and it's pretty damn good to type on

I'm writing my review on the Turret I purchased last week, and it's pretty damn good to type on. I'm not sure what some people are expecting, but I have used 7 different keyboards for my HTPC's over the past 8 years. I have attempted gaming with these keyboards with spectacularly poor results. The Razer Turret allows me to have a damn fun experience gaming off my couch without a gamepad. Is it as good as sitting at a desk? No! Get a desk and put it in your living room if that's what you want. I didn't want a desk, I wanted to be able to use a mouse and keyboard to wirelessly play my steam collection from my couch. This is the best and only option, unless you want giant setups with wires. The mouse stays put, the keys are responsive and the experience is fun (as long as you understand the niche this is filling).

For the next version I would request back-lighting and longer range (the range sucks, so get that USB extender as close to you as possible). My Logitech k400r has much better range, but once again try gaming on a track pad.

On a final note, I know some people are bitching about a lack of page up or page down on the keyboard, but you have a scroll mouse!!!! Really? The only reason for a page up or down button, in my view, is if you're using a track pad. This keyboard & mouse setup makes netflix, vudu etc. so much easier to view because of the scroll mouse. I once had an IOgear keyboard with trackball and a scroll wheel all in one, I went through 3 because the build quality was awful. Great idea though.

Works well, best and only option in it's category, would be excellent if it were a tad bigger.

So after about a year of ownership I figured I'd share my thoughts on this since it's currently sitting at an unimpressive 3.1 stars.

Actually, I'm writing this review WITH the Turret.

So, still using it after a year, that's a good sign right? Right.

It IS a good product IF you have the correct use case for it. For me, it's a HTPC with some light gaming. And for that it's perfect. It's STILL the only product in it's category (wireless and rechargeable keyboard/mouse/mouse-pad combo). Is it perfect for everything though? Absolutely not. If this was my one and only way of using my main computer I'd probably throw it through the window (probably not, I'd get used to it, but it wouldn't be great). So, what's WRONG with it? Mainly, the mouse is too small, I saw this in other reviews and thought "eh, it'll be fine", and for general use and light gaming it IS, but it takes some getting used to and after an hour or two can get uncomfortable. Secondly, the keyboard, it's not the best for typing, going from mechanical to this is almost painful, but it gets the job done adequately if not admirably with some cramped keys (arrows, top row). Thirdly, the mouse area is just a tad too small, it's perfectly usable, but you're always aware you're working with a small area.

Now that the bad is out of the way, what's the good? I DID give it a 4/5 after all. Well, as mentioned before it is THE perfect and ONLY option for it's use-case. It's built very well, and has a very well thought out design (slightly magnetic mouse, docking, one usb dongle, bluetooth or wireless, rechargeable, padded underside). Battery life is plenty, I've never had it give out while in use. The dock is top notch. And, most importantly, it does what I bought it to do and does it about as well as I expected.

What could be better? A slightly larger variant, give us a larger mousepad, a bigger mouse, and a battery that can sustain some LED back lighting on the keyboard. Really, it just boils down to they made it a tad smaller than they probably should have (though I understand why they aimed for a compact design), make a MKII that's bigger with some more features and it's perfect. Otherwise... not much. It works well and is a well designed with some notable design compromises, if those are compromises you can work with, great, if not, consider something else.

Not worth your money and time. Don't bother.

I've used plenty of Razer productrs before. Some I like, and some I don't. This unfortunately falls in the don't category.

Let's start by going with the pro's.
1. It's wireless and offers Bluetooth options as well. It's nice nice having to have wires strung across the floor everywhere.
2. The design is nice and I love the charging dock. It's easy to put away and can keep the aesthetic of your room there without making it look tacky.

There really wasn't much on the pro side, and even one of the pros comes with a con. I'll list the con's now.
1. The wireless for 2.4ghz is meh, AT BEST. I've had nothing but issues with the mouse jumping all over the place. Couldn't test the Bluetooth since I don't have the ability too on my PC. The interference on Wireless was atrocious even when I don't have many wireless devices that will interrupt it.
2. I also had a lot of issues with the keyboard disconnecting and having to turn it back on every few seconds.
3. It's too small. While it does fit on your lap nicely, it's just too small. For me the keys were too close together, making it harder to type on. Also the mouse doesn't fit in my hand comfortably. They could also have done with a bigger mouse pad as well. While I like it doesn't slide off, it's hard to get across your screen, especially in 4K in one swoop. Constantly having to lift it off and recenter just to close the window is rather annoying.
4. It just doesn't feel like a solid razer product. I was wanting something that was gaming oriented but still had some of the couch gaming features too. It just unfortunately doesn't live up to expectations. The quality for the price felt under par as well. The mouse pad folds under the keyboard when docked, but it doesn't really lock into place when you want to use it, which makes it easy for it to fold back down when you are using it.

