Looks nice, Strong magnets, scratches knives.

Nice looking knife holder. Magnets are strong enough to hold very large knifes with no problem. It's hard to tell from the picture, however the magnetic strips have steel strips lining them on the edges, and the magnets and steel strips do protrude from the wood. Unfortunately this means that your knives will gets scratched by this holder. They are very small scratches, and you probably won't mind at first. As time goes by however it will bother you, especially if you wash you knives in the dishwasher, without immediately drying them. They will get spotty around the scratches. And of course if you buy this to show off the super nice knife set you have...well lets just say that would be a bad idea. Also buy your own screws because the ones included are just good for laughs. They are way too short and after going through the holder will only go in the wall about 1/4 of an inch.

Pluses - Looks nice, and will hold heavy knives

Negatives - Will scratch your knives, need to buy your own mounting hardware.

Works great

I read the other reviews for this product and bought #6 x 1-3/4" mounting screws (this is the correct size screw and work with the furnished screw anchors) before I attempted to mount the knife holder. The furnished mounting screws are too short. There are 4 magnetized bars on the knife holder which together securely hold the knives. But the knives release easily when you pull the knife out rather than down. My previous knife holder had 2 heavily magnetized bars which made taking the knives from the holder much more difficult.

Poor Quality, bad spacing, worse screws
by rusty_shackleford (2 out of 5 stars)

While the wood looked nice, that is probably the only good part about this knife block.
1) The metal strips on the outside of the magnets are not flush. This ultimately means there is one strip that is higher than the others, rendering all strips but the next highest strip useless. In my case, its the bottom inside thats the highest and the very top that the next highest. I'm not talking ust a little higher, but so much so that the knives sit at an angle on the block.
2.) Why aren't the holes 16" apart?!? Nearly everything else that is 18" and over that mounts to the wall has 16" mounting hole spacing, the standard distance between wall studs. The one I got the holes were 14" apart, One got to sit on a stud, but even that wasn't good enough because...
3.) The screws weren't long enough to go through 3/8" drywall and actually anchor into a stud.

Very disappointed. You get what you pay for, look elsewhere and spend a little more.

Good looking, solid build, strong magnet.

If you prefer your knife magnets to be wood instead of metal, this one is a great option. It is a solid build, and it isn't cheap looking at all, nice looking medium wood color. It holds all of our knives firmly (we have about 10 up there, ranging from large chef knives to paring). KegWorks shipped very quickly, so don't sweat the fact that this (as of this time) doesn't have amazon prime free 2 day delivery - they didn't slack at all in getting it out their door and to ours.

Love This!

Ordered this after husband bought me new knives for Christmas. I'm not sure how I ever lived without it. No more sticking knives in drawers where they get ruined. Or having a big butcher block on counter. It looks perfessional and adds to the flare of my kitchen. If you have a lot of knives I would suggest getting a longer one.

This is a really nice knife magnet

This is a really nice knife magnet, the picture does not do it justice! It's made of solid wood with the magnets nicely inserted in the wood. The magnets are strong enough to hold the knives but not so strong that you have to fight to get them off.I use it to hang 2 10" chef knives, a utility knife, paring knife, bread knife, vegetable peeler, scissors and a large bottle opener. It holds all with no problem and does not look cluttered.

but we anticipated that based on other reviews and cherry color works better in our kitchen
by John P. Ross (4 out of 5 stars)

Did not use the screws or anchors that came with the product. As other reviewers mention, they are way wimpy. The color came as dark cherry, not the honey maple shown, but we anticipated that based on other reviews and cherry color works better in our kitchen. The screw holes from the manufacturer are 14 inches on center. Do not know why an 18 inch knife holder would not use 16 inches on center to allow two screws going directly into studs. I drilled two new holes 16 inches on center, about an inch from either end. Then I attached it to the wall with two three inch wood screws directly into the studs. This installation is very stable. If I was metal, I think my 200 pounds would hang there just fine. Can't give it five stars for the reasons above, but with the installation modifications, we love it.

Super Strong Magnets!
by T. Barnard (5 out of 5 stars)
February 20, 2015

Looking at other reviews, some said that this holder had weak magnets. Well mine sure didn't! This thing would hold up a steel hammer! I guess it is possible that the magnets may be set a bit deeper in some, making them not quite as strong, but if you have a grinder you should be able to remedy that problem. I was prepared to do just that, but mine is super strong! I doubt an earthquake would shake anything off of mine! Nice quality and construction.

Just What I Need
by Seaotter or Hubby (5 out of 5 stars)

Hanging on the wall this knife holder frees up counter and drawer space which I like. It is really attractive and well made. It has very strong magnets. The knives never slide down and yet come off with a gentle twust. This knife holder holds lots of knives. I have eight medium and large knives on mine. It's the perfect suze. It is just what we need.

Better Safe than Sorry

I was somewhat hesitant to purchase after reading one or two negative reviews. I'm thankful I bought it. It's attractive, does the job and keeps everything organized and available. Now I longer risk life and limb searching through a cluttered drawer for the proper knife.

This is an excellent product at a very reasonable price, and it's easy to install.
