Product Description

We engineered the Stab-A-Nut to pick up as effectively as our larger rolling harvesters, but at a more affordable price. This Stab-A-Nut was designed with the "backyard" sweet gum ball tree owners in mind. We recommend the Stab-A-Nut Sweet Gum Ball Harvester for harvesting one to two trees. We understand how frustrating picking up sweet gum balls by hand can be. The Stab-A-Nut harvester allows you to pick up your sweet gum balls without having to bend over. You simply stab the sweet gum ball on the ground and watch the Stab-A-Nut pick up your sweet gum balls. The hand held device allows you to easily empty with a pump handle design.

Features

  • Back and time saver; no bending over
  • Pump handle design allows for easy emptying
  • Picks up 5/8” to 1 ½” diameters
  • Also picks up English walnuts, macadamia nuts, and chestnuts
  • Made in the USA

Lives up to the hype

For medium to small projects, works extremely well. And it's kinda fun, to boot.

Also, I made this short video to put on my Facebook page to entertain my neighbors. I am in no way associated with the company. I'm just an ordinary customer.

This works!

This product is worth about $20 for the materials and assembly, and about $20-30 for the idea and cleverness. It works, but it is overpriced. But hey I bought it, I like it, and I would buy it again. I have an area that has about two sycamore (gumball) trees on an area about 50 ft x 30 ft and in an hour I filled up a trash can with a 13 gal trash bag. I went out again and worked the area over a second time and got about another third of a bag in 15 min. My back feels great tonight because I stabbed the gumballs instead of bending over and picking them up. You can stab once in a pile of them and pick 80% of them up (maybe 8 in a stab and just do it couple more times and you've got a total of 16 gumballs) and quickly release them into the trash and go get more.

Yeah its sorta-kinda fun. Show it to your video game addicted son and send him outside on a sunny day and pay him by the ounce.

Love at first stab!
by Pat B (5 out of 5 stars)

My husband opened the box after a hard day at work, snapped it all together quickly (without needing the instructions) and immediately started testing it out. It was so easy he was laughing the whole time, calling the inventor a genius! He made fast work of our painful barefoot pathway to the lake. The next day he finished our large lakefront yard in about 15-20 minutes. It worked perfectly! We have 8-9 Sweet Gum trees. When the trees are in full release mode, nothing short of a leaf blower will do the trick in our situation The Stab-A-Nut, however, is the PERFECT solution to the inbetween mandatory maintenance, or else accept the "always-wear-shoes" they require. My husband I s having so much fun, I may even try it - if he'll let me play with it too... So simple a child could do it.

The unit is well-made and the reputation of the company guarantees they will stand behind their product. I was given this unit as a gift, because the owners knew I really wanted one. The review was NOT required, but if I chose to, an honest one was requested. We would never do less. This review was honestly & enthusiastically given!

It works, but don't throw away that fan rake
by TonyKend (4 out of 5 stars)

I have one large gum ball tree in the front yard and hate getting these things up. This gadget does work pretty well. I still used my fan rake and shovel. The stab-a-nut was good for picking up small piles of the gum balls and those that were scattered. Worked well in tall grass too. I do wish the head was larger to get more gum balls.

Great back-saving tool. Wish it had a bit larger head. Worthwhile for smaller jobs or daily pickup.

Great back-saving tool. I wish it had a bit larger head. Maybe a few more rows of pins on each of its four sides. The nut release mechanism is smoother than expected and easy to use. Seeing how well it works does make me feel like it's an entry drug for the larger (and much more expensive) models that the company sells. Worthwhile for smaller jobs or daily pickup. Inspires the desire to purchase one of the larger walk behind models for those few spring days after a wind storm empties our four sweet-gum trees.

Works Well for Sparse Sweet Gum Balls
by Amazon Customer (4 out of 5 stars)
April 24, 2019

It works well for stabbing individual sweet gum balls that are dry and relatively sparse. The downside is that it doesn't work so well for sweet gum balls that are wet or partially rotted.

If you only have a few dozen dry sweet gum balls to pick up, this is perfect for the job. If you have hundreds to pick up, or have a mix of dry and wet or rotted sweet gum balls, especially if they are piled up, then this may not work so well, and you may want to consider using the tow-behind version.

Easy to Use...Add sling bucket for faster turn around
by Naomi G. (5 out of 5 stars)
May 22, 2017

I bought from Bag-a-Nut and quickly received item. It was easy to use, my 6yo and 2.5yo were both able to very successfully pick up the gum balls from around their playground area as well as easily release them into garbage bag. I found that it picked up so quickly that I could go faster if I didn't have to keep going back to the garbage bag. I ended up adding the bucket (has a dip at the hip to keep in place) they offer and a shoulder sling. This enabled me to collect about 20-25 gumballs, release into bucket and continue picking up faster without ever having to bend down. It's fun to use and doesn't hurt your hands or back!

Broke within 30 minutes of use
by quietriotou812 (1 out of 5 stars)

Bought for 2 sweet gum trees. Works great but 30 minutes later the plastic release mechanism broke in two. Not sure why it would be made out of cheap plastic. I have only had the device for 2 weeks and only used 30 minutes. Not sure how or if the warranty works or not.

It's nice for small areas. Specifically mulched areas where raking is impractical.

It's nice for small areas. Mulched areas where raking is impractical. Also nice if you're a perfectionist (or need to yard clear for reseeding or something) because you can use it after you go over the yard with a rake to get the onesies and twosies. Use it with a bucket you carry around, dump it into a bag. Don't get it expecting to use it for a whole tree's worth of gumballs, it won't happen.

Works perfectly
by Anthony N (5 out of 5 stars)

My only complaint is there is a plastic part that keeps coming off during use but doesn't seem to affect product itself. Looks like I could glue the part and fix the issue easily since I don't plan to disassemble the tool. It works amazingly well at gathering nuts quickly and effortlessly. I am using it to gather hickory nuts and acorns from my garden paths.