All in all, I just can't recommend this product. The wireless is poor, it's far to small to be effective in gaming. Trying to play Destiny 2 beta was awful between the lag and making sure I hit the correct keys. Skip this one and look for something better.

Bad wireless isn't worth the frustration

I can't recommend this product to anyone. For gaming since your performance will suffer dramatically due to the mouse's uneven flow even with a clear connection. For casual browser usage there are better products with a touchpad built in.

Pros
* Clean design and nice stand
* Keyboard works well

Cons
* Mouse doesn't flow correctly, I assume due to bad connection even though I'm sitting 2 feet away (bluetooth + 2.4ghz)
* 2.4ghz appears to require a clear line of sight to function, anything gets in the way and the connection drops
* Charging light indicators are confusing, sometimes it's red, sometimes green even though it's fully charged

Excellent wireless M/K combo for casual gaming
by Ali Mohd (5 out of 5 stars)
March 18, 2017

I am mostly a casual gamer who play RPGs such as The Witcher series, Elder Scrolls series and also shooters like Metro 2033/ Last Light, Half Life 2, Crysis, Doom series & Fallout series ... etc. So almost 90% of my games are single player only, so I play nothing competitive, and I find the Razer Turret to be an excellent product for my needs.

The overall quality of the product feels good and the keyboard keys are soft and responsive. The package also includes an extender if you want to set far away from your PC.

The only thing I don't like is the mouse pad is a bit small, and the mouse might not be very comforting for people with big hands.

But overall Razer Turret is a respectable product.

Score 9.5/10

Great when it is working. Lasted for less than a year
by Frederick (1 out of 5 stars)

I used this for my HTPC (the PC connected to my TV in the living room). It was working fine, pretty much the only game in town that offers true mousing experience on a couch without a table. My girlfriend likes it a lot as she hates touchpad (was and now using Logitech K400+). It ran out of battery every now and then but around 6 months ago I discovered that it lasted less than 3 days and at worst less than a day (the mouse). Hence I keep charging it and switched back to the K400+. Got it out again about a week ago and charged it for 10 hours. The mouse will work for 10 seconds and stop working. Toggling it on/off will make it work for a short period of time but decreasing until the point it doesn't turn on anymore. Longevity is serious an issue with this product. Will not recommend.

Pretty good if you aren't expecting perfection
by Michael C. (4 out of 5 stars)

I bought this so I could use a keyboard & mouse while I sometimes have to sit 5-7 feet away from my computer monitor during the day. If you're looking for something to play FPS or intense twitch shooter like games, this probably isn't for you.

The box it comes in is usual razer quality and presentation - it's like Apple, but with black & green instead of white. Very nice packaging and presentation. The products themselves are high quality, the keyboard in particular. The mouse...not so much. It really is a small, travel size mouse, like maybe a little bigger than a Logitech m185 wireless mini mouse. It does have the standard ribbed scroll wheel, which feel nice, and the clicks are good - not too loud or any double clicks or anything. The main problem with it, is it's so small. It really is not much larger than a travel sized mouse. I see why they had to do it, in order to make it fit on the wireless mouse pad thing. A great thing they did though was make it slightly magnetic, so I'd you tilt the keyboard with the mouse on it, it won't go sliding off immediately. It will do it, but you kinda have to force it.

The connection is either 2.4ghz or Bluetooth - I was having some severe lag on 2.4ghz, which was strange since it had line of sight with my keyboard and there weren't a lot of other 2.4ghz band devices around. I switched to Bluetooth and it improved alot. Switching between the two is easy, the keyboard it's just a toggle switch on the side, the mouse it's a switch on the bottom & to enter pairing mode just push all 4 side buttons at once & the LED on top of the mouse will blink blue for pairing mode. The keyboard times out after 15 minutes, so if you're watching YouTube or something, you'll be restarting the keyboard a lot. The mouse can seem to take a little while to awake from sleep too sometimes. It's not a huge huge problem, but it would have been nice to be able to turn off the auto sleep feature.

