This was a gift for my niece who is 8. She loved putting it together and playing with it. She did need help putting it together. Some of the pieces are VERY small, which will make them easy to lose. Luckily, extras are sent with it, just don't forget where you store them. We put them in a zip lock bag, to keep them all together. The set comes with a tool to take the pieces apart and to help snap them together. I recommend building it on a hard solid surface with good lighting and plenty of room. Also having something large and somewhat flat with a edge, such as a cake pan, to put the pieces in, while building. It will make it easier to find the pieces without them getting away. Also be prepared to put it together more then once.

My son was delighted with this birthday gift as he is a Lego fanatic. At 5, he was able to complete this set with help, and he loves the features like the trap door, ladders, and skateboards. But, as is so often the case with Lego, anything that's a building/lair/headquarters falls apart so easily! I wish I could talk him into more ships and cycles and things that are a bit more sturdy as he loves to play with his creations. So, this would be enjoyed by any Lego fan, but be prepared for a lot of "Mom! This piece fell off again, can you help me!?"

Great for any TMNT fan

My son is a huge TMNT fan and loves this set for all the great play it affords. There are some neat features like the moving manhole cover so he can get some fun/active battles going between the turtles and the bad guys. I thought things would be breaking off every 5 minutes if it were being played with but it's fairly solid and holds up to play. My son is turning 4 next week and definitely could not put it together on his own so his almost 6.5 year old sister put it together for him (it took a couple hours of dedicated work but she had a blast). For a building-inclined kid it doesn't seem too challenging especially since the instructions are broken up into well-defined sections. My son was initially disappointed it didn't come with all 4 turtles but once everything was together he didn't seem to mind having just the two. And I'll admit, my husband and I played with it a bit ourselves. All in all everyone was really happy with this set!

This set is a lot of fun, and is likely to stir up some nostalgia for many parents sitting down to build this set with their children. The build itself is pretty straightforward, and novice builders are likely to only need a small bit of assistance with this set (with the stickers, at the least.) Once constructed, the set really keeps young builders busy with a lot of fun play features that LEGO seems to love cramming into these larger sets. A great build to share with the family.

This is a great Lego set! Fun to put together with lots of cool features when done. The Amazon price was more than $20 less than the Toys R Us price so win win! Only issue is that no Lego set gets you all 4 turtles - you have to buy multiple sets or buy the little guys ala carte. Hard to explain to a little one why the Lair doesn't have Donatello or Michaelangelo.

I am not a builder but I was able to put it together pretty easily. My six year old boy likes to play with it. I wish it came with more than one pizza for the oven. And I wish the turtles had a back up shell because he lost one the first week. But, I suppose that's the nature of lego - small pieces that are easy to lose for small hands. It is a cute toy though.

Got this set for my daughter who loves legos and she loves it. It was very easy for her to put together by herself and she loves customizing it with other pieces from her other lego sets and lets her imagination run wild. will definatly be getting her some of the other sets on her list.

My younger son begged for this for his birthday. Of course we got it for him. Amazon had the best price on it. There are a lot of pieces and it was too difficult for him to put together. His dad helped him and it was a nice bonding one on one time. He loved it. Great for any Lego collector.
