Not past formula!!
by Still Anonymous (2 out of 5 stars)
January 3, 2018

Although listed (and stickered) as Nuun's past formula (without stevia), what is being sent is Nuun's new formula with stevia. The whole point of buying the past formula is that some people are very sensitive to stevia. To these people this Nuun tastes awful.

The stevia plant has trace amounts of glucosinolates. To most people, these are tasteless, but to people with certain gene variants they are very bitter. Nuun seems to use stevia that has not been processed to remove these. That makes their stevia more "natural", but it also makes their product taste bitter to a sizeable minority of people. People with one copy of the gene variant will find the taste disappointing; people with two copies will find the product undrinkable. People without the gene variant will be pleased with the taste.

Regardless, the new formula should not be sold under an an Amazon listing specifying the old formula.

Great for endurance activities
by run slow, finish whenever (4 out of 5 stars)
September 10, 2016

I was introduced to these hydrating tablets while I was training for a half marathon last year.

PROS:
- Compact, easy to throw a tube in your pocket or a few tablets in a plastic baggie to shove in your running belt.
- They're not at all sweet, having no added sugar, but they're not bad on the palate, either. I found them to be a little on the tart side but it works for the flavors in this package. Strawberry lemonade, fruit punch, grape, and tropical.
- These tablets work really well for endurance activities. I used them for running and for some really long, brutal crossfit workouts. I think these are what saved me from dehydration, cramps, and nausea on more than a few occasions. When I ran my first full 13 miles, I was in the middle of a state forest with no access to additional water, phone service, or service roads. In hindsight, not the best plan. lol. However, I did find a campground about halfway through with a water pump and was able to chuck a tablet in just as I was feeling the effects of the heat and mileage. I was able to stave off the shakes and the pain for another hour thanks to the tablets.
- I only use these when I need them, and not regularly, so this pack lasted me a number of months.

CONS:
- If your water gets warm, these start to taste kind of terrible.
- The tablets are effervescent, like Alka-Seltzer, so if you put some in your water and run with it, the pressure will build up and when you open your water bottle it WILL spray you directly in your face. It doesn't seem to be a to-go kind of drink. More like a gulp-now beverage. However, when I was able to keep it in an open nalgene bottle in the gym, no issue there since I didn't have to close it and I wasn't shaking it up.

Nuun It!!
by Patti W. (5 out of 5 stars)

The Nuun Hydration, Electrolyte products are fantastic for several uses. Obviously, for hydration at the gym or for other activities that will drain your body of fluids, especially when just drinking water isn't going to do the trick. At the gym, they do the job well without all the sugar and other additives of Gatorade or other type sports drinks. I think they taste much better, too. I have found them in only one grocery store for a much higher price and in limited flavors.

Another use: My pharmacist recommended it to me for my night time leg cramps. The electrolytes help keep them at bay so I don't wake up in the middle of the night hobbling around trying to rid myself of the pain. It could be that all the water I drink during the day in our dry climate reduces my electrolytes, but she says she first tried them on a kayaking trip. She is prone to leg cramps, as well, and was not looking forward to being stuck in the confines of a kayak with a leg cramp. She said she popped 2 tablets in her water bottle and downed it before the trip and it worked wonders. I use one in a glass of water before I go to bed. It isn't 100% effective for the night time leg cramps, but it definitely cuts down on them.

Better than Gatorade a Million Times Over
by CollegeDormLife (5 out of 5 stars)

I have low blood pressure and I don't sweat very much. I also don't absorb water well, and a regular bottle of water will lead to a bathroom trip 20 minutes later. Enter Nuun. This stuff is great. Even the grape flavor, which I thought would be reminiscent of children's tylenol, is not at all bad. And I really love the strawberry lemonade. For reference, the cheapest I have seen these in single tubes is $6.99 at Whole Foods, so the box of 4 is a pretty good deal. I'm not a marathoner, so I'm not sure how many of these I'd need to drink to run two dozen miles, but for the moderate exercise I do these are excellent. I also discovered they are the ultimate hangover prevention if I have a glass of water with a tablet right before bed.

Amazing little miracles in a fizzy little tablet
by Valerie Ballard (5 out of 5 stars)

These things are amazing! They really do balance your electrolytes. I had some dental work done which left me very sensitive to cold to the point that I couldn't drink anything without experiencing excruciating pain. As a result, I didn't drink any water for an entire day. I am a person who dehydrates very easily and I normally drink a lot of water. I had no idea what missing just one day would do to me. The next day I woke up with such bad vertigo due to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance that I couldn't even walk. I had to bite the bullet and just deal with the pain and drink. I drank one 16 oz. glass of water with one of these tabs and I started to notice an improvement. I drank about half of another glass with another tab and recovered fully. Stupid, I know and I learned my lesson. The only reason I am disclosing my stupidity is to illustrate the fact that these truly work.

Drink lots of water, but when for any reason your electrolytes get out of balance, or you become mildly dehydrated, drink these.

Wish I'd Known
by LauraCat (4 out of 5 stars)

This is a good product, conveniently packaged, and I would recommend it - IF you know what you're getting. Things I wish I'd known before I ordered:
- The resulting drink is fizzy. Not soda-level fizzy, but even after several hours the carbonation is noticeable. For others this might not be a big deal, or might even be a plus, but fizzy things give me a stomachache.
- Nuun is essentially sugar-free. When they say low in sugar, they mean 1g of carbs (which, too be fair, was stated up front; I just wasn't paying attention to how little that really is) and sweetened with sorbitol. I can't do calorie-free sweet because my body responds as if there were sugar & then I get dizzy. (The fruit punch, which I tried, was not overly sweet, but it didn't taste sugar-free)

Bottom line: good product, wrong consumer.

One of the most amazing things I have ever consumed.

I stumbled upon these from a recent SlickDeals post and thought they were interesting so I gave it a try. I would honestly say this is one of the best things I have ever bought. I am a pretty active person (full-time student) I spend a lot of time walking around campus and I exercise almost two hours a day. I never drank anything so hydrating since coconut water, only difference is coconut water is expensive and not always available to me. I basically drink one tablet every morning and another throughout the day as I am exercising. I really cannot describe the sensation other than I get very hydrated drinking one of these tablets. I could not recommend this product anymore.

I started using coconut water in my camelbak which was great but after a few hours it would get warm
by Mjolnir (5 out of 5 stars)

Ever since I started endurance training, more then 2 hours running or what have you, cramps have been a serious issue for me. I started using coconut water in my camelbak which was great but after a few hours it would get warm and was disgusting. Cue Nuun electrolyte tablets. No sugar, great tasting, and warm water isn't nearly as bad as warm coconut water. I now use these in my water throughout the day to keep the electrolytes flowing without the sugar of sports drinks. Also when cleaning out my camelbak I don't have to worry about sugary residue left over, just rinse and let dry.

no extra sugar, electrolyte water
by Mike B. (5 out of 5 stars)

I needed the electrolytes on long summer workout days, but didn't want the sugar. These did the trick. Taste is nothing special, but I was rehydrating, so tasted fine. Split one in half and put both halves in a water bottle in a pinch. I let sit a little while to shed the carbonation from the tablet. I'll get again next summer.

Not for everyone.

I thought these would be good because of all the rave reviews. But no way! I tried the grape and it was worse than cough syrup flavoring! Egh! And they're heavy, so taking them backpacking was a waste of weight. I don't know if the other flavored are any better. I decided I liked plain H2O better than these so I didn't waste my time on any of the others. Nothing against the seller though! They were great and shipped fast. This is prurly based on the product.