The charging station it come with is almost perfect. It holds both keyboard and mouse really well, and isn't flimsy at all. I only wish that the charging port was a micro USB, and that it was easier to remove the keyboard from the charging port easier. It's stuck in there pretty good, and usually you usually have to do it two-handed to get the keyboard out.

I haven't had a chance to test the battery life on it yet, but with the charging station so easily integrated and easy to use, you shouldn't need to go very long without charges. It keeps it out of the way too so it's a win/win.

The turret integrates with razer synapse pretty well, you can easily change and map buttons to both the mouse and keyboard to whatever you want. It's not as complex as my chroma blackwidow, but it's pretty good. There's a "razor" button on the keyboard near the directional arrows that you can remap to whatever you like. That's a nice touch since it doesn't have a dedicated macro keyset at all.

This thing isn't perfect, but it's a great size being very small, thin and light, and is easy to use on your lap. It's not meant for twitch first person shooters, but if you do something else like civilization sim or turn based games it works great. If you just need something for web browsing and such then I'd go with something like a Logitech k400. If you want something like this, and don't want wires, your choices are pretty limited but this one isn't as bad as

Great concept that fails to deliver.
by Drew Williams (3 out of 5 stars)

It's... okay. The build quality is good enough. The range is *abysmal* (particularly in RF mode) for something that's advertised to be used in the living room. It's called a "gaming" M&K, but I would never recommend anyone use it for gaming, especially the mouse. Laptop-style chiclet keys are annoying at best, but I knew what I was getting into there when I bought it so that one's on me. There is no backlight for the keys and the caps are unnecessarily shiny, and while the green labels look nice, they make it nearly impossible to read if your overhead lighting hits it at the right angle (which of course mine does, the *exact* right angle), even during the daytime. The mouse... oh the mouse. It's too small, and my hands are probably below average size. It's too light, even with the magnetic resistance. It's very finicky compared to the keyboard in both BT and RF mode. Sometimes it takes up to about 10 seconds to decide it wants to connect after waking it up from standby in BT mode, which is unacceptable when the keyboard reconnects in less than a few seconds. It also randomly stops responding in BT mode at least a couple of times an hour for about 5-10 seconds, so I have to wiggle it until it starts moving again, not exactly ideal for any kind of less than casual gaming. If you're more than 6 feet from the receiver, don't even bother trying to use the mouse in RF mode because 50% of the time it won't even move. I will say it's nice to have the flexibility to flip a switch to go from BT to RF on the fly for UEFI configuration and such, so it's got that going for it.

All in all, this is a great concept for us HTPC users and couch gamers who refuse to use a console, but sadly as there is no real competition in this particular space, this is about the only option (and it's not a very awesome one). This thing is way *way* too expensive for what it does. At about half the price it's currently at, I'd probably add a star to the review because of the "get what you pay for" factor, but when I pay a premium price for something, I expect a premium experience, which this is not.

Great Product

Really like his product! Have it in my "Man Cave" to play computer games on; have no complaints. I didn't like the cost when pushing the "Purchase" button but after buying it, I didn't mind the cost after all. It's a quality product that works. This is not a full sized key board and mouse; it's smaller. I saw some people complain about the magnet on the mouse and I think it's great. I can move my hand away from the mouse and the mouse stays where I leave it as a adjust my sitting position on my couch. The product is not too bulky like others and provides all the tools you need in a small package to enjoy your computer on the TV. A great stand is provide to store the keyboard and mouse (like a work of art) that recharges the batteries and the Battery life is not an issue; you can use this for days without a recharge. Great product that I would buy again!

Great but...
by Shawn B (3 out of 5 stars)

The device in general works as expected. The only issue I have is 1. After the keyboard finishes charging it automatically turns it's self on and pairs it's self with whatever device you last had it connected to, which in turn causes it to constantly drain and recharge which will destroy the battery faster. The 2nd issue is that the mouse constantly loses connectivity on bt or using the dongle. Other times it gets very jittery almost like a lagging streaming connection and then all the movements that didn't happen suddenly happen all at once. The device in general is way over priced. Razer is probably making a 200-300% profit on this. If you want this for looks then I'd suggest buying a separate wireless mouse. Other wise go find another keyboard with a lap tray and a wireless mouse. It will save you 75$.
