This is a solid product with lots to offer. The only thing missing is an SD card slot since 16GB is not enough in my opinion. The good news is, there is an SD slot inside if you are adventurous enough to it take it apart. I have attached pictures of the steps. Remember to format the card correctly before installing.

Now Useless

This product worked flawlessly until a recent update severely limited its abilities, in a deliberate step to force customers to subscribe to their cloud service. In spite of the built in storage, all captured video is now erased after 24 hours. Unless, of course, you pay for the cloud. What a rip-off!

LoveD Zmodo - now we're looking for new cameras!

When we picked the Zmodo brand because it offered a lot of flexibility with the operation of the devices. You weren't locked into a contract for cloud storage, but they do offer some for free which is really nice. We loved it when you could use memory cards, link your own storage devices, or you have the OPTION to purchase cloud storage. Their cloud storage has added benefits - like going back in time, but you aren't locked into it. The camera will operate very limitedly without purchasing any cloud storage.

The camera works well on its own, but it often doesn't catch movement or has a trigger with no movement. So far we have found them completely useless. They catch a lot of things, but nothing that it should be catching - like people or pets. We often get a lot of nothing in the alert feed. We've also had some real glitches with the alert feed sometimes showing alerts and sometimes not and then later those alerts will reappear. The pivot, & all the other zmodo devices we own, were pretty easy to set up out of the box. I am experienced with wifi setups, but I had absolutely no issues getting it connected. It was THE easiest camera I've ever connected - and I've set up a fair few. So I give it one star for that.

The pivot will check the temp as well as the humidity levels in the house. We got it specifically to monitor for leaks or failed climate control while away from our pets. It also links to the door sensors & will turn to face them if an alert goes off. It has night / day vision so it is supposed to have no issues with lighting. It is actually really good with night vision, but it gets hung up and will very loudly switch back and forth to night/day vision until you unplug it and restart it.

There is another issue with the pivot camera. We think it's something firmware. The pivot will say it is "offline" in the app, but the device seems to be working if you go check on it. This seems to happen to all other Zmodo cameras. The app will not allow you to view the feed as it says "device offline". The only way we have found to restart it is to unplug it from the power outlet & then plug it in again. If you buy this camera make sure you buy a smart plug (they are pretty cheap here on amazon) in order to manually reset it. I generally recommend a smart plug on every wifi camera because it gives you control IF any such an issue does occur with your equipment - it's an easy remote reset. I think it is certainly a program issue.

We would not buy more Zmodo devices. The devices started off as impressive, but with the new "force you into cloud service" stance and all the other continual glitches we are no longer happy with our purchases. We purchased 6 of the Zmodo brand in October of 2017 - it hasn't even been a year and we are looking for new cameras. So, did love them and they were very promising, but now we're not impressed with all the issues and lack of self storage options.

Terrible Customer Service, Cameras Hit or Miss

Update: After having very good success with Zmodo products, I bought three additional ones. Catastrophe. The firmware would not download to the cameras, and Zmodo customer service was some of the worst I have experienced. Customer service was not open during the hours advertised, nobody answered the chat for hours the first time I tried, the second time the customer service individual was rude and said they would respond in 3-5 days. We are now more than one week later. Don't buy!!!!

Very good camera. We were looking for a rotating wireless camera, but wanted it only to record locally (on an SD card). This fit the bill: It swivels and covers a broad area and it has worked perfectly when one of us is traveling (mostly overseas) and wants to check in on things at home. Ordered three initially, then ordered another because it worked so well. Only issue is that the microphone does not work well, so when using the app, the sound comes in choppy (both over the app and on the speakers no the other end). Wasn't a huge deal for us since we typically use FaceTime or Messenger to communicate, but would be nice for Zmodo to fix that -- it's the reason for only 4 stars instead of five.

