Impressive

My wife bought these the first time and I griped and said it was stupid and unnecessary. That said I have never not been able to get a fire going even in the rain. But man oh man these things let me be lazy and always work first time. Plus I use them backpacking and they are super lite! I admit it. I would spend 5-10 min and brake up the twigs getting the perfect kindling and staging based on size to nurse a hard to light fire. Sometimes even having to use my knife and shave wood to get dry prices to start with. But this stuff is so easy and fool proof I seriously can just lump a bunch of sticks in a pile light this unde them and walk away. It's truly taken any skill necessary to light a fire and tossed gas on it. Lol. I'm hooked it's to easy and cheap not to use them.

Solid Fire-starter Fuel

I really like these little Wetfires. They've always worked well for me, even in the snow and sub freezing temps. Worth throwing in your backcountry pack, snowmobile bag, Jeep, first aid kit, hunting pack, etc.

Some folks have posted about them not working very well. Must be user error. As long as their little bag is still sealed airtight, (like a bag of chips before it pops) I've used these for a couple of years after their expiration date and they still work well.

As with any piece of survival gear, test it at home in a controlled environment first to set your expectations around it's capabilities and limitations. Don't wait until your in the backcountry to rely on it before you try it.

Easy to use, and good for starting a fire.

I've been using the product for years now. They are easy to light, and light weight. Would recommend them to anyone that camps. Scrape a few shavings (the smaller the better) It is easy to light with ANY heat source, but not so easy that your scared to carry it. Works well with spark from a dead lighter, Flint, Magnesium Sparker, match, lighter, ETC.. I'm no expert but I do love the out doors, and camping.

Though it would be cool to get a discount/free stuff for my honest review, I did not get any.. This is all me spending my $ and giving my honest review.

Works like a charm.

These things are great. Tinder is the hardest part of starting a fire, and these things make it much easier. You do NOT need an entire packet to get a fire started, not even close. If you have even decent conditions and you know how to build a fire, then you could shave off maybe 1/4 or less and still have plenty to get it rolling.

In fact, the only thing that would make it better is if you had a little case or something to keep the packets in once you unsealed one of them and partially used it. I can't knock the product for that. If you wanted to you could pre-shave some of this into an altoids or other small conainer and just pinch what you need to get a fire going.

A must have for anyone heading into the wilderness

These are great. I never head into the outdoors without them. They're small and light so they're not even noticeable in your pack if you have 3 or 4 of them. Natural tinder is always best but if you find yourself where there's nothing around that would serve or if everything is wet, you'll be glad to have one of these on hand. They'll ignite when wet and will continue to burn even if placed in water and they'll burn for a surprisingly long time to help ignite kindling. A match will ignite the block but if using a ferro rod (fire steel, flint, ferrocerium rod, w/e name you use), best to make a pile of shavings first. No need to shave the whole block down but maybe 1/4 of it will do so it catches sparks better.

Wow!!! Just like pressing a button!

Wetfire is amazing!!! I just used these successfully and easily on a camping trip in the mountains (very cold). I had another firestarter (Esbit), which failed to light.

I pulled these out and took a match to it. It lit right away and burned the kindling pile and the Esbit cube.

Next day, I shaved some of the cube and it took a spark (using StrikeFire) and lit instantly! Wow!!!

These are individually wrapped and that made handling them very easy.

Wetfire cube has the consistency of very soft but crumbly cheese. It's interesting in that it's firm enough to be manipulated and used (did not come apart during storage, handling and transportation), but soft enough that I can easily shave it to catch a spark. Amazing!

You don't need to use the whole thing. Just enough to catch a spark and start your kindling. The actual amount you use will depend on your situation.

I do a lot of primitive camping, but using this felt like I was cheating! Well, I was. :)

I now have these as emergency back up when all else fails!!

GREAT quality, and GREAT price

I have to give this product 5 stars because for one thing they aren't that expensive. Most other products will be on the verge of expensive, but this wet fire solid fuel was great for the job. I did wet it down a bit, and simply scraped off a little bit and boom, fire. I like the fact that even a little tiny piece of this will burn nice sized flames, I mean literally a small little piece can start a fire. It really only took me 1 spark from my Ferro rod and I had a perfectly hot bright fire. I tossed on some wood shavings then some bigger pieces and before I knew it I had a big warm fire.

Lights Easily, burns hot.

I took this product on a hiking trip and used it to start some fires at my campsite. The key to using this product is to get all of the shavings in a small pile that you can easily get sparks on. I used a ferrocerium rod and striker, and it worked wonderfully.

Again, I can't reiterate how important it is to make sure that you have the savings of this fuel in a pile where you can get sparks directly onto. You need that extra surface area, and once you get sparks on the it should catch very easily.

All of this being said, all of the wood and fuel and kindling I used was very dry, so I cannot speak as far as using this with a wet fire. I will update my review if I ever come across a situation where I do use this to start a wet fire.

I bought a 12 pack of these things to test out on my YouTube channel because there was a lot of talk about them. I am happy to report that I am now a fan of them as well. One cube can be used many times because all it takes is some shavings off of the cube to get a good fire going. I have ordered many more of these and have put them in all my camping/survival bags.

Works like it says. You can't beat this stuff.

Works like it says. You can't beat this stuff to start a fire especially if it's damp or wet outside. Such an important thing to have with you in the field. Keep a few in different areas so you'll always have a solid way to get a fire going. A few in your pack, your jacket, your pocket, whatever. They can be a lifesaver. You also don't need the whole thing if you're not using it to cook. To start a fire you can use a small piece. Just make sure you keep them closed, sealed until you need them & put the leftover in a pill bottle or something similar with a screw down lid. They dry out and lose their power after a while. They also stink so don't keep them in your Nalgene bottle or cooking containers. Kind of like rotten fish and rubber? Anyway, get some. They're worth it.
