I thought these were really cool, but they're kinda unnecessary once you start using them. You can get basically the same effect by using the point of a normal highlighter; the only added service these provide is the chance to make the highlighter ink lines parallel between the text lines, but that only works if the font is a specific size or if there is the right amount of space between lines.

I color-code my notes, and these are great for expanding options. Not only can they be used to highlight a word/phrase, but the thin bit can underline, or I can set off a line of text by using the "empty space" between the thick and thin highlighters to outline a box around the text. I would recommend that you cap the highlighter as soon as you're finished highlighting so that they don't dry out quickly (a classmate borrowed my highlighter and kept it uncapped through 3 hours of lecture... the small point dried out a bit).

This item gives me three different ways to highlight and as if that's not cool enough they're cute, and not too expensive. I always find the coolest stuff made in Japan.

I bought these on a whim (because not a lot of American office supply stores carry beetle tip highlighters and I was intrigued by the concept) and I am pleased with the purchase! The actual highlighting side of the pen is not too thick - just wide enough to cover a line of standard 12-pt text. Fun and different from anything I have ever seen :-)

Awesome highlighters! The caps lock fine and the colors dont bleed too much through the page. The color ends up more like a pastel and a little lighter than traditional highlighters. But you can still see where you left your mark. Highly recommend!!

Good, but Smudges

They definitely do what they're supposed to do with tips for fine, thick, and double lined highlighting. However, they tend to smudge a little when highlighting written work so you would either have to write a whole page of notes and then highlight when you think the ink has dried, or use these solely for highlighting textbooks and other typed material.

These are so fun! As a pen-snob, I'm always looking for fun new things. Rather than having two tips with two caps, the Beetle allows me to change from highlighting the text, to both the text and spacing around the text, with just the flip of a wrist.
