Try troubleshooting your ThinCharge with the following steps: Check that your ThinCharge charging tip is properly and securely aligned into your iPhone charging port (on the bottom of your phone). Make sure your ThinCharge is fully charged before using. See directions below. With your iPhone on (with the locked screen or home screen lit), use your volume buttons on the side of the unit to toggle the volume up and down. Press the (+) / increase volume button with one single long push so that the volume increases to max and keep holding that (+) button until your battery lights up as green with the lightning symbol to indicate charging. If this does not work the first time, try lower the volume with the (-) button just a little bit and then immediately press the (+) increase volume button again till the max until the battery lights up as green and the lightning symbol shows indicating charging. To turn off the ThinCharge charging, use the volume buttons again to toggle down on volume and then back up again immediately and the charging symbol should turn off. How to charge your ThinCharge: Remove the top bar of the ThinCharge (you can use your nail to pry that part off the ThinCharge body) Slide your iPhone 6/6s into the ThinCharge case Place the top bar on securely back on From the top bar, lift the ThinCharge Charging Port Protector (using your nail), plug in your charging cable and charge as you would do normally Your ThinCharge will charge first, then your phone.

Great Charging Case with Few Quirks I'm Willing to Get Over
by liyali (4 out of 5 stars)
September 2, 2016

There are some issues, but I really do like this case. I've had it for over a month now.

I love the size and feel of the case. It's not bulky or slippery; it's slim and matte (at least the black is). I don't mind that the charge port is at the top. I do love that it uses the same charging cable as my iPhone instead of a mini USB or something else.

I'd say the case charges the phone 90% if you're not using it at all while it's charging, and a whole lot less (even 60%) if you're using it. To get the most juice, I put my phone on airplane mode if I can afford to.

The top comes off way too easily. I already lost my original, but lucky for me ChargeTech already supplied me with a free top. I really have to be careful now, though! I'm starting to have trouble with the charging port in the case. The inside layer of the case is slightly peeling off and I've noticed it's sometimes hard to connect it.

If anything did happen to my case, I would most likely (90%) buy another one. But directly from ChargeTech instead of Amazon because they have good deals sometimes. For example, I bought my case for $60 but my friend (who decided to get it after he saw mine) got it from ChargeTech for $45 when they had a sale. Slightly bummed about that--do I get a finders fee? Lol.

ChargeTech has great customer service!

I love this case - one fixed issue but one small issue remains.

I bought the white thincharge battery case for my wife's iphone 6s a while back and initially had some issues with it, which caused me to return the product. The biggest issue being the top piece constantly falling off. I contacted costumer service at that time and they made the statement that there was no fix for the issue but would send me a new case instead. I chose to return the product for the refund

Couple months later, I get contacted by their customer service again regarding the issue I had with the case. They offered to send me a new case, free of charge, to try one last time. They get big points for customer service! I do like it when companies get behind their product and want their consumers to be satisfied with it. I agreed, because free case right?! But, I was very skeptical that I would change my thoughts about the product. But, playing with it on my wife's phone for a while now, here is my updated review for you to consider before buying it:

Cons: The top piece has yet to fall off and that is already a huge plus. I still think they could have made it to click on better. There is still a tiny gap on one side of the case and I fear that the same thing is going to happen; only time will tell. The only other issue I have with the case is the latch for the lightening port. It's a lot more cumbersome to open than needs be. I'm finding myself attempting to open it multiple times, which isn't a deal breaker for me, but something you may want to consider.

Pros: Besides the top piece falling off and the port latch, I love this case! Dare I say, it may be the best battery case out there for the iphone 6s. It doesn't have the most juice but it has enough to give my wife the extra battery when needed. What you gain for that far outweighs the small battery. The case itself is extremely thin. If it wasn't for the extra weight, I would forget that it is a battery case. The buttons on the case is very clicky, which is important to me. The ports are all easily accessible, you don't need a dongle to plug in your headphones, which is a huge plus. Lastly, one thing I love about the case is the lightening port being on top to charge the case and the phone. I thought it was weird at first but then being able to use the phone while charging without the cord being in the way was quite a pleasant experience!

