An album composed by cellist with Americas National Symphony Orchestra David Teie, has been scientifically proven to enrich the lives of cats and provide a calming influence for our feline friends. Comprising of five cat-friendly compositions, each around 10 minutes long, is a collection of sounds and classical music. Music for Cats was born out of his scientific theory on the music appreciation by animals. Felines establish their sense of music through the sounds heard when they are kittens: Birds chirping, suckling for milk, or their mother's purr. With this premise, David composed Music for Cats, incorporating cat-centric sounds and classical elements. An independent study conducted by researchers at the University of Wisconsin and published in Applied Animal Behaviour Science verified that Music for Cats makes for contented kitties.

I was at my wits end with my anxiety ridden cat. Tried lots of things and they helped some but not enough. Was almost ready to consider putting him down per vet suggestion. Then I found this and figured one last try and IT worked! I put the music on after it arrived and got some instant results. within 24 hours I had my old cat back! Now whenever I leave the house for more than an hour or have anything going on that would pset him, I play the music. It is actually not bad to listen to for us humans either!

Well, I'll be horn-swaggled: the next time Floyd was running around the apartment like a maniac looking for something to knock over, I put this album on and he skidded to a stop, then moved closer to the speaker and lay down on the floor. And it has worked like a charm every time since then. It's sort of like John Tesh music for cats.

This is a new release that I had to wait to receive. I can honestly say it was worth the wait. Both my cats and I like this CD. The sound of which seem to calm us all down. The music is generally subtle and soothing in nature. The musician seems focused on the purpose of the music and the entire CD's quality is very good. At certain times in the music faint purring sounds can be detected but is not ever over emphasized.

I hope this same musician, David Teie, will create another 'cat music' CD for we cat lovers. Frankly I was amazed at how calming this human, servant to Dazee and Sissy, felt during the repeated playing of it. I have yet to tire of the rewards listening to it offers me. Thanks so much for this CD Mr.Teie.

My cat didn't give a mouse whisker about this music and I didn't enjoy it either. He does enjoy the subliminal CDs so we're going to just stick with those.

This is basically musical sleeping/relaxation pills for my cat hahaha. My energetic girl loves to run and play rather noisily (she's a chatty siamese mix who goes warrior mode when excited/playful) all day and I'm happy to give her all the entertainment she needs/wants, but sometimes I need her to calm down and have a good nap or to just stay nice and calm while I'm meeting with clients (I'm a counselor and my kitty stays in my office with me during the day) if someone is having a tough day. I used to think that I'd have to put her in her carrier to get her to slow down when sessions got a bit intense, but really wanted to let her always have her freedom in my office. So, I went in search of a solution and found this music. The first time I played it, she stopped mid run/warrior cat game time, hopped up next me to at my desk and went to sleep. I started to do this regularly whenever I noticed that a session was about to get serious/and each time she would just stop what she was doing and chill out (the music is also pleasant to listen to in general so my clients and I both liked it as well, very relaxing). It was GREAT! There has since been a neat update though. Somehow she learned how to tell when I was about to turn on the music (maybe she could sense the emotions in the room or something) and without needing the music at all, she would just go and lay down for a while. So, now I have a kitty who is playful at the right times and who knows to go and relax when it is needed as well. Now, I just play the music from time to time to comfort her when I have to go out or to reinforce the right moments I need her to relax. So, overall not only has this been a great way to help my kitty calm down when needed, but it has helped her learn to naturally be calm when my clients need her to be calm as well. Long story short? I LOVE THIS MUSIC!!!

Good but Somewhat Odd

It is really a nice cd especially for anybody who likes Müm or Sigur Ròs but I gave it four stars because there is one track that has some weird additional noises. It isn't off=putting but somewhat distracting for humans. Our six cats like it though!

Heard about this on-line and had to try it. I play it softly for my elderly cat near his favorite chair where he spends his day on a warm heating pad. I do see how the sounds can be soothing. I think this would work for myself at night to help me sleep! There are 5 tracks on this CD and it plays about 50 minutes. My other cat listened to it for about 5 seconds and walked away. So, not all cats will respond to this.

I have four cats and sometimes play this after dinner. They settle down and nap! Of course, they do that every evening after their post-dinner playtime, so I don't know if it is the effect of the music or not. It is quiet and calming: a lot of cello and string harmonics and synthesizer "purring" underneath. I don't find it objectionable to listen to.

My cats ignored this. The music itself is, eh.

One of my cats seems to prefer listening to regular classical music. She likes Chopin.

But this? Both of my cats proceeded to go out onto the patio after giving me a look like I'd gone mad.
