I ordered 4 of these and wasn't sure what to expect based on other reviews. This review is for those trying to figure out which version to buy. I also own the ICUP moose mugs. These mugs are larger and over twice as heavy than the ICUP version. They both hold exactly 8 liquid ounces. The mug on the ICUP version is shorter and appears smaller but the volume is made up in the nose. The ICUP nose is completely open. On these mugs the nose has a tiny indentation so you don't see the nose fill up. These antlers are attached with no angle between them. The height on these antlers where they attach to the mugs is much taller and appear to be much stronger because there is more surface area in contact. The neck of the mug is much larger in diameter and appears in better proportion to the rest of the mug than the ICUP version. The glass and antlers overall are visibly thicker. These mugs have very little taper towards the top which makes drinking a little easier compared to the ICUP mugs which have quite a bit of taper. Overall I prefer these mugs as they are much heavier and look closer in design to the mugs used in the movie. I weighed both mugs - this mug weighs in a 1lb 2oz. The ICUP version weighs in at 7oz.

'Tis the season to watch holiday movies you love. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is a yearly tradition for my family during this time of year. I really wanted a set of these glasses and finally did it. I did a lot of research before the purchase and kept reading reviews on these type of glasses. It seems that people just need some clarification for common questions and concerns people share that comes down to thickness of the glasses in the nose area, if they are made of real glass, how many ounces they really hold etc. These are very thick glass and the nose itself is solid glass. The antler handles are very thick and are solidly mounted. The whole mug itself is very thick and heavy. It's listed they hold around 8 oz and they definitely do. Overall great purchase and conversation piece. A little expensive but that's expected with novelty items such as these. I definitely recommend purchasing these over the others out there.

Horrible design and the dimensions are WAY OFF!

(PLEASE SEE PHOTOS) I don't even know where to start. First of all, the dimensions are COMPLETELY INACCURATE. From antler tip to antler tip is under 8 inches, NOT 9.5. The height is about 3.5 inches, NOT 6. From the rear of the glass to the tip of the nose in the front is only 3.75. And I have no idea what the 5.5 measurement is they give but the mouth opening of the glass is only 2 inches across. I measured the amount of liquid it holds and it's right at 3 ounces. I photographed it next to a standard 1-cup measuring cup so you can see how small it really is.

As to the overall manufacturing of the cup, it's quite poor. As MANY other reviewers have noted, the antlers are simply glued onto the cup portion ... and not very well. You can easily see empty space between the base of the antler and the cup. After reading other reviews, the first thing I did was add some Loctite clear glue and let it dry. These types of glue are compromised when you subject them to heat and water so I would definitely NOT wash these in a dishwasher. I would hand wash them and immediately dry them with a soft cloth. And even then, I question the longevity of use.

The concept of marketing a Christmas Vacation moose mug is brilliant but I think the guys that thought this one up need to go back to the drawing board and try again. Unfortunately, plastic is probably the way to go.

Every year at Thanksgiving, my best friend and her husband watch Christmas Vacation. I gave these mugs to them and they were so happy! They enjoyed nog while watching the show and were so pleased. They come in a great box with official detailing. The quality is wonderful and they keep the nog at a nice temp. Recommend these for those who enjoy nog. I will buy a second set for my friend so they have at least 4 mugs. Thank you

Very well made mugs

I recently re-watched the Christmas Vacation. The moose mugs in the movie is not the same. The antlers (in the movie are MUCH larger).

However, as moose mugs go, these are very well made. They are awkward to hold but I purchased these for my in-laws who are big fans of the movie. They totally loved these.

If you're a fan of movie products or even if you just love having cool looking mugs, these are great.

I recommend these both for quality and the fun/odd appeal.

Poor build quality

These are relatively faithful reproductions, and are suitably weighty and substantial. Unfortunately, the build quality of mine is substandard. After a single use, one antler (handle) simply fell off, having broken exactly where it attaches to the cup. I super-glued it back on, but the antler continues to fall off after each use. The other antler, and both antlers on the other cup, are fine.

I loved this!!!! These glasses normally run about 25 dollars for an individual one so when I saw the price for two I knew I had to pick this set up. I gave them to my dad for his birthday and he freaked! He loved them so much he poured his drink into one and carried around with him all night, all while reciting lines from the film. He was super excited about these. Thank you so much for packaged deal. I am very very very happy with them.

Great gift idea

Great gift idea! My hubby was very happy to open this. We bought two, they come one to a box. Well protected by styrofoam, rugged seem to be heavy glass. Some had complained about the antlers coming off, ours seem durable. Washed a couple of times and still doing great.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!! My husband and I are big fans of the movie and we've always said we would love to have these glasses. We ordered the "glass" ones rather than the plastic ones and when they came, we filled them with eggnog and popped in the movie and smiled throughout the entire show. Only thing is that they can get a little heavy if holding them but I prefer glass over plastic.