On a side note, thincharge sent me a black case, instead of the white one, the second time round. I didn't think that color would make a difference but in this case, it definitely does. The white one was slippery and, of course, had the top piece falling off issue. The black one is a lot more rubbery in texture and a lot more comfortable to hold. So if you are going to buy this case, I would recommend choosing the black over the white color.

Overall, this is an amazing case and I would recommend it to anyone, especially since I know you will be taken care of by customer service if you experience a similar issue as me. I'm hopeful that the top piece will stay on for this new case. I'll update you if it doesn't.
***Update***

My wife has been using this case for the past several months. Although I truly appreciate thin have for replacing the case for free, the initial issue with the case remains. The top piece of the case but doesn't stay on. If they just fix that issue, this would be a perfect battery the case. But, without the top piece, it renders the case almost useless. My wife lost the top piece and can no longer use the case.

Let Down

At first I loved this case, during the day while I was at school I would use my phone and go down to 20%, so I would turn on the thincharge before I went to work and by the time I got off my phone would be at 100%. But now about 3 days into having the case, the case stopped charging. I will plug it in and it will continue to blink red three times(meaning it is >1%). I tried just charging the case to no prevail. I did not beat on this case, I never got any water into the charging port. For this reason alone I advise you not to get this case, if you are anything like me and normally don't spend more than $10 on a case, spending $60 on a case just for it to stop working a couple days after receiving it is frustrating.

Must Buy for Road Warriors!!!

This product is exactly what it says...Thin Charge. Compare to your typical "rugged" case, it's about the same size as it relates to thickness while the phone is attached or inside the case. Of course, it is significantly heavier, so don't expect to be a delight to hold if you carry your phone in your pocket. The case feels good in the hand and the top mounted charging port is a plus if you're like me and you use your phone before bed. The actual charge function works as I can get about 1 and a quarter charges or so from <10% battery levels.

The one highlight that I'll speak of, which doesn't echo the experiences of others is the customer service. I ran into an issue where the case broke where the top connected to the actual battery, causing the top to disconnect frequently. This, in essence, rendered the case unusable. I reached out to customer service on a Sunday evening at 11:22pm and received a NON AUTOMATED response in 7 minutes. I described my issue in detail with the representative and had resolve in under 90 minutes!

I've dealt with one of the more well known "charge case" companies on a similar issue and was basically told to pound sand when I ran into a similar issue. I highly recommend this case for anyone that may be looking for a battery case that won't add to much bulk but is still functional.

Great expectations; underwhelmed
by Daniel Lo (2 out of 5 stars)

After accidentally breaking my previous thin battery case, I decided to give this battery case a try since I received a gift card for Christmas.

I was a bit hesitant on the charging location and reviews from others about the volume up button being the charge button.

I decided to give the extra thin case a chance anyways.

It's currently been just over a month of use now, and I must say...I am more disappointed than impressed.

Yes, it is most definitely the thinnest battery case by far and the build quality does feel nice in your hands.

However, after a few weeks of use, the poor designs quickly began to show.

I thought I would be fine with the volume up key but I found that it quite annoying since most of the time I need a charge, would be when I was at the gym and on headphones.

Not only did it end up blasting my ears, but sometimes the freakin button doesn't work, and you have to try it again.

Recently, the top removable section has been coming off constantly (they do include an extra, but I have been out of town) but it is very annoying.

Also, the charging port has been having some connection issues when the port which was very frustrating to find out at 6am a few times, and my phone is almost dead.

I will say, that I did enjoy the charging port being up top, however, I still find more negative than positive with the design.

I was hoping for great things, but unfortunately for me; this one was a bust.

Update: 2/21/17

Woke up this morning to find out my case no longer takes a charge.

