GPS sync takes too long
by Stephanie (2 out of 5 stars)
April 17, 2019

Takes 10-15 minutes for the watch to sync with GPS. I bought a second one with the hopes that my first was a fluke, but the same thing happened. I really like the heart rate monitor and coaching functions, but I can find that on other watches. I also like how fast it syncs with the app. Still disappointed though in the length of time needed to sync the GPS, and that's a dealbreaker. Once synced, it worked fabulously, but fifteen minutes of waiting just to get going is agonizing. Looks like I'll be switching to a different watch. I had high hopes for this one.

Edit: still using a week later to see if I could work through the issues. Unfortunately, the watch is Consistently off in the miles department. My husband's Garmin watch, phone, and my AllTrails app have us running 0.5 to 1 miles ahead of the distance the S1 records. The GPS syncs faster now, but the inaccuracy is another dealbreaker.

The S1 watch it look Very practical, persistent and beautiful. The only thing is , if S1 watch can add in vibration alert ,it was perfect because presently the watch only alert the notifications but not vibration?

Great running and daily watch
by Eddie (5 out of 5 stars)
May 9, 2019

I originally bought the watch to track my runs, but I've started using it as my daily watch as well because I love how it looks.

Running: With built-in GPS, I'm able to track my runs without my phone. I get all the data I need: distance, time, speed, pace, calories (and even more data additionally displayed on the app after my run). It also tracks heart rate, which is important to me during workouts (based on comparison to my Suunto watch, the heart beat between the two vary 0-2 beats, so seems pretty accurate).

Daily: Great durable basic watch, and I love that it tracks my daily health, like steps and calories. And on the days that I've forgotten to move, the watch alerts me to move around, which is actually just what I need when I'm stuck at the office (even walking every hour or so will have its benefits).

All in all, even though it doesn't have all the features of a smartwatch, it's great for tracking my runs (and I'm looking forward to the cycling mode) and definitely a great purchase for the price.

Me encantó! Es Super ligero, muy útil para mis entrenamientos, me da todos los datos que necesito, aparte para motivarme con los pasos que doy diarios voy juntando monedas para la tienda de la app. A muy buen precio para todo lo que incluye. La app da un excelente servicio.

Disappointed, app went crazy, watch wouldn't work properly.
by MARA E. (2 out of 5 stars)

No,no,no... I had the watch for one week and I used it everyday. Two of four days of use the watch failed. It recorded one accurate reading for an indoor run, the second time it kept pausing every five minutes and if I tried to restart the activity on the watch the screen was unresponsive and deleted every information before it stopped, so a 9k run on the treadmill ended up being a 0.11 miles run in 20 minutes, how's that even possible?.

For both outdoor runs the gps never worked, second time I carried my phone and synced it to the watch and still it took a while to get the gps location.

The days in between runs I left the watch home and the application would record steps during the day I didn't walk! To my advantage that meant I made some coins for free but then again, what's with the app too?! And the app! I subscribed to have premium access and get the audio coach, I turned it on and never heard it speak, maybe music is supposed to be off? I guess I'll keep using the Nike app. And trying to update the AGPS so that the watch gets an accurate GPS reading... good luck with that. The app went crazy and kept popping "AGPS updating", "Failed to update AGPS" over and over and over.

I did a fair amount of research before I purchased this watch, runner blogs, amazon reviews... it all pointed out how good this watch worked for the price, it might have not been the case with me due to a defective product, I'm returning it and might try a Garmin product. I wish it had worked for me.

Unit was DOA
by Daniel Ross (2 out of 5 stars)
April 28, 2019

Dead on arrival, right out of the box. Wouldn't accept a charge, power on, or give any indication (charge icon on the screen, case temp increase, anything) that the watch would charge. Not through a laptop USB port (.5A) or wall charger (1A).

Couldn't give it a try, but for what it's worth, the watch physically has potential. Way too big for smaller wrists, but the band was incredibly comfortable and I liked the simplistic design. Surprisingly, the watch is lightweight for its size and build quality. I've worn Casios that weigh less.

Fingers crossed mine was just a fluke, but I simply returned it for a refund over risking a replacement.

Best value fitness watch w/ Heart rate monitor
by Joe K (4 out of 5 stars)
June 26, 2019

Hardware:

Has proven solid. No major problems other than the occasional bad heart rate reading, but that's likely bad placement due to my weightlifting gloves forcing me to wear it further up my arm.

Speaking of, in addition to not being able to sit on my wrist, the buttons get hit a lot while lifting or doing things like pushups.

Obviously only an issue if you're lifting which is not the primary intended use.

Software:

Could be a bit better. It won't even connect if I don't have BT AND GPS turned on. Also occasionally drops it's connection anyway. Took me awhile to figure out the GPS requirement, causing a lot of wasted time trying to get setup before a workout.

Cons:

Pretty basic functionality beyond the HR monitor. Would like more smart interaction capability without having to pull out my phone.

No media functionality

No exorcise select/skip/pause/etc. ability

very few menu options

Awesome watch and customer service
by K. Fernando (5 out of 5 stars)

This watch is worth well over the amount they're asking for it. For a beginning trail runner, it accurately tracks pace and mileage and more, quickly acquires a gps signal, and charges fast using the usb cable that comes with it. I recommend this for anyone who is trying to get fit, or train for an event without the budget or need for an expensive device.

Also speaking of that little usb cable. I accidentally lost mine minutes after opening the box (this is quite typical behavior for me), and after sending a message to the runtopia facebook page, they responded quickly and offered to send me a replacement cable free of charge! Awesome product and even better customer service.
