Provides the seal I was looking for. Just don't add it to the very top section of the smoker near the hinges or else the cooking chamber door won't close correctly. I also added small squared off pieces to the hinge areas so that the metal "L" doesn't contact metal.

Applied this to my rec tec 680 and what a difference. No more smoke escaping from all around the lid. I'd noticed that where ever I placed the Amazing smoke tube, tons of smoke would just pour out of the lid right above it. Now, the smoke circulates inside and only escapes from the chimney. More smoke flavor.

I bought a smiley mountain Weber grill and noticed some leaks around the door and lid. The grill is great but I wanted it better. I bought this product for the size and high temp resistance. Perfect fit for my 18.5" WSM. Cleaned the grill very well with Weber grate cleaner and 90 proof rubbing achahol. I let dry and wiped it with a paper towel. Applied some black hi temp food grade calking and Kaye's it on top. After sealing the door frame and lid lip rest I had some left over so I decided to seal the bottom section as well and placed some on the bottom middle section. I put the grill back together and will let this set overnight. Tomorrow after work I will do a 200 degree burn without food until the 1/4 bag of KindsFord burs out. Can't wait until Friday to smoke some ribs and sasuage.

Paper backing does not peel off.

Not sure how this product is supposed to work - it comes with a white paper backing that you are supposed to peel off exposing an adhesive that sticks onto the BBQ. It does NOT come off and you end up tearing most of the black fiber into pieces. Nothing is left to insulate.

Complete garbage product in my opinion.....waste of money.

Not impressed with what I got - ZERO adhesion

So I have a few other friends with Traegers, and they absolutely swear by FireBlack for making a gasket for the lid so smoke doesn't escape out/heat retention. While I don't see a little bit of smoke escaping all that big of a deal, I went ahead and ordered a roll to try it out on my Pro34.

As soon as I cut the tape holding the end of the roll to the rest, the paper backing started falling off the gasket with zero influence from me. There is little to no adhesion on the sticky side. What good is a gasket that you can't even get to stick to your finger, let alone a smoker lid that you just spent the past 30 minutes degreasing to ensure you had a perfect surface for something to ahdere to?

I'm returning this product and looking for a different brand.

This gasket material worked. My Weber lid has been leaking, letting in enough extra air that it was difficult to keep the temperature as low as I wanted it. I have been using binder clips to hold the lid down more tightly. I was pretty sure the gasket would improve it even more, but I didn't expect it to work nearly as well as it does. I'm completely pleased. Now smoke leaves the lid only through the vent holes--no more leaks around the rim. There is enough gasket material here for two Weber charcoal kettles. Be sure to get the surface you intend to put it on thoroughly clean first; you want the gasket to stick to the metal, not to old greasy gunk that seems welded to the lid. When you apply the gasket, follow the directions. It's going to go on accurately only if you work slowly. Don't get in a hurry, and be sure to remove the backing only a little at a time. Otherwise, you risk sticking the gasket slightly off-course, and it is extremely difficult to correct mistakes; if you try to pull it back up off the surface, you may not be able to do so, and may tear the gasket material instead.

I picked up a Masterbuilt 20051311 GS30D 2-Door Propane Smoker from a big box store and noticed that there was tons of smoke coming out the doors during the initial seasoning. put some of this on and it works like a champ. Stable temps and smoke only exiting the rear exhaust. There is a bit of a trick to getting the adhesive off correctly, you want to cut thru the backer but not thru the adhesive, cut off a little and try that first. I used a utility knife with a fresh blade and went over it with very little pressure, barely any like you are just trying to give it a little score. After that bend it a bit and try to get it started, once you figure that part out installation is a breeze.

Work really well, put it on my Oklahoma Joe highland horizontal smoker. It fits the rim around the the openings perfectly! I put it on both boxes and the gasket had held up really well.

It cut down the amount of smoke that escapes really well, I highly recommend this product. It's nice that is is black too so it does not stick out too much. One roll fit my smoker perfectly with a little extra if I ever have to replace any of it.

Prep is Key

I used this gasket on the 22" Old Smokey" charcoal grill. This Texas grill is regularly used in the southern states for chicken and burgers because of the 8" clearance from charcoal grate to food. This clearance doesn't allow grease flare-ups to burn the meat. But, it is a cheap grill (basically two stacked metal buckets) that allows smoke to escape the entire circumference of the grill. The gasket completely sealed the grill and now I can maintain consistency in the grill temperature. Installation was easy, peeling the backing off and applying gasket 6 inches at a time. Cleaning the grill for preparation was time 🧹consuming because you NEED a clean contact surface for the gasket to adhere. Total time - 1 hour; 45 minutes cleaning, 15 minutes attaching to grill. 24 hours after allowing the gasket to set, my grill was ready. I have used my grill four or five times over the last month and I am completely satisfied.

I have experience with BBQ gaskets, using self-adhesive style as well as using the more 'old-school' gasket/high temp rtv. This is BY FAR the worst of the lot, primarily because the adhesive paper backing is twice as thick as the adhesive, and almost impossible to separate without taking it all of the adhesive and including about 1/3 of the remaining gasket with it. I now plan on seeing if what I was able to apply will do anything, and most likely will get some braided material with a better adhesive/backing or just using some high temp rtv to adhere it to the grill. This was a FAIL and poorly made.