FAIL

--Why I Returned My ThinCharge--
by Joe (2 out of 5 stars)

This battery case is a perfect example of how little inconveniences add up to an unpleasant experience. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the thinness of the case and how you charge with lightning instead of micro-USB, but in my mind, the pros don't outweigh the cons. From my experience, I have laid out the pros and cons of this case that will hopefully influence your decision before buying.

Cons:
1) --MOST IMPORTANT-- The main reason I returned this case is because the audio jack cutout is too small. If you are a person who uses headphones frequently, DO NOT buy this case because literally you can't (or just barely depending on the headphones) fit the audio cord in the phone. I found myself having to use high amounts of force to get my Bose headphones in halfway, and my Beats (with the right angle cord) will not fit in whatsoever. In order to use the headphone jack, you would have to take off the case, which nullifies the purpose of the case: to protect your phone at all times.
2) Only around 300 full charges then the battery starts to decline to 80%, around 500 charges the battery declines to 75% of the initial capacity, and only keeps declining. Information taken from the ThinCharge manual provided in the box.
3) Charges too slow
4) Inconvenient cover slip on the top of the phone
5) Uses the volume up button to turn charging on and off. On paper, it sounds exciting, but in reality, it's just a nuisance having to turn the volume up all the way and down all the way.

Pros:
1) Thinness
2) Charges with lighting so you don't need extra micro-USB cables around
3) Feel
4) Relatively large amount of juice

In conclusion, I will support ThinCharge in the future as I think this company has a lot of potential, as producing a battery case that thin isn't an easy task. But, I don't support ThinCharge releasing a prototype, a half-thought-out product. Because most of the cons are small, fixing them will be easy, therefore putting the ThinCharge 2 case at the top of the charts.

ThinCharge, hopefully you read this and really take in to account how big these problems are so you can fix them right away.

Thanks

Great battery case!
by astrowxtrainguy (5 out of 5 stars)
March 10, 2017

I've had this case for a few months and so far it has worked out great for me. The case is hardly any thicker than my previous iPhone case which didn't have a battery, and actually feels nicer in the hand to hold. Since the back is completely flat I am also able to use my stick on wallet pouch on the back of it which was a requirement for me. I also love that is has pass through charging using a lightning port. The extra battery capacity is great when on the go for a long time. A couple minor downsides are that the little protective plug over the charging port can be hard to remove unless you have longer finger nails. Additionally, I can't charge the case and my phone at the same time if I use a USB port on my computer. There is no problem charging the phone and case at the same time using the wall chargers I have used, but the USB port on my laptop apparently doesn't put out enough current to charge both and the phone at the same time and will just keep switching really fast from charging to not charging. I usually use a wall adapter anyway to charge, so this isn't a big deal. Overall I am very happy with the case in terms of look, feel and being able to extend my phones battery life when I need it.

Second time is the charm

The first case I received was slightly warped and didn't fit quite correctly. I posted a bad review and returned immediately. A customer service representative reached out to me and assured me that this was an extremely rare occurrence and convinced me to give them another try. I did, and now I have a great battery case that I am very happy with. It is well made and barely bigger than the thin rubber cases that you would put on your phone (a big difference from the bulky Apple battery case). Since it uses the lightening connector, there is also not a need to get another charger or have more cords to carry around. I highly recommend this case.

Absent customer service and a disappointed customer and shamed for the referrals I've given to frien
by MeatY (1 out of 5 stars)
March 16, 2017

I had great hopes as I was an early follower of their fundraising efforts. However, their support is near non-existent. So far I have two of these that stay on the iPhone 6 24/7, and the following has occurred:
1) Power button on one just break off and just fail right out, so I have a to attempt to put my nail through the whole to lock my phone or to turn it on/off
2) The charging port seems to be very very delicate and needs great care, one of these now has to be sitting just right to get it to charge and if for some reason the table or cord collection we all have gets moved I'll wake up to a dead phone - it reminds me of the days of holding the tin foil and coat hanger on the TV to get that just right picture.
3) The top piece of plastic that serves to keep the phone secure, will pop off with little effort.

