Kayaking portability
by Linda (5 out of 5 stars)

The Conquest Kayak Dyad is great. It maneuvers very well, is very stable and easy to direct. It's also very comfortable because your seat is on a blown up "pad". We didn't get any "butt" fatigue like the hard shell kayaks. Set up is fairly quick and simple, about 15 minutes. The seats are easily strapped into place and the seat platform velcros into place. There is plenty of leg room to accomodate adults. We have our kids sit upfront and the adult in the back for better "stearage". We're very pleased with these kayaks and the ability to easily store them in our guest room! Tradtional kayaks present a problem since our garage is up to capacity. Delivery from Amazon was prompt and they arrived in great condition. We have seen these locally but Amazon's price was the best.

RETURNED

We thought this would be the answer to our camping needs. Something small to take camping instead of lugging the hard-sided kayaks with us. However, with the first use and only one person of average size, the water poured in. Not because it leaked, simply not strong enough to NOT crease and let water in. Very unhappy with this product and it was returned. I would not recomment this product at all.

A fun kayak but missing some parts
by Francis5 (4 out of 5 stars)

UPDATE: 7 years later, this Kayak is still going strong (aside from the seat straps...). We use it about 6 times a year. It has been down rapids and across lakes, and safely delivered my family across miles of water. All of that being said, we have never had a leak and the thing is a beast. If you fill it up enough, it should never fold on you...maybe bend and flex, but not fold. At my heaviest of 215 pounds, the thing held me like I was nothing though I may not have been able to get over shallow rocks. It drags in the water. You will fight hard if you are the fastest Kayak on the water.

Only now, 7 years in, am I starting to see that it may be time for a new Kayak. The straps on the seats have been hammered with heat in my garage and have weakened to the strength of sheet paper. They have all ripped. I cannot locate a company website to replace the seats and I am a little bit sad about it. While I initially hated my purchase, I have grown to love and appreciate what it has done for my family. I feel like 7 years is good for the amount of times I've taken it down the river. As I retire this raft, I would like to increase my rating to 4 stars, since I'm still a little mad that I had to buy paddles...

If you read the last sentence of this product description, you might think that you are going to get the two travel paddles that it says it will include:
"The Dyad Kayak is a two-person kayak with a clear, see-through bottom that inflates in minutes for immediate still-water navigation. The hull features two sturdy 40-gauge PVC viewing panels that allow you to view underwater marine life. The hull is constructed from four air bladders made from 20-gauge PVC, covered by a 1,200-denier marine polyester shell that resists punctures and tears. Multiple D-rings allow you to lash gear to the sides or tie the kayak to a larger vessel or dock and four rubber handles provide easy carrying. A 38-inch beam provides maximum buoyancy for easy riding and three PVC keels provide improved tracking for efficient travel over water. The adjustable nylon seats provide comfort and double as exploration mini packs. Includes two single travel paddles that separate into 4 sections no longer than 25 inches to allow for easy storage, with built-in paddle ties and an asymmetrical blade design that offers greater hydrodynamic stability."

After paying for one day shipping so that we could have it in time for a family camping trip, and then removing the kayak from the box while at the campsite, we were INCREDIBLY disappointed to find that it does NOT infact come with ANY paddles. Since we were in the middle of our family vacation in the middle of no where, it wasn't like I could run to the nearest Sports Chalet and pick up two sets of paddles. Lucky for us, we also had an child's inflatable raft with two small plastic oars and we made the most of it. Not nearly capable of the exciting expeditions to the lake's waterfall, we were still INCREDIBLY dissapointed. I'll be contacting amazon about this purchase and will let you know if they make it right with us. I can guarantee that the last sentence was the big selling point and we would not have gone through with our purchase at this time if we had known we would also be expected to pay for oars. We would have simply rented a kayak prior to heading up to the mountains.

Conquest Dyad clear bottom kayak (inflatable)
by D. Armenta (1 out of 5 stars)

What are the odds on getting 2 lemons in a row from Conquest? Our first Dyad (which is a bladder-and-skin inflatable)had a major leakage issue along the seams of the outer cover; we would be ankle-deep in water within 30 minutes. We contacted the distributor, who was very accommodating after we sent a video of the water gushing out of the seams after we'd filled it with a couple of gallons of water (to see where the leaks were)

We were sent a new Dyad while our first one was still in transit. We took it out and...once again, ankle deep in water. In fact, the new one leaked more rapidly. Constant bailing is required, unless you want to be waist-deep in water in about an hour.

I would like to point out that we are both well experienced with bladder-and-skin inflatable kayaks (3 other brands we own and use do not have this issue) and do not push the weight or capacity limits; nor do we operate these kayaks in areas where the skin or bladders may be easily punctured.

The issue with the Conquest Dyad is the seam on the cover. It leaks, and badly. The rest of the kayak seems to be sturdy enough. Definitely not worth spending $450.-plus on, though.

Pleasantly Surprised
by cp12 (5 out of 5 stars)

I recently made the plunge and bought the clear bottom dyad for my wife and I to use mainly on vacations, but also around the local beaches. We travel quite a bit and quite frankly grew tired of the rental process as well as the bulkiness of the hard shell kayaks offered. With this kayak we have been able to take it with us in the car for road trips, but more importantly on plane rides. Its portability is what really sold me but I was pleasantly surprised that the build quality and composure on the water was just as good as the hard shells we had rented for so many years prior. Its great to have our own kayak now so we can spend less time worrying about the rental process and more time out enjoying the water.
