A decent knife.

It looks great from a distance, but in the hand you can see gaps between the wood and metal, and even see some glue from the fixing of the wood. This knife has decent heft in the hand, but little weight on the blade, being balanced all in the hilt. If you can sharpen it enough it might be good for whittling or something that needs fine precision, but I would not use it as a knife for camping, etc. Also, this is not a true Bowie style knife. I know that word gets thrown around a lot, but, as a Bowie, the balance is way off and there is no clip point on this blade (though you can see that on the picture).

All that being said, it is a good looking knife with some functionality to it, and it does catch peoples eyes when they see it, so I give it 4 stars for that reason.

this is my 2nd I bought. I love them, only thing after more thna year of wearing mine everyday, the nylon sheath in the bnottom has worn through, and i am getting poked by the tip of the blade. So I am planning to make a new leather sheathe for it. just got the tools I need. other than that. it's a great full tang knife. best price also

I originally really liked the celtic design thinking it was etched metal with enamel inlay. It turned out to be just cheap wood painted green with glue showing through the edges and the metal celtic knot designs are faded and unappealing. It is also too dull to cut anything.

This is by far my fav fixed blade knife, the quality of the full tang, the weight & especially the details in the handle make me proud to be a Scotts\Irishman....

My only complaint is with the sheath, especially with the way it's being held in place by a very short cheap piece of Velcro that doesn't hold the handle very secure (a heavy snap closure on a larger handle strap would be best utilized here) , & there should be some kind of reinforcement where the sheath attaches to the belt loop to keep knife & sheath in a sturdy upright position, (it wants to lean outward when just hanging, like a gunfighters gun handle does in its holster instead of tight up against body\leg)

Iuse this knife very frequently & often and these are things that cause worry when carrying a fixed blade knife as anyone knows the sheath makes all the difference especially when it's being used on a regular basis....

Besides the sheath i absolutely love this blade & get great compliments on it everywhere i have it but even the compliments say neg sh*t about the sheath also... I's jus sayin' lol

If you are into knifes, You will be very, very, VERY, happy! Great balance, good feel, ( same thing!) For me more of a show piece, and gifts for grand sons when they are not like ....four!!!

A review of the Celtic Elite Bowie, which some of you may be thinking of carrying in certain vests made of leather worn on iron horses.

It's a showpiece but a fine enough knife, I believe it would hold its own and it seems to take and hold a blade--providing, of course, that you know how to put a decent sharpening on it, because it comes shipped as a butter knife, of course. Bloody fine looking little thing, if Chinese as hell, but for the price, come the heck on!

Simulated Abalone? No, green stained rubber wood. Etching is ok and blade is full tang and needs sharpening. These are not fillet knives, so why would they come razor sharp? Handle is comfortable and sheath is light weight nylon for minimal use. This is a decorative knife, not a dragon slayer. I like it.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my boyfriend, who loves all things Celtic. It's a nice knife, and he's going to love it! It is heavy and sturdy. Seems sharp (though I haven't tested it). It came in a box with a sheath around the blade.

The Ridge Runner Celtic Elite Bowie knife gets five stars from me. It came earlier than the expected arrival date (it was here within a few days but shipping times could vary, I might just be located near a distributor or something). The knife is beautiful, the green of the wood and the etching on the handle are high quality and look really great. After reading the reviews I expected to have to sharpen it, but it arrived nice and sharp, to the point where no one really figured it would get any sharper. My only problem with the whole experience is that the order couldn't be tracked, but the fact that it got here early made up for it in my book. All in all, great knife, looks nice and is really sharp, 10/10 would buy again.
