It isn't watermelon season yet, but this is the best bread knife ever. Even a fresh, soft loaf can be sliced paper thin without crushing the loaf.

Addendum: 7/31/17. I have tried it on watermelon and cantaloupe. It is okay but my long, sharp butcher knife works better. I am still crazy about it for slicing bread.

I got this knife a few days ago but didn't get a chance to use it until today. Firstly it is a lot bigger than is illustrated which really helps with the cutting of large watermelons. It is very well made. It performs as advertised. I was able to cut a watermelon in half the time it used to take me because the large sized knife, the super sharp knife blade, and the holes on the knife help the watermelon to fall away from the knife as you cut it, so I didn't have to pause and separate the watermelon from the knife with every cut. I love it. I should have gotten it a lot sooner. It's a must for all those who love watermelon.

PS - it works great on pineapples and other fruits as well. Its not a one function type of tool. Fabulous!

This knife is awesome, cuts like butter. I had bought one of these last year and couldn't find it so I bought another one for myself and one for my niece after trying to cut a watermelon at her house with the worse knife ever, the blade would actually bend while I was trying to cut. Not just for watermelon either! You can cut any kind of melon and use on your vegetables as well, although you need to be very careful when cutting something smaller than a watermelon. The blade is very long and VERY sharp.

Good sharp knife but it is hard to make a straight cut because the the blade is only beveled on one side. I could give it 4 stars since the blade is still holding its sharpness after two years of use, but it really annoys me when you cannot control how it cuts and a large watermelon is cut into somewhat wedge shaped pieces.

I was tentative at first since not all the reviews for this product were favorable. I can tell you though, that I am VERY happy with mine. Not only is it adorable, it is the first knife that really makes cutting up a watermelon a much easier task. The size of the blade and the serrations slice easily through the center of even large watermelons. For someone who eats a lot of fresh watermelon, it really is worth buying this knife.

Watermelon...Yum! If you love watermelon but have a difficult time cutting it up this knife is for you! This was my problem. I had a very sharp L O N G knife that I used to cut watermelon. The problem was it was too long and thin. It ended up slipping off the skin of the fruit and almost cutting me. The Kuhn Rikon works great! It has a long handle, wide blade and handles easily. Cutting is a breeze. Love it!

I bought this for my wife who loves watermelon. She used it on the big melons that a chefs knife can't handle. It cuts decently, but the blade flexes a little too much and she feels uncomfortable using it because of that.

I really like this knife. It cuts watermelon and other melons and squash well and is easy to clean. Plus it is cute and has its own storage case.