Unreliable

The quality did not really live up to 1080p and the frame rate was nowhere near 25 FPS. I would say it runs around 13 to 15 FPS. Connecting it to the WiFi was an act of luck. I spent over an hour trying the different methods provided to connect it to my WiFi. With the app you can set the cam up as away, home and a few others. When going from away to home I had it turning off the camera. When I would leave the house I set it to away. Every time you set it to away from home it makes the camera do a 350 then makes the device go offline. Then my video feed and sensors connected no longer work. There is no remote restart and only a unplug from the wall and plug back in brings it back online. This was reproducible almost every time I did the transition between profiles.
* Resolution was bad
* Frame rate is not accurate by any stretch
* Setup is awful and not very intuitive
* Switching between profiles brings the camera offline negating your entire security system

Sometimes you can buy and get away cheap with similar quality or functionality of expensive. Not with this product...

Small, Compact, Durable, and literally does things I'd never expect!!

I purchased this after seeing a Cyber Monday special .. I figured, for the features and the cyber Monday pricing, why not give it a try.

As it turns out, this camera also records humidity and temperature data, and keeps a log of it on the calendar .. That's something I've never had before or cared about, but it's pretty cool having your own personalized historical weather data ..

So, since it was Christmas time when I bought this, I decided to put it outside my front porch .. just in case someone steals packages, I would have video of them in the cloud .. NOTE: THIS IS NOT AN OUTDOOR CAMERA!!!

On that note, it's worth mentioning what happened while it was outside for so many days .. The camera got rained on several times and kept ticking .. the lens got fogged up a couple of times, but cleared up a day later .. then the lens got a little water in it .. then a day later, it rained heavily .. and the camera quit working altogether.. well, DOH!! I should've known to bring it out of the weather sooner ..

A day after bringing it in the house, and draining the water out of it .. I went through the setup again, and it's like brand new. How amazing is that .. it's like an undeserved second chance with this thing.

So now, it sits in my living room and has a pretty sweet angle going all the way from my front door, back door, hallway, kitchen entry way, and entire living room, because of it's 360 degree rotation ability. I haven't yet tried out the door sensors, but I'm going to set those up soon.

Setup is too simple .. if you've ever set up Amazon Echo, then this will be easy .. same method. You download the iPhone/Android app, connect to the camera's Ad-Hoc WiFi network, run the software, then give the app your WiFi network name & password, then it connects to your WiFi .. after that, you customize it with the App. There's no port-forwarding necessary in your router, as this thing appears to use Zmodo's cloud somehow ..

I really would like an outdoor version of this .. especially with the 360 degree turn, and the weather data. It really makes this thing awesome.

There's only ONE thing I would change about this device .. So it has Bluetooth connectivity .. When I noticed it had Bluetooth, my first thought was great!! I will connect a Bluetooth speaker so I can remotely talk through it and it my voice will be MUCH louder than the little speaker in the Camera .. Well, that's not how the Bluetooth on this device works .. The only Bluetooth option with this device is to be used as a Bluetooth speaker ... Seriously?? Who wants to stream their music to the tiny speaker in this thing?? I mean, it's a nice thought I guess .. but MOST techies like me would've rather had the option to augment the device with a Bluetooth speaker.

Overall, this camera exceeds my expectations .. putting it on a Cyber Monday special was a good idea marketing-wise, because otherwise I may have never given it a try.

Application is not very intuitive and difficult to use. What is the difference between Room, Device and Function? It leaves you constantly guessing. I am a software developer too. Also the sensor for the door just stops working when it feels like. I have to constantly remove it and add it back to the sensor list. It will work for a few hours and stop. At this point, I am thinking I have to completely un-install and re-install. If Amazon was a physical store, I would drive and return this product. Since it is not, I am going to try to make it work one last time. I bought this product because of the sensors, but it does not work.

Sensors for door completely stopped working. Support team is useless. Give you instructions that don't work and make you repeat what is wrong again. There is a reason they are not sold at big box store. Too many people would return. Going to shop at best buy for something better that works.

