I ordered the "Porter" colored opener which is depicted as a solid dark color, however the opener I received was lighter and had the stripes, looking exactly like the "Pilsner" color. The packaging had a sticker marked "Porter", so not sure what the deal is with that other than it didn't arrive looking like I expected. I didn't feel like dealing with any sort of exchange and it still looks pretty cool so I just went with it. I mounted this to the wall, but where I wanted it had no studs nearby. So, I had to go out and buy drywall anchors since they weren't included. Actually, I wasn't even sure if it is recommended to mount this opener with drywall anchors since there are literally no directions included with this opener other than a simple diagram showing to switch out the screw that hold the metal opener part to the longer screws to be used for wall mounting. I even checked their website but it provided no additional answers for wall mounting. Soooo, I hoped for the best and just purchased some hefty rating anchors (rated to hold 143lbs, since I didn't want to get too weak of anchors and eventually have the whole thing rip out of the wall). So far so good, as I've had this hanging for about a week, it has had plenty of use, and it's still snugly adhered to the wall. I've never used a mounted opener before so the first few beers it was a bit unnerving, as you reall have to tilt them very horizontally and I was worried they would spill out all over when the cap came off. Well, they don't, so I got over that pretty quick. Overall I recommend but just be aware that the finish you ordered based on the photo may not be the finish you receive.

I was skeptical of all the positive reviews, but I have to say this thing is awesome. Very nice looking, well made, with a very strong magnetic field. A novelty item that is actually functional and worth the price!

Love it, love it! Actually I gave these as gifts this past Christmas to all the men in the family... and we loved it so much, I had to have one myself. It is super looking; my wood piece is a little lighter in color than the one shown, but with nice darker wood grain. We have ours on the side of the fridge, so I did not install or use the screws that were enclosed. It did, however, have tiny little rubber feet to stick on the back to protect the surface. The magnet is so strong, it takes 2 hands to pull it off. And the bottle caps...you can literally hold one a few inches away and feel the pull!. Great gadget, and fun...best of all I will no longer have a drawer full of bottle caps, as my family opens the bottle over the drawer and lets it drop in. And they are convinced I want to save all those caps! get one of these fun openers! And I got NO discount or freebies on this item.

I ordered this for my husband for Christmas since we saw it at a friend's house and loved the concept. Unfortunately, the first item I received had a noticeable chip in the corner of the wood, plus the mounting screws were missing. Thankfully I am a Prime member, so I was able to re-order the item and return the defective one at no additional cost ... just lost time and a disappointing gift. I deducted 1 star for the lack of Quality Control and hassle on my end.

That said, this seems to be a high-quality product. The wood is smooth with a nice, rich stain. My husband plans to mount this to the wall in the garage, so I'll update my review, if necessary, once it's put to good use.

Slightly damaged,possibly in shipping; great customer service replaced item

The corner of the product was slightly damaged, along with the area that the caps reside. The air filled plastics cushioning the inner box were deflated, which might have caused the inner box and therefore the product to be damaged. However, it still works great--opens bottles with ease and strong magnet catches the caps. We put it on our fridge, and were afraid that it might be hard to use (like could fall easily while using it), but the magnets are super strong and stays put! Good product!

Update: They replaced my damaged product free of charge. Very prompt and courteous customer service. Better than I've encountered in a long time!

This is one great bottle opener! I was debating whether to mount this on a wall or on my fridge since I was wary how strong the magnet would be. However my worries disappeared once I tested it on the fridge. The magnet attached to the fridge like glue. No matter how many bottles I popped, this bottle opener refused to budge. Also love the fact that the magnet plays double duty by also catching all the bottle caps. It hasn't missed or dropped one yet! More importantly, it's a stylish tool and complements any kitchen. Despite being displayed prominently on a fridge, it's not an eyesore and if anything, accents any kitchen with style. My only caution is to make sure you hold the bottle by the base and not the neck when opening your bottles. With such strong magnets, that cap flies off and your hand may get hit. I actually don't know why someone would hold it by the neck, but my one friend did but it's easy to not do that. Highly recommend this bottle opener!

I was given a specific task, read: get me "THIS" for Christmas... A very cool, totally unique, garage/mancave bottle opener... In and out of store after store, Google shopping searching for countless... Minutes?! Could it be? DropCatch landed in my lap and there was no other to compare. Ordered from Amazon (prime helped get it here faster), delivered Christmas Eve, and enthusiastically unwrapped Christmas morning. Rave reviews from the old man, and the ONLY mistake I made was not including a bottle of beer to try it out. He's thrilled, I'm thrilled, and though I have to wait to see it in action, I didn't have to wait to see it- already mounted on the wall!

Totally beautiful, mostly sturdy!

Finally, I don't have to find the wine-cork-thing or my key ring to open up beer bottles for myself and my friends. This is a totally elegant and useful tool to stick on the fridge, and it's gotten a lot of compliments. It gets four stars for reasons that don't bother me but might bother other people: 1. the magnet on the back that is in place to catch the bottle caps is kind of sloppily glued in there. If it ever pops out, it wouldn't be a difficult chore to glue back in. 2. The magnet that holds it to your fridge is strong, but it's not atomic-strong. You can't exert a neanderthal-amount of pressure on the opener, or the whole wood plaque will shift upwards and knock your other fridge adornments onto the floor. With responsible/regular use, this isn't a problem-- you can open bottles one-handed/you don't need to "hold" it in place.

In summary: buy this one, it's worth the money.

Weak Magnet

I bought this last christmas as a gift for my boyfriend. He LOVES the idea of it but the magnet is just too weak and we're in a place where we can't utilize the wall-mount option. It just slides all over the place when you're trying to open your bottle, it takes much longer than a typical bottle opener should. It looks great and the bottle-catch works so I'd love to give it more stars but it just does not adhere to the fridge the way it should, we'll have to look for another option.

Sleek and Strong

This thing is great! Quality made product with all the necessary hardware included, and the strength of the magnet is incredible. I didn't expect to have such a hard time pulling off the demonstration cap they send with the bottle opener. Before I bought this I thought, "I could make this why am I buying it?", then I thought about the time it would take and how there wasn't much time left before Christmas. When I opened it up and looked it over, I quickly realized that there was no way I could have made something that would have competed with the quality and beauty of this product.

If you have a bar in your home or business this piece will quickly become the center of attention and will spark up a conversation for sure. We have a bet as to how many bottle caps this thing will hold before it can no longer hold anymore, the website says it can hold 60 but we're betting on more. Apparently, they even have an ultra magnet that holds up to 140 bottle caps.

You won't be disappointed!
