Fabulously decorative BUT dimmer switch is almost a necessity

Great looking bulbs! BUT you WILL need to use a dimmer switch in order to fully appreciate the filaments in these bulbs. With a standard on - off switch these will glow very brightly and will provide intense warm white light. They are bright enough that you can't look directly at them. With a dimmer switch you get the ability to lower the intensity to whatever you want and get the wonderfully decorative and very low color temperature light that most people are expecting. There is a very nice range of levels to suite any situation. my guess is that all the product photos were taken with these bulbs on a dimmer switch about 15-20% on. If you put these into an un-dimmed fixture, they are not going to look anything even close to the photos. If you dont have a dimmer switch --- install one !!! You simply can not appreciate these bulbs without one.

These are great looking bulbs to be showcased in clear fixture. I put them in 3 new pendant fixtures over the kitchen island replacing some older style recessed lights. It really changed the entire feeling in the room. This type of bulb is perfect for those fixtures; clear glass cylinders.

I was a little worried before I got these that they were not going to provide adequate high-end brightness (when I want it) based on some comments for similar type "antique" bulbs. I tracked down luminosity measurements for some of these types of bulbs in globe, tube, teardrop, spiral wound, etc. ... and realized this type of desigh gives more light than any of the other designs. That may or may not be a consideration for you if you are looking for a purely decorative bulb. These actually crank out as much illumination in the kitchen (full on) as the old PAR type reflector bulbs in the recessed fixtures did. That is important to me so I can have enought light when I need it for cleaning and what not.

I got the 6 pack because the price per bulb was a little better. I opened 3 of the 6 and all are 100% perfect. I have no reason to expect the other 3 are not perfect also because the way they are packaged but it would probably be a good idea to check. Some of the other bulb styles do not ship well. The filaments either break or the glass shatters in transport. Mine were Amazon Prime 2 day'd to my door which may be a bit gentler than standard ground.

In short, these are bright when you need it but dim beauitfully with a dimmer switch and are at least rugged enough to survive shipping with no damage.

I really hesitated to buy these for my son's bathroom because I was afraid they would give off too much of a yellow/golden light. I am do glad that I risked it. This is my first time using Edison style bulbs and they are absolutely gorgeous. They are larger than I had expected, which is OK because they fit nicely and don't overlap the mirror. As far as the light goes, it is golden but the best way I can describe it is like this: The bulb itself shines a bright, golden color and from there the light shines out and gets lighter and lighter. It doesn't make the whole space golden or distort other colors within the bathroom. I actually prefer it to the stark white bulbs, as it is nice and gentle. I do have a window in the bathroom, so I can't say if effect would be the same in an enclosed space. They all arrived packaged well, in individual padded boxes. All of them were in working condition, and are still going after almost 3 months of everyday use now.

Attractive, bright bulbs--Just what I wanted.

Two things you should know about these bulbs--they are pretty large, and they are bright. Those are positive attributes for my application so I'm happy with these bulbs. The shape is really appealing and they look great in an use where the bulbs are exposed.

I was worried about ordering these fragile items via the mail--especially in sub-zero temps. But the packaging was outstanding--each bulb was packed in a box that was nothing like the flimsy coverings of retail store bulbs, then those 6 boxes were in another cardboard box and that box was inside a typical Amazon box. They all arrived in one piece--I DID let them warm to room temp before using just to be cautious.

These bulbs are not inexpensive--and the quality is apparent in appearance and feel--but, the Amazon price is less than my local DYI store and the 1 year guarantee is a nice bonus. I'm very pleased and I also ordered them in Amber glow for an area where these would be too bright.

Picture misleading - or I was shipped 6 of the wrong item.

All of the pictures show a golden warm tint to the glass, versus bright clear glass. I got bright clear glass bulbs which do not match what I was putting them into. the bulbs are nice looking, but do not have the soft antique look that all of the pictures show.

These bulbs have the look we were going for, however, the packaging is poor at best, and the quality is lacking. 3 bulbs came broken, but I got a quick turn around from the seller and got 3 new bulbs 2-days later.

However, after about 2 weeks, 1 of them burnt out, and 2 bulbs developed a black film around them turning really dark, giving you a burnt look.

So I bought 6, 3 came broken (got new ones), 1 burnt in 2 weeks, and 2 have turned black.

Glowing with Vintage Style

I'm updating my review from 3 stars to 4 stars. The initial batch of bulbs I received were packaged well and arrived timely...however that batch clearly had issues and all bulbs had either burned out or the glass miscolored within weeks to months of purchase. The prompt response and replacement from Rolay was much appreciated. They stood behind their product. I am happy to say the replacement bulbs have glowed without flaw for the past 4 months. The 3 bulb fixture is on dimmer and used often over the kitchen table. Thanks Rolay!

I ordered several packs of these for new vintage-look fixtures thinking they were LED,since that was my search. Of course, that is not an issue with the seller or the product, but the search engine. However, several bulbs arrived with filaments broken. Out of the 16 unbroken bulbs that I installed, 5 blew a filament in the first 3 hours. These were in 4 different fixtures in four different locations. An additional 4 stopped working in the first week. I have changed out three others and they were extremely hot and the glass is blackened -- I don't know if this indicates that they are unsafe, but it definitely changed the color and character of the light as well as the beauty of the bulb.

Defective bulbs replaced, great customer service!

We used 4 out of the 6 pack right away. They looked great right out the gate, but 2 days later one burnt out. After 2 days? Another one has left some black residue inside the glass bulb but is functioning, but it doesn't look good. I'll contact the vendor to request a return for this set of 6.

UPDATE 09/11/15

Excellent customer service from Rolay Lighting. They contacted me soon after I left my review and went out of their way to make things right. They acknowledged receiving a bad batch of bulbs and made their best efforts in removing them from their inventory. It was highly likely I received some bulbs of the bad batch since 3 of the 6 bulbs I used died just days after putting them to use. Rolay sent me another pack of 6 and so far they have been working great.

The bulbs are beautiful in the clear glass light I purchased them for, said she not wanting to end a sentence in a preposition. They are much brighter than a comparable 60W frosted bulb and, because the lamp itself is clear glass, are able to give you a headache quickly. I suggest you buy different wattages and test them for looks. I've also ordered 25W and 40W to see the difference. These were purchased a pack of 6 and the very first bulb I opened was broken. However, the others are in tact. Great idea!

I was very excited to write my review on these lights after my experience with customer service today. I received the 6 pack of lights and was very impressed by the quality of the bulbs. Very beautiful craftsmanship. 1 of the bulbs stopped working after 6 hours of use. I contacted customer care and they responded immediately. I wasn't expecting to hear back so soon. I missed their email back to me. They sent a very courtiers email again after a few days. I sent them the info they needed and once again I received a very prompt reply. They sent a replacement plus another for my troublemail no questions asked. Very rare you get this kind of customer care now days. I highly recommend this product and company. Thanks all!
