An almost perfect lapdesk

Living/working in an RV, there is a decided lack of workspace, so having this lapdesk has been terrific... I use it almost every day. It is extremely sturdy, it has an excellent build quality and is a good size for my Surface Book. The mousepad is placed in just the right spot, and is a good size and just the right kind of material for a mouse (with or without a ball).

The phone slot was obviously designed for an iPhone, which I do not have. My slightly thicker LG G4 with extended battery is too big for it, so it goes unused. That is why I didn't give it 5 stars.

If I were asked 'how could it be improved', I would want 3 things: two widths for the phone slot; a small lip sticking up around the top of the lapdesk, to help prevent the laptop from slipping off; and perhaps slight padding underneath it.

Lap Desk, Floor Sitting Desk, and Bed Desk!

I was skeptical at first- why would a lap desk be so (relatively) expensive, but now I understand. This is made of quality wood - it feels substantial, but isn't too heavy. I actually often prefer sitting cross-legged on the floor, and this desk works fantastic for that purpose. It also works well if I want to work while lying in bed, and sitting in a chair on on the couch. I've also used it on top of the desk. In all these positions, it stops my computer from overheating. I had noticed that when doing some tasks (like a movie or game), the computer would start to get warm, and I could hear it working hard to stay cool. This product stopped my computer from working so hard to cool itself down, because the vents allow the computer the space to do that (which it didn't have on my lap, the desk, or the bed) . I wanted to try the product for a few weeks to make sure it met up to expectations. Great quality product! The computer and mouse both stay in place if I change position or angles when I'm sitting, and I like the look of the product.

The perfect lapdesk

I've been using the AirDesk for about a month now and my desk has grown lonely in its abandonment. The AirDesk has made it possible for me to work comfortably and efficiently from an armchair in my office and at the same time keep my MacBook Air cool. The AirDesk has just the right amount of workspace (I don't use a separate mouse, so use that location for papers, etc).

Unlike another reviewer, I've found the AirDesk holds both my iPhone and my iPad Mini stably, even when I shift positions or get up and use the AirDesk like a tray to move to another location.

The production quality is generally excellent. One drilled hole was ever so slightly rough at the top edge so I took a piece of sandpaper and very gently smoothed it out. Voilà! I'm going to be using the AirDesk for years to come.

l didn't get this free like a lot of the other user did. I waited for it to go on sale then bought it. I've been using an old ebay cheapo laptop cooling pad with noisy fans. This is literally just a piece of wood with holes drilled into it and a mouse pace recessed in. We're talking about 4 buck max worth of materials. Where the extra cost comes in is the great finishing of the product. It fits my MBP retina perfectly and my Logitech Track ball stays on the pad at just the right distance away while I'm sitting down. This wasn't just thrown together, someone sat down and figured out where to put what and how thick and all that. I could have made this myself but it would take me a while and time is money. To me the craftsmanship and excellent layout is worth the cost. It will last me forever.

Good for big laptop users who prefer mice

This thing spans across your entire lap, perfect for the bigger laptops with full 10-keys. I also prefer to use a mouse to a trackpad, so it was difficult to find a large laptop desk that had the width to support the full laptop and mouse.

The built-in mousepad is great and works well. I like the phone slot just above it, handy place to keep the phone that I didn't know I needed. The air holes work well to dissipate heat, I don't feel any at all. The only niggling issue is the laptop will sometimes not sit flat on the desk (because of all the holes), so you get a little wobble action sometimes. Just have to slide the laptop around until it finds the right spot.

Functionality at its most thoughtful

I love my desk! Initially, I was concerned that my laptop (17") would not fit on this desk, but it does! The mousepad is great, although I am still using my flimsy mousepad over the desk's original one. However, the desk's mousepad has a nice grip on my mouse. I love the design of this desk; it is a thoughtful build - great craftsmanship. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and it fits in the dock. One thing is the weight: the desk can become heavy after a while. I imagine it would be less uncomfortable after a while if I weighed more than I do, however, it is still such a well-built desk. I may purchase the smaller one for traveling. I posted a similar review earlier, but I don't see it, if this post seems repetitious.

Pros: Fits a 17" laptop; stable build; functional for multiple devices with the added dock and its port-hole; I am a lefty who uses a right-hand mouse, so this is a fabulous desk for me

Not at all comfortable

Really wanted to like this because I love the look, but I find it incredibly uncomfortable. It has no padding whatsoever, so the hard edges dig into my legs when I'm sitting back with it on my lap. When playing a game, the heat went straight through the holes of the lapdesk and concentrated on my leg. I don't think this did a good job of dispersing heat at all because I constantly had to shift it around to feel comfortable.
2 stars for the way it looks, I guess, but other than that it's not pleasant to have on my lap. I'm getting something with padding and no holes.

Fabulous Find

The snow! This thing will keep you cool enough that it might still snow. Why, when I was a kid, the snow would pile up outside the door and we had to dig tunnels to get to school. Uphill. Both ways. And don't get me started on laptops. We would have loved these as kids, but we probably would have used them for sleds in the SNOW, since we didn't have laptops.

Really, for a laptop or keyboard, this is priceless. I use one with my keyboard and mouse.

I'm still waiting for the snow.

But don't get me started on writing when I was a kid...

I was honestly a little disappointed since I bought based off of reviews. It doesn't cool as well as the reviews stated and I had to take sandpaper and do some touch up to the drill holes are they were a little rough and snagging on my clothing. I would like the cell phone stand holder better if it had a cord access hole out the back so I could use while plugged in. I do like the size and the mouse pad.

I purchased the lap desk due to an upcoming road trip and the prior frustration of trying to keep the computer on my lap. As I type this, I am in the passenger seat and have been working on it for the past 6 hours. I could not be happier! This desk is everything I wanted in the most simple package. It's the perfect size, I don't even notice the weight and the mouse pad is a must. The cell phone holder is a great bonus and the fact that my legs aren't on fire is incredible! Thank you for such a great product!!
