Switched to Tidying Cats Breeze system and LOVE it. I use the drawer to store the ...

Cannot rave about this product enough. It was a bit challenging to assemble but so is any furniture that comes in a flat package. I straight up went Pimp My Ride on it and added a door flap using some piece of plastic from the hardware store, and a fan to make sure air flows OUT of the carbon filters and in the door. That is my only complaint is what's the point of two carbon filters if there is a giant door opening...? Without my mods there would be zero air flow through the filters. I started with a dusty litter (Pretty Kitty {AWFUL TRACKING}) and you could the effectiveness of the fan from the dust buildup on only the one side. Switched to Tidying Cats Breeze system and LOVE it. I use the drawer to store the extra pads, toys, etc and toss a box of arm n hammer and a deodorizer in the extra space. I wouldn't recommend storing anything in the drawer if you use a dusty litter as it will get in the drawer. But the breeze system is nearly dust free.

Don't waste your money!!

For the price of this I expected quality. Of the two doors, one is perfect but the other came with stains all over it that do not come off, on top of that, a section on the stained door wasn't finished, so there is rough patch of wood that is very visible. The plastic liner is a nice touch but if your cat accidentally pees on it... the smell cannot be removed. I've tried to disinfect it multiple times to no avail. Also for the price, I thought the litter catcher shown in ALL the photos would be included, but it is not included. For $200, I expected a much better product. I'm highly disappointed.

Fairly happy with this purrrrrchase

Oh, the horror of stinky cats! My two boys love to take massive dumps that smell up my office. I've tried several types of odor-repelling products ranging from litters to dome cat boxes to even essential oil diffusers (that last one works fairly well).

I wanted something that helps with odor control and allows me to have a functional, out of sight, litter box for my boys.

This wooden cat box center was fairly easy to put together but it's not high quality so don't get your hopes up. Some of the screws that came with this box were stripped upon arrival so we had to improvise. Also, one of the knobs doesn't have an opening so we couldnt attach it to the door. Don't know if other people have experienced this or not, but just prepare for Chinese-manufactured junk. I will also probably paint this box as the color is nice but it doesn't really match my decor.

There's a fairly adequate ventilation area in the back of the box and an opening on the side that my lab can still get his head into for treats. I curb this habit by placing the box about 7 inches from the wall in the corner of my office -- cats can still go in and out, but lab has to work really hard to crane his oafy head in there. I did not purchase the accompanying litter tray and wish I had, as the boys track their mess all over the floor. I'm hunting for a nice rubber pad to put down to catch the litter at a much lower price than the one that matches this piece.

My suggestions to buyers -- drill more holes on the sides of this box. While the ventilation area is adequate, litter has a lot of dust and I can't imagine it's safe and/or healthy for our cats to be breathing in the dust in this ultra-contained space. My cats spend about 20 minutes burying their treasure so that's a long time to breathe in all of the debris. Overall, happy with the purrrrrchase.

I am so happy with this liter box

I am so happy with this liter box! It is in our laundry room of our new house and people are shocked when I say it is the liter box. It helps hide the smells and works as extra counter space for my husband's shirt press. I plan to buy a new liner every 6mo or so because it is flimsy and I think it might hold the smells as my kitty occasionally goes a little outside of the box.

Nice concept, sub-optimal implementation.

This was a nice idea and it looks pretty good. The construction quality, though, is a bit lacking. The design of this box uses Ikea style cam lock fasteners and some dowels for aligning bits. The problem with the cam lock fasteners, other than the concept, is that the screw/dowel parts are extremely flimsy and ill fitting. And the alignment dowel holes are sloppy in a way that renders them almost useless. The cup hinges included to fasten the doors to the carcase are also problematic as getting them to align to the upright stiles is an exercise in futility. I build furniture as a hobby and I can only wonder what people who don't have my experience do when confronted with the challenges of making this work. That said, once assembled, it's a pretty neat piece of work. I'd say that it's probably worth more like $75 but then, I did not have to build one myself so that's sort of a win.

Great appearance. Not very sturdy and storage drawer is a design flaw.
by Valerie C. (4 out of 5 stars)

Looks like a really nice piece of furniture. So far it is keeping litter off the floor. I didn't order the pad for tracked litter but put a small area rug down on that side which works just fine.

