5-Stars... works great!

Does what it's supposed to! Sprouts seeds in no time! Great that it has 2 trays so you can grow sprouts in succession. I use this daily and I rinse them twice a day because I keep it on a warm window sill and I don't want it to grow mold or mildew. So far, no problems with that so yay!
*UPDATE / TIP: When sprouting, it is very important to rinse often and drain completely. The clear trays in this sprouter lack holes in the very far corners, so water pools / accumulates there. This isn't a big deal if you are aware. Just be sure to tilt the clear trays to an angle to drain the stream of water that hides in these corners! (see last pic) Otherwise the sprouts will likely mildew / start smelling funky.

Works GREAT if you know the correct steps

Here's a quick start guide to grow broccoli sprouts: Measure 2.5 tablespoons and soak in water (separate container for 10-12 hours). Evenly disperse the seeds into the sprouter container. Rinse and place under the sink (somewhere dark). Rinse the seeds twice a day until the sprouts are bursting the tops off the container (About day 4). Place in the sunlight for half a day to green. Works every time!

This is the second sprouter like this I've had and I really like it

This sprouter does everything it's supposed to do and fits in a small space on the counter. The price is right. and I find no problems with small seeds slipping through the holes. If you soak seeds overnight before putting in the sprouter, then they swell and are too big to fall through. This is the second sprouter like this I've had and I really like it.

Small seeds wash through
by Linsey Mac (2 out of 5 stars)

I bought this to try and replace my 4 tier round sprouted because I thought it would fit and look better on my counter and the venting lid was a nice addition. While it does look better.... drainage holes are too big for small seeds. I mostly sprout things like alfalfa and clover and the seeds are just dropping through to the bottom water reservoir or running through with the water. The water also flows through really fast so you will likely need to water a few times per day. My 4 tier round only has holes around the edge making the water drip through... This is really more of a pour through. If you are able to water it more frequently and are sprouting larger seeds it might be ok but for me it is not likely to end up replacing my old one. I may fill it with a soilless mix an use it for pea shoots. It is also made of a really rigid plastic.

A simple, inexpensive and effective sprouter
by Jock Millenson (4 out of 5 stars)

This seed sprouter design is one of the simplest and least expensive of the various models of seed sprouters. I happen to like it because of its simplicity. You have two trays for sprouting, one top shallow tray to pour rinse water through the two sprouting trays, and a bottom tray to collect the drained water. Alfalfa seeds, which come with the sprouter, take about 3 days to yield edible sprouts. There is no need to soak the alfalfa seeds first, you can place them directly into a seed tray and the rinse water alone is sufficient to start the germination process. Larger seeds such as mung beans can be done this way but better to soak them overnight.

I have read some reviews that complained of mold. I have never experienced any mold problem, perhaps because I do not keep the seeds in the trays for more than 3-4 days maximum and after harvesting, I clean the tray thoroughly with hot water and ecological washing up liquid. Other reviewers have also complained about roots sticking in the small draining holes. Yes, a few will do this, but there is no problem, you simply pull them out when harvesting. Any few remaining ones are dislodged when you clean the tray.

If I have one complaint it is that two sprouting trays are insufficient. A third tray would allow a complete recycling every third day with sprouts continuosly available. With only two trays there are often days missing when you are waiting. I guess I have to buy a second sprouter and use of its trays to extend my original one to three tiers. This added expense is why I lower my review score to 4 1/2 stars.

Sproutastic!

I have tried several different sprouting trays and jars. This system is perfect! The water flows through evenly and keeps the right moisture level. It's a good size for the amount of sprouts and it fits nicely on the sill.

Good bye Mason Jars!!!
by TennisFan (4 out of 5 stars)
June 9, 2016

Wow, this sure beats the Mason jar procedure!!! So much faster and I seem to get a bigger crop. I would never go back to the old way. I purchased two of these so I can have different sprouts going at different stages. The top is not a perfect fit -- wish it was a little more durable, but for the price, it is great deal. So glad I purchased it -- should last a good while as long as I'm careful handling it.

Perfect sprouter for us!
by CPaolo (5 out of 5 stars)

I like the size and the dual layers. I've read some reviews stating that small seeds fall through, but even the smallest ones we've tried weren't an issue (soaking them first does cause them to engorge, which helps). Easy to clean, easy to water, two tablespoons of seeds made the crop seen in the photos. (Okay we did steal a handful before the photo, so it was actually more lush.) We are incredibly happy with this sprouter. We did find the seeds sprout and mature faster in a warm house, on colder days it takes a lot longer. I mention this only because I worry about mold starting if the sprouts aren't removed and eaten in a pretty quick time frame, so maybe put your sprouter in a sunny or warm section. However we have not had any mold issues. We did purchase good quality, more on the expensive side seeds, and I think the product you use makes a HUGE impact as well. With good seeds and a not-to-chilly environment, I would be VERY surprised if this was not the perfect sprouter for someone. Highly recommended, and looking forward to many more sprouty snacks over the years!

Making sprouts just got easier!
by Susan (5 out of 5 stars)

I have always loved eating sprouts on sandwiches, salads, and stir frys but never wanted to spend the money buying them from the store. Ive been growing them in mason jars for a while which works just fine but you do not get the same amount due to the restricted area on the bottom of the jar. I can now grow more a once to save me the hassle and even grow two different types at the same time. I will never go back to the mason jar again.

Fresh, Perfect Sprouts

Much improved over my 30 yr sprouter. The flow of water is distributed allowing all the seeds to have moisture. Can be used with tiny alfalfa seeds!
