These only work for a short time making them too expensive for the amount of usefulness.

I have bought several of these over the years. At first I was in love with these. I bought them both directly from their website (which is less expensive but also takes way longer) and from Amazon. I had no problem with these for a while, the only complaint that I had was that they seemed to not last for very long. They'd work effectively for a few months but then I'd have to order them again. Over the last few months I have had to order them again. I bought several (both from here and the website) so that I could have several at a time. It appeared to me that the material had changed a little, it seemed like thinner and slightly stretchier material throughout the underwear. The charcoal filter pad also seemed slightly thinner but I wasn't sure about it. I tried them and they seemed to work but this time they seemed to stop working in quite quickly in rapid succession. I think it mostly happens after washing although I am very careful when washing them and hand wash them using only baking soda. I called to complain the after I bought the previous pair directly from the website. The customer service agent said that there were absolutely no changes to the underwear. She suggested that perhaps I was not washing or drying them correctly. There were two things that she said might have been the cause of what I was saying. One was that I started wearing underwear under the briefs (which I mostly try to buy but they were not in stock when I ordered the pair that I am reviewing) because since I am a woman I was worried that any discharge I was having might be contributing to them not lasting as long as I thought they should. She said that it needs to be worn without them to make sure that the gas is absorbed into the charcoal pad. Next she said that I should not be hanging them to dry but that I should be putting them in the dryer to make sure that they dry completely before re-wearing. I felt neither of these quite made sense but felt that I should at least consider that maybe I was doing something wrong since they had worked for me before. I did not order anymore for several months because they are very expensive and I cannot afford to spend money on something that isn't going to work for me. Below I will describe why I gave this product only 3 stars, for now I will explain why I need the product. I don't have a medical diagnosis yet but I believe that some food may not be digesting completely in my tract, the food then stays in the tract and starts to ferment which causes a gas. For me it is not a methane or sulfur odor but mostly similar to farts that smell like kale but it can vary occasionally. I need these underwear because I work in customer service and I have gas on an almost constant basis. It isn't a type of gas that can be controlled but more like a small but steady release of air throughout the day. Sometimes I actually feel it building, other times I have no sensation at all but the smell is still there. Since it isn't something I can control I cannot, as most people suggest, just go into the bathroom or private space to release it, especially since it happens so frequently.

Now onto the review, as above I accepted what the customer service agent said until I tried this last new pair. Here are my objections on why I don't think that I am doing anything wrong in regards to this product.
- Wearing underwear under these cause them not to work:

This doesn't fit because as I thought back to wearing the first of these products and I am female, I remembered wearing these while on my period. I wore underwear and a pad under these and had no problem since the underwear were smaller. Other people have reported wearing underwear under these successfully.
- Hanging them to dry means that they aren't drying properly.

I had hung some to dry but I'd also dried them in the dryer. Either way seemed fine, the dryer is faster but I had started hanging them more often because I was afraid that using the dryer might be why they aren't lasting as long.
- other concerns:

perhaps it is that I am female and sometimes have discharge and that clogs the filter however, they seemed to last longer when I first wore them than they do now.

perhaps I'm not supposed to use baking soda for washing, the website claims you can use it to wash them, if that isn't the case then how come they recommend it and how can I wash them otherwise?

perhaps these only filter certain types of fart odors but not others, I feel like the underwear I bought a month ago mostly work but in cases where I occasionally have more offensive types of gas like sulfur smell they seem to not be working properly. But, this didn't seem to be a problem with the first packs of underwear I ordered.

So, my conclusion is that while these underwear do work, I do believe that they have changed the product (possibly to make them more affordable to produce so they can make more money) making them with either a more inferior fabric and/or making the carbon/charcoal filter thinner. I am ordering another pair just to test out the difference between briefs since those are the kind I normally buy and I think they work better for my body shape. However, I don't think that my recent unhappy experience with these are due to size or fit since I have tried several of these over the last few years both types and from both Amazon and the official website. I have tried it from both only because Amazon ships way faster and if I feel the effectiveness of a pair is wearing out then I might need another pair quite quickly.

My suggestion to the company would be to increase the effectiveness of this product by reverting back to the original design. The only other factor that I can think of that would affect this is the frequency of use. While occasionally I have ordered a 3 pack directly from the website I cannot always afford to do that and one pair might last me a month or less. I suggest that they lower the price of these underwear so I can buy more and be able to switch between them more often. Think about the normal cost of underwear, I could get enough underwear for a week for less than $10. For these I have to pay three or four times that much for one pair. I am paying for these because I really need them but I don't see how I can continue to be a customer when the price is so high and the returns on my investment are so low.

The filter works, but how the heck are you supposed to wash them?
by Rita's Mommy (3 out of 5 stars)

First of all, it's not super fun to even need these underwear, but I'm so glad they exist. They work - it's great. My biggest complaint is how many pairs I have had to buy because every time I wash them (and I follow the recommended washing guidelines) they lose their filtering capability. Seriously, I've bought like 5 pairs of these. I know...sad... But I really wish they would make the carbon pad removable so that I could just wash the exterior panty and then reinsert the filter afterward!! They do fit a little on the small side. I am usually a medium in underwear, but I find the medium in these pretty tight. I know it's supposed to be a snug fit to filter the smell, but I wear them at night and I don't like feeling pinched in. The price has gone up over time - probably because they are one of the few products of their kind. The newest ones I purchased have the carbon pad stitched in even more intensely than the old version. Would recommend, but be very careful (and creative?) in how you wash them or they won't work anymore.

Love my GAS MASK panties
by Bellafelice (5 out of 5 stars)

These undies did the trick for my nasty gassiness. I have been eating a lot of fibrous foods, like beans, and consequently have a lot of gas. As this is a noxious problem with the hubby, I got these. they remedied the problem immediately. It is an amazing and easy fix for my severe flatulence problem. Some people may laugh at the need for these, but for those of us who suffer from recurrent gas problems they are a life saver. I highly recommend to any ladies out there with the same problem.

I'm so happy I bought these!

This is a miracle product. It actually works! I bought a large in low rise but probably should have gotten the non-low rise as it sits pretty low in the back on me and the elastic doesn't lie flat in all positions and it needs to to be 100% effective. That's my own issue though- I will buy the other style to accommodate my particular shape. I absolutely LOVE these though. I'm never wearing anything else again.

THEY WORK
by Kristin Tomson (5 out of 5 stars)

That's all you need to know. This is my third pair. I bought the first when they were only available in the UK, and they ran very small. The US versions fit as expected. Read the details enclosed in the box, especially the washing instructions. If you have IBS or common digestive issues, can't eat your favorite foods, or stay home because it smells like something crawled inside you and died, try a pair of these. They are especially great for traveling, and I wear a pair to bed every night so I can truly relax without alienating and horrifying my bedmate.

Good for a backup

I layer these by getting a snug size and putting one size larger on top of it. How well do they work? Nothing is 100%. It's a backup for when diet and lifestyle changes are not enough. They give me more confidence on important occasions or in tight quarters. My only issue is that even with weekly hand-washing (with baking soda) they do wear out or tear around the seams in 6 months to a year. That's a little too soon for the price.

Good product.

I THINK these are helping with odor control. My perception is that its not as noticeable. my only complaint is that the seat is not quite full enough, and they ride up. Extra washing care instructions are a bit tedious, but they are a specialty item, so that did not detract from my rating.

These must be paid reviews, because these stupid underwear do not work at all. Thanks for scamming a desperate woman out of $41.