The only thing other buys should be aware of.
1. It's not as sturdy as I was expecting. Held together by dowels mostly a some screws. I think if you tried to move it, it would completely come apart. I was worried about my cats possibly jumping on top of it, but so far so good.
2. Parts were labeled very well, but instructions were just diagrams that weren't always labeled well. Took some imagination to figure out some of the steps. Diagrams with some written instructions below it would have been better.
3. Drawer was a total nightmare. Drawer was simply too deep to even fit into the track screwed into their pre-drilled holes. I saw comments in other reviews warning the drawer was a flaw in the design. So when I had the same trouble as other reviewers, after working on just the drawer for more time than it took to assemble all the rest, I finally threw that out and used the screws as the door stops on the inside instead. Either the parts, pre-drilled holes or lack of instructions are the problem. The manufacturer needs to rethink that drawer since some people may buy it instead of another furniture option for the storage drawer.

I am very happy with the appearance.

Functionality is another matter that buyers should be aware of in advance in case it is more important than appearance to someone.

Quality Does Not Justify Price
by Michael M. (3 out of 5 stars)

The cabinet is a nice looking piece of furniture, but the quality and strength of product do not justify such a high price point.
- Assembly is very straightforward and took about 30 min.
- Packaging was good. Everything was packed well, but one of the doors had to be glued back together before assembly. Does not appear to be a shipping issue based on how it was packaged, this appears to have left the factory this way.
- Top and bottom pieces are the most sturdy due to a cross bar. Sides are thin and only held to top and bottom by minimal hardware (cam fittings and wooden dowels).
- Doors are slightly off regardless of the amount of hing adjustment. Right door hangs slightly lower than left door.
- Due to hardware connections of sides to top and bottom, cabinet has movement from side to side. I would not put any heavy weight on the top.

I expected it to be much more solid for the money. I would expect this product to have a price point of about half of what I paid based on the flimsy construction

Matchy matchy, goes with my scratch...err
by Saxon (4 out of 5 stars)

First of all, what The Refined Feline calls espresso is actually a glossy black with grain patterns (a little darker than Ikea's black-brown but in the same universe). Fine for me, but if you're looking for something that is merely really dark brown, this is not it. Assembly is not hard, and there were no issues with holes in the wrong places, etc - if you think your holes are in the wrong place, then you're doing it wrong. If the knobs don't match your decor, they can be switched for anything at the home store. However, the instructions are, in fact, incorrect in a couple of places. When attaching the back, the picture shows the attachment on the front (put the back on the side that doesn't have the hinges). During the attachment of the drawer guides to the sides, the picture and part letters were wrong, so use common sense - the wheels will always go towards the side with the hinges - whether it looks as in the pictures depends on whether you want the entry on the left or right (side panels can be flipped vertically before attachment and still work). Some also mentioned that they didn't think it seemed sturdy, but I have no idea where they got that notion - it's entirely fine.

As for the actual product, the one thing I don't particularly like is the thing that looks like a drawer in the pictures, which holds the litter box proper. It is a corrugated plastic material that folds up into a box with velcro. It is supposed to do the job of keeping litter or errant pee from the wood of the product, but it's actually kind of difficult to get it in and out (doesn't really work like a drawer because the hinges don't leave enough space for it), and it is necessarily kept about 3/4" away from the side that has the opening by the aforementioned hinges, meaning that litter will always get in-between when the cat steps out (unless it jumps). The extra-large version might not have this deficit. I just got a jumbo sized plastic litter box that basically fills the area and don't use the corrugated liner, which makes scooping easier. As for the slots on the back for filters - I agree with those who point out that they're pretty much useless - if your box stinks, you need to scoop more often or change litters. Period.

If it matches your furniture style, and you've got money to burn, go for it. Looks a hell of a lot better than a litter box by the toilet or anywhere else.

great way to hide the litter box!
by Katherine Lew (5 out of 5 stars)

My husband and I host a lot of events at our home and so having the litter boxes out in the open was smelly, awkward, and an eye sore. I tried to put the boxes in the basement, but both our cats are social and would rather hang out with us upstairs. This was a perfect solution. It's fairly well made and hides the box very nicely. It didn't smell funny when it arrived and was relatively easy to put together. Overall, it was exactly what I was looking for, but it is a little expensive. However, if you can afford it, I would recommend.
