I am admittedly a pictachioholic (especially the sea salt and pepper!). I feel cheated when I have some that I just can't get open, but I have annihilated my thumbnails (Ow!) and not willing to crack teeth (again). A nutcracker is just too much - like using a jackhammer to open a jar of pickles...but I digress. So I do what many people do in this information age - I Google 'pistachio nutcracker'. I found plastic things, things with springs, and a tiny little USB jack hammer...okay, I lied about the jackhammer. Then I saw this one. Clean, simple, metal, no parts to fly off or replace and easy to clean.
I love this thing. Now I can eat every last pistachio. Even when I get a cruddy one that leaves a horrible taste in my mouth.
A pistachio opening tool that really works!

This pistachio opener works great! I was tired of breaking nails trying to open pistachio nuts, so I decided to give this tool a try. If you hold onto the nut with one hand and pinch the shell where the opening is with the other hand on the tool, you won't lose control and end up with nuts on the floor. I read a few complaints from other reviewers about that happening. All it takes is a little practice, and you can use the tool without the nuts flying around. This was a good purchase at a reasonable price.

I got tired of messing up my nails just to have a pistachio. This tool gets the job done and it's kinda fun to use. I will say this, it should be priced no higher than $5 as it is neither super sturdy nor worth more than that. The metal isn't very thick, but it does work. I bought it to save my nails, otherwise I would have left it. If the price gets lowered, I believe a lot more sales will occur.
This is one of those products that you don't realize you need I your life until you get one.

I got one for my Dad for Father's Day because he loves pistachios. This was actually going to be a sort of gag-gift, because I mean, how hard is it to crack a pistachio, right?
But, my god, this thing is actually pretty dang cool. Not only did it make opening pistachios 100% easier and faster, but it even opened the difficult ones! (You know, the ones that have the tiniest little hole in them?) it just popped the tough ones open no-problemo.
My Dad LOVES this thing. I swear he eats more pistachios than he used to now, haha.
Overall, it was well-packaged, it's easy to hold and use, and it does its job with flying colors.
Great little gift

Bought this along with a pistachio bowl for my husband for Father's Day from the kiddos. I was on the fence because of some of the reviews (and price), but I am really glad I bought it. It is quality made and sturdy. We have used it a long while now and haven't had any issues with it bending out of shape. It also cracks open the only-slightly-opened nuts that are almost otherwise wasted. It was a good buy.
My thumb nails Thank U !!!!

My thumb nails were really taking a beating trying to open up the slightly opened pistachios. I have to thank the inventor of this tool, because it really works. Now the price of said tool is a different story. I went on youtube to research this product first before I bought it because of the price. After watching the video and understanding that it is American made I can now understand why the mark up on this product. I believe a 10.00 price range would be more palatable to more people. Even after watching the youtube video, when first receiving the product I was unimpressed with how the opener felt in my hands. But after trying the unit out on several small split pistachios I was more than pleased with the unit. Just a reminder that this unit doesn't split totally closed pistachios, nor do they recommend you even eating them.
This product does takes practice to get good with it

A rather spendy product. It does work, but so does a small jeweler's screwdriver - insert in the crack and twist. This product does takes practice to get good with it.
Pistachio Opener......where have you been all my life?!

I eat a lot of pistachios and was frustrated that I couldn't eat about 10% of the bag because I couldn't get the shells open. This tool is all metal and does the job fairly easily. It feels plenty sturdy for this task and is dishwasher safe. It's probably overpriced, but was the best option I could find to enjoy my whole bags of pistachios.
This Little Tool Works Like a Champ...However,

Ordered this yesterday and it arrived today (Prime). There's no doubt, this little tool works like a champ. I've only used it on 4 or 5 nuts, but it performs as advertised. (note: there does need to be a crack in the shell to get the tip inside for this to work). I'd like to get another one for work, but $16.99 each??...Really?? 2 OR 3 For $16.99 maybe . Works Great...Highly Recommended , but I question the price.
Make up for saying I never received product.

I had problems receiving my pistachio opener & therefore gave it an unfavorable review. It was a problem on my end, not theirs. Anyway, it is a wonderful utensil that really works - & saves your fingernails too!! Congratulations on making something that is really useful!!
