Kyle & Julie (2 out of 5 stars)

I have a Peek-a-Poo and a Lab/Husky who both require constant maintenance for their coats. For the Peek-a-Poo, the goal is to prevent matting. For the Lab/Husky, the goal is to remove the undercoat. I have used this brush/tool on both of my dogs and I do not understand all of the reviews that say it does not pull their hair. It absolutely slowly pulls it out. It is very difficult to pull through long or curly coats and both of my dogs, who are very accustomed to being groomed, are clearly feeling pain when they are being brushed with this. It's true that it doesn't yank or cut the hair, but it does pull it out, similar to slowly pulling a Band-aid off a wound. I would not recommend this for long hair or Poodle-type hair, at all.

Best Buy ever!!!!!

My Siberian husky has a super silky coat and we though we had the only dematter that would work for him, boy we were wrong. That picture is the result of two one minute long brushing sessions with the different brushes!!! It's seriously mind boggling. I'm actually a little mad I went 3 year without it! If you have any doubts let me ease your mind now just buy it, it really works!!

A must for any dog owner

I have to say that this is the best grooming tool I have ever bought. My dog has a lot of fur. And sheds all the time. My rugs looked like a disaster and my car's black interior had become blonde like my dog. It took me 1 hour to brush her with this comb and it took out alot of the undercoat that was so thick (It looked like I had combed out another large dog!!!). As an added bonus my dog loved being brushed with it too. Since removing all of the extra fur - no shedding or scratching. I wish I would have bought this sooner.

UPDATE:

I have been grooming my dog for a while now. Since she loves being brushed with this, I tend to brush her twice a week. To say this is a miracle grooming tool is an understatement. The grooming tool has kept my dog from continuously shedding everywhere. My car and house are staying fur free. The tool has also stopped my dog's continuous scratching. I have told everyone at work and all my family about this magical tool. This tool makes washing her and drying her so much easier and less time consuming.

Not "The Best"
by Nicole (3 out of 5 stars)

After reading some rave reviews on how this is the perfect tool for long hair dogs, I was really excited for it to arrive. We have a 1 year old Newfoundland who was starting to develop some matted fur after our old brushes proved to be inadequate. While this tool is effective at stripping away shaded fur, it sucks to use on matts. My girl does not like it at all because of how aggressive it pulls her fur, and actually starts biting me after a few strokes.. and I don't even push down with it.

Personally, I've found the Furminator to be more gentle and efficient at brushing her, and ended up taking scissors to the matts because nothing else was working without hurting her.

This was like a medieval torture device for my dog
by Julie (1 out of 5 stars)

This was like a medieval torture device for my dog. I have a rough coated collie who sheds about a dog and a half worth of hair a day it seems. Usually we use a Furminator, and while that does a great job, it definitely pulls and scratches his hair. I liked how the grabbers on this tool were rounded so they seemed less likely to scratch and irritate my dog's skin, and after reading many glowing reviews from users who had no issues it, I thought this could be a good alternative. Unfortunately, it is not. The teeth went down to the undercoat, which seemed great, but it quickly became caught in the longer hairs of his topcoat. This might be a good tool for thicker haired dogs with a shorter top coat (i.e., husky), but I would not recommend it for a long haired dog like my collie.
