Just okay...

What you end up with is a bit different than pictured. I had to sent my first one back in because it was so lopsided, and the one I got back, that I currently use, was a little lopsided as well --just not as bad. All-in-all, I like it but I just wish it was a little tighter on the quality control.

Never disappoints

I bought the iPhone 5SE for my wife for her Birthday. Since she loved the Twelve South book case she had for her old 4S, I thought it best to purchase the same for the 5SE. She loved the phone and the case. The leather is a dark leather and the best part it comes with opening at the back for the camera unlike the book case in the 4S model. So now she doesn't need to pull out the phone to click pictures. It looks classy and the compartments for cards and ID is a blessing esp for women.

This company's products are usually great but this one failed almost as soon as I started using it.

I love 12 south's laptop cases so I thought I would take a chance on a matching case for my phone.

This SE phone case is poorly sized and poorly constructed. It is way too big for the phone and the plastic case started coming apart from the leather backing as soon as I started using it.

Better than most but not the best

So I have been on the market for a iPhone 5 wallet case for a while. I had previously purchased the Book book for iphone 5 ($59.99)

Initially I was extremely happy with it for the first week, However when taking a closer look, I noticed it started falling apart and would not stay closed when sitting on a desk, The heavy plastic used to hold the iphone was covered in a textured rubber and was peeling off...it was a real eye sore for me as this does not qualify for quality workmanship...you could also see the glue they used in various spots (oversprayish).

The ID slot was excellent as it was easy to remove my card when needed, the leather is of great quality. aesthetically it is a great looking wallet phone

This case could definitely be improved. the plastic iphone holder does not suit this case...its like having a Ferrari with a fiat engine in it.

I would purchase this case again if attention to detail has been improved...especially for $59.99.

I have have since moved on to the Pad and Quill Little black pocket book for iphone 5. please see my review for any details. just search: Pad and Quill Handmade Little Pocket Book for iPhone 5 Black/Red Mahogany

Practical and stylish

I was a user of the Twelve South Book Book for my iPhone 4 and such a big fan of the case that I delayed upgrading my phone when the iPhone 5 came out for fear that second generation Book Book would not be as good as the first generation. Reviews I read were decidedly mixed. With the introduction of the 5s, however, I didn't feel I could delay any longer, so I bit the bullet and got this case.

My fears (so far) were misfounded. The quality of construction seems on par with my original (which was excellent) and the slightly longer form-factor and decrease in thickness of the iPhone 5/5s mean the wallet is, if anything, less noticable in a pants pocket than the original. (I typically keep a driver's license, 3 debit/credit cards, and my work and school IDs and it manages them fine. I can also tuck a couple of 20s in with no real issue.) One big difference between the two is that my work ID/door badge could fit under my iPhone in the first gen Book Book. In this one the tolerance of the snap in system is way too tight for that little trick.

If you are into minimalism--and you want a nice conversation starter--the Book Book is a great product.

The best leather phone case out there
by Jason Kay (5 out of 5 stars)

I've had this case for several months now and can definitively say this is the best case I've ever had. It works great for me as a phone case/wallet solution. I can carry 4 credit cards, my ID, health insurance card, and car insurance all in one case. It takes a little stretching/settling of the leather to make this happen, but if you're patient you can do it. The only downside is you really can't fit any cash in here. When a bill is folded it becomes thicker and I've never gotten it to fit well in the 'cash pocket' the case has. I always just carry cash separately in my pocket anyway, so this is not a big deal. I love the fact that I don't have to carry a wallet around with me anymore or deal with a constant bruise on my behind. Now I can keep everything securely in my front pocket and deter pickpockets. Yes, as some friends and family have pointed out, if I lose one thing I lose it all..but I look at it as having a tracking device in my wallet (find my iPhone). I'm always careful and never leave it sitting out on a counter or table. It's always in my hand or pocket. It's extremely durable, high-quality leather and looks and feels like a well-worn book. Tons of people have commented about this case and it's been one of the best purchases I've made.

Totally Worth Purchasing!

I love this product! It is totally worth purchasing.

I have been in need of a good phone case for quite awhile now. My cracked phone screen is any indication of that. I've never been a fan of the generic phone cases I kept seeing. A few of my friends had raved about these cases, but I was hesitant for the longest time, because I didn't want to spend that much on a case. I am so glad I finally got it. It has been worth every penny. It's nice that my phone is securely protected. Yes, I've dropped this with my phone in it, and it didn't do anything to my phone. The other nice thing about the case is it fits your driver licenses and any credit cards you need. I love having everything all together. I've loved it, and I'd highly recommend it.

Great case for iPhone 5s
by NoXcuses (5 out of 5 stars)

I bought this case in ledger brown for my black iPhone 5s, after owning 2 BookBook's for my hubby and my MacBook Air's.

This review is based on me using this case for an entire week, not taking the iPhone out. I am a paralegal, and I use my iPhone for both personal and business e-mails, calendar (also both personal and business) and I text (a lot!). Oh, and I use if for phone calls, an average of 7 - 10 calls a day.

First, the leather is awesome! As with my leather purses and shoes, I treated this case with some leather conditioner before I started using it.

Second, the jury's still out on the wallet feature. I guess I can live without it. I carry a full-size wallet (the one that comes with a check book holder!), so limiting myself to my ID and 3 credit cards is a little too drastic for me.

Third, the iPhone *really* does stay in there. Snuggly, too! I don't ever feel like it is going to fall out.

Fourth, the cut-out on the back for the camera and the flash is a great feature. I did not have a problem taking photos with the phone in the case. I am petite and I have small hands. My wedding band is a size 3.5!

Taking and making phone calls is not too cumbersome as I had thought. Of course, I use the bluetooth in my car, so it is not an issue. For now. It did take some getting used to, like a couple of days. Same as the texting. Once I got used to where my hands and fingers should be, texting and phone calls are not issues.

Lastly, I have the "Find your Phone" turned on, on my phone. So, if I ever lost the phone, "Find my iPhone" will also find my wallet! How great is that!!

Overall, a great investment case for my iPhone 5s (that I paid retail price for!). I've had it a full week, so no review on the durability. But very accessible, not bulky at all, and just looks great!

Awesome case!

I ordered an iPhone 5s case in black because the price went down. I was hesitant because I've seen mixed reviews on these. Best case I've ever owned! Beautiful, functional, smells like leather (as it should), and holds the phone snuggly in place. The only possible "down-side" would be the need for some sort of closure, i.e. snap closure or leather cord that would wrap around it, just in case it gets dropped. Otherwise, I love it!

Not the quality appearance I was expecting.
by t anderson (2 out of 5 stars)

This started coming apart about a week after I started using it. The lining pulled out from under the plastic phone holster within the first week, and the corner leather and lining has since come loose from the camera window. Still, it is a year old and I love it and still use it. Looks tortured along the binding as though twenty cars ran over it before they shipped it to me, and it isn't faded from my use; that is how it arrived originally. I like the used look but this is more a that thing is so dead look. No one can tell its supposed to look like a book. But the leather is high quality, none of the stitching has come apart, and the phone holster still works. The inner plastic corner brace fell off about a month ago but my phone stays so it wasn't so necessary. If this had come looking used and not dead, and if the inner lining hadn't come apart immediately upon first use it would have gotten a full five stars from me.
