The best of the collapsible solar lights
by The Purista (5 out of 5 stars)

Collapsible solar lights are a new category of product that I didn't know I needed, until someone gave me one! We to camp, and these lights have quickly replaced nearly all the other lanterns and LED lights that we used to take along. The solar panel is easy to recharge in the sun during the day (try putting it in the dash of your car while driving) and the battery last a long time, so we rarely run out of light. I have two of these and intend to purchase more as gifts.

I like this particular model MUCH better than all the inflatable versions that are sold everywhere. Blowing up the inflatable ones, messing with the little nozzle like on a kids pool toy, and then squeezing all the air out again, is just kind of a pain, and if you get a hole in it, it's kind of worthless. This one folds open and closed in an origami-like way, no rubber nozzle required. Also, the material that this is made of has a pattern of filaments woven into the material, which help it to stand up. The light it casts is softer and has a faint pattern cast by these filaments that is very enjoyable, almost like candlelight. A nice experience for an LED light.
*Note: I only review products that I have purchased and paid for myself.*

I STILL love this Solarpuff
by Princess Eggie (5 out of 5 stars)

I LOVE this Solarpuff! I've had my eye on it since they first came out, but I never bought one. Now, I live in Puerto Rico and use it when the power goes out - which is about once a week.

Update: It's February 2019 and I still use it weekly for extra studying light and keep it in my backpack anytime I leave my room in case of emergency. The electricity is pretty much back to normal, but occasionally, it will still go out. I hang it on my backpack to charge when I go for walks outside and when I make it to the beach - which is not actually that often. I've never had it die on me. I still love this thing! Definitely a great purchase. I bought the warm white version.

Only Worked Once
by Nicole Morissette (1 out of 5 stars)

After one use my lantern stopped working. I've charged it for a week in a sunny window, trying each day to get it to turn back on, but still nothing. I have contacted the company and am hoping that I can get a replacement. The one time it worked very well, so I would be sure you test yours out too to ensure it'll work when you need it.

Much nicer than the other 'inflatable' ones
by BSki (5 out of 5 stars)
April 16, 2019

I camp every few weeks with a lot of other dads and a few have the inflatable lights that also have a USB charging port. I liked them and was going to get one, then I found this. We compared them this past weekend and they all liked this one better.

The USB charging is useless, the battery is so small, and it takes SOO long to charge, it would only be mildly useful in emergency situations.

The inflatable ones can pop. Then you would have to repair the plastic to get it to inflate again. This fordable material doesn't worry about that, there is actually a hole in the material to allow air flow.

The velcro handle makes it soo much easier to attach to the outside of the tent and angle it towards the sun. And there are handles on both sides, though only one with velcro.

This is very bright. Only had to use this on Low to light up an entire 8 man tent.

My only wish was this had a candle mode, nice and low with a little flicker would be nice.

Lasts through rain and beer pong!
by jmbond04 (5 out of 5 stars)

This thing is great! It lasted through a whole lot of fun weekend at the lake, and stays lit for so long!! It's definitely waterproof - it made several trips out in the rainstorm that hit and left a couple of inches of water in our tent, and everyone loved it! It puts out enough light for a twilight game of beer pong, without being so big it gets in the way. It doesn't require an outlet to charge when all the outlets are being used by phone chargers. Now we've used it when doing home renovations, it's small enough to fit behind a bathroom sink while you install it, it's bright enough to light a small room at night. There are two brightness settings, and a third flashing option. The low setting is still bright enough to wake up anyone in the room with you, though, so if you're looking to camp and not wake up a friend to read, maybe get the other light from this company that glows red.

You need this terrific product
by B. Rogers (5 out of 5 stars)

This is a fantastic product, and everyone needs one! You can charge it in the sun or under a lamp; it sheds a bright white light. I bought it to use in developing countries where you want light inside your mosquito net or the ability to go to bed and then turn out the light (when the room light switch is on the opposite wall), but I really wanted it when I stayed at a friend's house here in the US and had the same issue of having to turn out the light before I could get into bed. It packs flat so you can fit it in any suitcase or carry-on.

Bright for something so small.

This light was much smaller that I thought. Love the compactability and the solar capability tho. Easy to store and easy to use. Light lasts a long time. Great for camping trips.

Awesome product! We love it!

This thing is so cool! Got it for my husband as a gift. We've been looking for a lantern for camping forever now. But so many of them are bulky, don't last long on batteries, and are expensive. The SolarPuff, however, is such a fun design, so easy to pack and travel with, lasts long when it's charged, and supports a great cause! Highly recommend.

I love this product!

I love these solar lanterns. I got my first lanterns when I contributed to their Kickstarter campaign. I bought these lanterns as gifts. I have used the lanterns when the power has gone out and they were wonderful. Also my grand kids use them in the blanket forts they make. I love this company. They distribute these lanterns in communities of need. Wonderful product.

Light, durable, easy, no puncture risk.
by Dani T. (5 out of 5 stars)
August 27, 2018

I ordered three kinds of solar-powered camping lamp: the Solight Design one I'm reviewing here, the MPOWERED Luci Lux, and the MPOWERED Luci Pro. This is by far my favorite for the following reasons: It is the lightest of the three; it comes with a durable velcro hanging strap, vs. a slightly stretchy plastic strap that the MPOWERED lamps come with; the lamp itself is made of a more rigid, durable fabric; and because of this rigidity and a hole designed into the side, you just need to pull on it to "inflate" it (i.e., no blowing on a mouthpiece that will get dirty camping; no risk of puncturing it/loss of functionality due to a puncture).