I wouldn't buy one again, here's my review:

SUMMARY: Now it's a flaky semi-functioning unit. Plus with all the quirks, we ended up NOT using it for surveillance anymore, and rather as a door sensor to let us know when the kids got home or left the house. High hopes significantly dashed. I'm tech saavy and thought it would be pretty sweet after a bunch of searching; one major issue and many many design flaws.

MAIN ISSUE: 2 months into it it has seemed to become corrupt, it rotates completely at times without triggers (we have even turned off all microphone and sensor services related to movement). Yes, I've troubleshot the heck out of it as an IT professional. Only 30 days replace, 2 months support, both of which are expired right in time for failure.

DESIGN FLAWS / ISSUES:
- The unit is BLACK the power supply w/ integrated micro-usb cable is WHITE (and only ~3' long)
- The IR sensor has a shutter that you can AUDIBLY hear open and close, and even at the lowest sensitivity will flip on and off in evening light and definitely while watching movies. Plus it's a red light instead of invisible IR diodes.
- Video is fine in "LR" (low resolution) but in HD it is way too slow, especially to handle accurate panning. But at the same time the ability to zoom in HD is pretty good.
- Rotates very slowly (and somewhat loudly) so you have to aim it at a door if you want a pic of it when it opens.
- The 360* motion detection works, but it constantly rotates and you have to have it in "home" mode in order to stop that, and even then it ends up with lots of false positives. Also, you can only set a specific motion detection zone when its pointed in a certain direction it can see in video.
- Temperature is semi-useless since it picks up its own heat, nice stable 72* the whole time. Humitidy seems to work, gimmick really. No integration with other temperature or comfort devices (such as the marketing illudes to an air quality... which is just temp and humidity, blah).
- Software is really odd and buggy and takes some serious getting used to, such as;
-- Automatically defaults to LR (low resolution) and is not configurable to record in, or view in HD. Makes a quick peek not so quick.
-- Automatically defaults to NOT being able to hear via microphone. Just another click to do if you're quickly tuning in to see/hear.
-- The intercom feature from phone to device is literally push to talk, it is not duplex talk/listen same time. Makes it hard to do and very walkie talkie.
-- Each phone notification is a separate item on the lock screen to clear (iOS), lots of swiping.
-- No audio on recorded events (as I recall).
-- Videos are not instantly watchable, you have to wait for them to be uploaded to the cloud (1-3min). And while its taking the event, you can't log into it real-time.
-- More issues and bugs I can't even remember. Meh.

I purchase this item in June 2017, it is now November 2017 and my camera is completely useless now. It was great while it did work. The door sensor notification was what I really needed and liked. The perks when it was working: notification time was quick, cam quality very clear, speaker was loud enough, it was discreet and looks like a speaker more than a camera. But now after 6 months of use the door sensor and notifications all together stopped working. It's pretty useless now that those functions don't work, defeats the purpose of extra security. I've contacted the company via live chat and all they keep telling me is to reboot the system. I've rebooted the cam so many times I can't even count and still not working. It's such a bummer that I can't even get a resolution on this issue and lack of customer support from the company. Such a waste of money.

Great Home Monitoring Device

First, I was impressed with ease of set up. I really like the fact that nothing has to be drilled or wired for it to work. We have it sitting on a stand in our dining room and you can barely notice it's even there. We used sensors on our 3 doors and when they are opened or closed, the Pivot turns to the door and records 30 seconds of high quality video of it. It's pretty quick to detect motion in the room was well. I am equally impressed with the night vision. The video is very clear and not fuzzy or dark like other cameras. The App was quick and easy to download on my phone and I love being able to control the camera with it. You can set it up to receive notifications of movement or turn the notifications off. I love the 2 way microphone too. I have a dog at home and I am able to see him during the day, as well as talk to him. I also like how it reads the room temperature and humidity, too. So far, this has been a great purchase for us. We also bought the Zmodo Pan and tilt for another area of our home. (We have a very large home). I highly recommend this security camera to anyone who is looking for a wireless security camera.
