I have to come clean with you, I'm 65 years old and I didn't buy this toy for a child or grandchild, I bought it for myself. That was eight weeks ago and frankly, I'm hooked. So much so that I checked out the Foreverspin.com website, where there are many more to choose from, in a variety of materials, including copper, bronze, cast iron and sleek black zirconium to name a few.

The top is among the world's oldest toys and they're not just for kids anymore. Each one of these little things is simple, elegant, timeless, enchanting and impossible to ignore. I keep my collection in the kitchen where they'll be seen and spun. I love watching people's faces light up when they give one a try.

They might not spin forever (you knew that, right?), but they spin for a long time. Long enough for me to forget that I even spun one, only to be reminded when I hear it clatter to a stop. Spinning these tops is both soothing and challenging at the same time. Even at rest, they are individual works of art. How rare is that?

Does not spin very long

Sure, it looks like the top from Inception, but that is all it has going. It is lightweight and durable, however it's spin duration is pathetic by comparison to other tops which are much cheaper. If you have the spinning basin which is designed to maximize spin time, I think you will have better results, but considering the fact that you can buy a top for 12$ which spins for roughly twice the duration of this one without requiring such peripherals, I think this is a rip off.

It looks cool, and if that's what you want, then by all means buy it, but if you want something that spins for a long time, look elsewhere.

There is no arguing that this is a lot of money for a top. That said, not only is it gorgeous and the workmanship impeccable it is fun! Over the last 24 hours my 6 year old and I have been practicing and competing against each other. We are having so much fun that I sprung for a bronze one for him. After reading the reviews here and online you get what you pay for. This will not bend or break if it falls or gets dropped. This is a GREAT TOY to get back to the simple pleasures with.

As with the other Foreverspin tops, the quality is magnificent. It is deceptively light. It is, exactly as they say, easier to spin well at all, but harder to make it spin for a long time. I can frequently spin my bronze Foreverspin for 3.5+ minutes. It's tough to beat 1.5 mins with this one, although I've gone past 2 minutes a couple of times.

I don't really have anything negative to say about this one. The reason I'm giving it a 4 instead of a 5 is because it isn't what I wanted. I would have preferred that the aluminum or magnesium ones were available here - I was being impetuous, I just wanted a light one to contrast to the heavier bronze one I have, and I wanted free 2-day shipping. The fact that it's incredibly strong is irrelevant, this isn't a use where strength matters. Personally I don't get excited about using exotic materials in situations where their special characteristics don't matter.

For a while I was dreaming this would be a nice object to hold and to play with.

It's hard to spin properly. Spins for under 70 seconds. Mine wobbles all the time, even on granite, quartz or glass surfaces.

It fell to the ground and its tip got a little flattened. Now it wobbles even more.

Expensive gizmo. Questionable long term value as a toy or collectible.

This top was smaller than I expected. For some reason I pictured it as about an inch and a half in diameter or a bit bigger. It is small, only about an inch in diameter. But it spins amazingly well. The first time I tried it went 2 minutes and 52 seconds on our kitchen counter. I have not been able to get more than 3 and 1/2 minutes so far, but it is fun.

A year ago I bought a dinky little metal top for my husband as a stocking stuffer. It was one of those "inception" ones. My husband is so particular with gifts that all I can do is buy stuff and cross my fingers for luck. I was beyond surprised that he LOVED that dumb little top. He carried that around for months and would play with it constantly when we were at restaurants etc. it eventually got lost and after he learned about the forever spin tops he has always wanted one since. This top feels and spins great. I'm not sure what people are expecting with these tops as they obviously don't spin forever... but it spins longer than the dinky one we bought and that one honestly spun for a long time too. In my opinion the price on these are for the metals used to make the tops and for how nice they look. Sure they perform well too but just because you buy this top doesn't mean it will be the top to end all tops. Gravity still works people. It's worth it to me to have a quality top that will look really nice sitting on a shelf or while being played with. It feels great inside your hand and makes a nice fidget toy as well. Overall happy with the purchase and would recommend.

This s my first spinning top. Got a titanium top, the base, spinning base and a glass lens. When I received the package first I was amazed by gorgeous and appealing packaging. Each piece was in its own box and a cloth bag with an elegant logo. This was just the intro what I was going to get by opening items. All three items, especially the black base and the titanium spinning top are of exquisite quality and beauty. Just stunning. After few minutes of practicing I made the top spin and enjoy its magnificence and grace. As soon as I finish this review I will order few more spinning tops. I am Amazon regular and long-term customer. This is one of the classiest and best quality products I ever purchased on this site. Paolo
