Better/cheaper alternatives available

These are for the most part, a satisfactory product. Build quality was good and the shipping from Amazon was quick. There are, however, a couple of issues.

Probably the biggest issue is that leads of contemporary components, and in particular: resistors and ceramic capacitors, are a very fine 30 gauge. As a consequence they are not gripped well by the breadboard which results in frequent open connections. Turn the board upside down and some components may actually fall out. I could get some components to stay put only by folding over the leads - but this was problematic when trying to get the out. Before buying these breadboards, I had purchased, also through Amazon, a component kit from ProTech Trader. This was a companion to the book 'Make: Electronics' and included a breadboard labeled SYB-120 which did not suffer from the loose component issue. Googling 'SYB-120' I found several suppliers, one of which (Open Impulse) was selling breadboards for $1.03 ... for TWO! (I had paid $9.99 for three Elegoo boards). The SYB-120s differ from the Elegoos in that they only have one bus running down each side and no labels. Nor do they clip together the way the Elegoos do. I ordered five two-packs (10 boards) for a total outlay of $5.15. The only real downside is that they took almost 4 weeks to arrive.

On my first review I said the product didn't have a good quality because the terminal connection of the breadboard was not tight enough, so usually I had to check all connections and wire of the project.

After this review, on middle of november/18, Elegoo contacted me to apologize about the quality of the product. They said "We've already designed a new breadboard which is much better then before". They sent me a new kit of the breadboards which is much better. The quality really changed and seems to be better than the first kit I bought.

They contacted me one month after my first review and it shows me that Elegoo really care about your customers and your products.

Edit: A new set of three boards arrived subsequent to my initial order. These are straight, and deserve 5 stars as they work, exhibit no bowing and are exactly what I would have expected. I am quite happy to have the newer boards - just what I was looking for. Even the color is an improvement. Good customer service, in my view!

I originally bought these in August 2018 and they weren't great as they struggled to hold anything with small leads. Elgoo recently reached out to me and offered a replacement because they did a redesign, and let me tell you, they really nailed it. Everything from ICs to 1/4W resistors go in with ease but still have a nice firm fit where things aren't wobbling in and out of connectivity. I prefer these over my Adafruit breadboards now.

Breadboards are ok, not great

These breadboards are functional, you can plug components in and they work.

I'm taking points off though because all three breadboards are visibly warped, and the holes seem really inconsistent. Some require a lot of pressure to insert a wire, and some are so loose they don't hold on to wires very well.

These are great for testing out ideas and becoming familiar with components. The breadboards are well constructed and hold the wires and other components securely. They have been very useful.

I don't remember if the dimensions are listed or not, but the boards are smaller than I thought they would be. But that is actually good for the project I needed them for. I didn't want to do any soldering so these boards were great.

Well constructed. Labels are printed clear and easy to read. The detachable power rails are easy to snap back in with three pegs on each side.

Using them to experiment with Arduino.

An Arduino Micro fits just right.

There is an adhesive tape on the back. I did not know and don't currently needed, but it can come in handy

Edit:I have been given the chance to review these new version boards and they are significantly better quality than my original purchase. The boards are of a better material and lay very flat which was a huge problem in the early version.

I would definitely recommend these new boards. And I'm certainly glad Elegoo listens and responds to their customers reviews.

Edit: I compared the new new version to my old version and it is amazing how much better the new are. Nothing has changed on the old version from the original review I have left below. I think it's fair to leave the old review intact as a comparison.

Works ok, but not really happy with the fact that they are not flat at all. The adhesive tape on the back can't even keep them completely flat. They were cheap though, so all in all, if you're pinching pennies they will get the job done.

I originally purchased these solderless breadboards about 1 year ago. When I got them I was sorely disappointed. They were warped to the point where they couldn't be used. They were also a strange off-white, like they used substandard plastic or leftovers from a real production run. If I was Elegoo, I would've been ashamed to foist these things on the market.

Seeing the latest reviews, I decided to give them another try. This time around I was very happy. They're a nice bright white and much stiffer plastic. And all 3 breadboards were completely flat. Connection points were a bit stiff at first but everything plugged in snugly.