I have attempted to contact their support and customer service three times so far to get help under warranty - but I have yet to receive a response.

At this point, I will not purchase another ThinCharge or recommend one to any of my clients or friends again. I think out of the 4 I recommended, and they got it - its crapping out on the power users and FAST.

STAY AWAY at this point - go with the cheaper Chinese one that is more likely to explode - but it will get replaced or a response that you will need to google translate. Either are better than what I am going through now. I found their RMA section today, and I am scared just to UPS it to them, if they will not answer e-mails, what do you think they will do if they have to sign and open a box.....

Not quite perfect, but the best I've found for my needs
by Dallas Buyer (4 out of 5 stars)
December 29, 2016

This is a day one review and includes my initial impressions and a potential fix if you're having charging issues.

Appearance:

Immediate impressions is that it is indeed thinner than any other battery case I've seen. However, it does give the appearance of being thicker than it is since the edges and back aren't really rounded except for the corners, sort of like the iPhone 5 shape.

The attractiveness of the glossy finish of the white version is going to be a matter of personal taste. Personally, I think it looks a bit toyish and I am considering altering the appearance to make it matte. Again, you might love the way it looks.

I really like how they integrated the charger controls into the volume button. It works very well and looks a lot better than having additional dedicated buttons and LEDs.

Fit:

Fit was perfect on an iPhone 6S. The top locked securely and was actually a pain to remove. This actually inspired confidence that it would not break or fly off like I've seen in other reviews here. They apparently have read those reviews and have started including an extra top piece for free in the packaging. The headphone hole is small. Basically it was made with Earpods and headsets with similarly sized 3.5 mm plugs. My guess is that there isn't anything important around the hole and I may make it a tiny bit wider to accommodate my aux cables and Bose headset.

Weight:

Seriously, it doesn't feel like a battery case. I'd describe it as having the weight of a heavy duty case like an Otterbox.

Charging:

Initially it would not charge but it was obviously doing something. My battery was 66% when I put on the case. Twenty minutes later it was still 66%. This is without using it. I then tried the pass-through charging for thirty minutes, some using and some idle, and it was still on 66%. It did this while showing the charging icon. So, it was apparently getting enough power to maintain but not enough to charge. The case states to go to a website and upgrade the firmware for the phone if you have charging issues. Don't do that. They actually state in their FAQ's that it is a misprint. What finally fixed it was taking the phone out and reseating it in addition to resetting my phone by holding the home and power buttons.

After doing that, it charges with both the case and pass-through. Charging isn't super fast but it doesn't need to be. Your phone will not go dead and will get a full charge. One thing annoying about it is that it will not charge with my Apple certified 3 amp rapid charger. As in not at all. Neither the battery or phone will charge with the rapid charger while the phone is in this case.

Protection:

This is another area where they have seen the reviews and have made appropriate changes. On the unit I purchased there is a small lip around the screen that will help protect the glass. It also was able to accommodate my Peel glass screen protector. This is the tempered glass one that goes from edge to edge and curves at the edges. Meaning that if it fits over this screen protector, you're going to able to use almost any other one with the case. The plastic feels sturdy. I'm not going to drop my $60 case on some concrete or anything so I can write a better review, but I'm confident it will protect the phone. Again, it took some oomph to separate the top from the rest of the case when I wanted to. Either I got lucky with the fit or this is something else the company has received feedback on and addressed.

Summary

First impressions after a little over 24 hours are good. There are faster charging cases out there. There are cases with more mAh to charge your phone more times on a single charge out there. What this gives you is a battery case that above all else will charge your phone while being lightweight, thin, and better looking than most batter cases.

To me, this is a five star product that loses a star for not working out of the box and the fact that most aftermarket headsets will not fit it. Not being able to use my rapid charger wasn't factored into the star rating since that won't impact most people, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

I'll update this as warranted.
