Product Description

The RearViz SL-15 is the Slim Line edition of the RearViz Mirror. Whether you're dodging busy traffic commuting to work or riding in a group, the RearViz mirror gives cyclists a virtual pair of eyes on the back of their heads. The Slim Line RearViz is lightweight and half the size of the Sports and Classic styles, making it suitable for riders with slimmer arms. My review is updated - was Impossible to wear as it is depicted in the pictures
by Tom (4 out of 5 stars)

I changed my review from a one to a four because I've figured out where to wear this on my arm to get some use out of it. I found that if you move it to the middle of your forearm - the "meatiest" part of it and twist it out slightly to the side you can get a good rear view. I do maintain though that if the designer added a ball joint to the mirror then it would be a five star product- because in conjunction with the rotating bezel then you could really adjusted to any position. So at this point I would recommend it however I would not wear it as shown in the pictures - my picture below shows you how to position the mirror on your arm.

No unrealistic expectations

This is just what I needed. I first looked for a helmet mirror, but was really apprehensive about a blind spot in my line of vision. So I shopped and read lots of feedback about alternatives and was excited to try this.

A few reviews complained about the trouble of having to look "clear down to the elbow or arm to view the mirror" (sigh - 1st world problems). Come ON, can you not be troubled to use your side mirrors when driving a car, or are you chauffeured? More complained about the mirror shaking. Yeah. If it's strapped to the same arm that is leaning on a shaking handlebar, guess what mirror is going to shake! It's not an artificial intelligence to make up for user ineptness. The size is clearly stated in the item description. If you're curious about what that looks like on your arm, hold something comparable by your elbow and consider how small things will look in a mirror that size. Yup. They're small.

On the angle view - the wider your shoulders are than where your hands rest on the handlebars, the higher up you're going to have to put the mirror on your arm. For me, with drop handlebars and riding on the hoods, I wear it right below the bend of my elbow. Just tweaking my elbow a little gives me a perfect view of what's coming alongside. I can see car lights before they're right up on me, IF I'm watching the mirror. The thing is, I don't ride along with my eyes on the mirror all the time, or I'd wreck. I do check it often, especially if I'm going to turn or dodge a hole, etc.

The band is very comfortable. On my bare arm, the two velcro straps come together on the back side (about 9.5" circumference), so my arm could be a LOT bigger. The side of the band that I undo to take the mirror off (or put it on) is soft and has that tiny, less obnoxious kind of velcro.

I recommend this and am glad I tried it! Go ahead, and just don't expect it to do your laundry, dishes, & take out the trash. It's a great idea to not give you a blind spot from a helmet mirror.

Useless to dangerous
by Kevin (1 out of 5 stars)

Not wanting to put a Third Eye mirror on my new helmet, I looked around for other options and found this.

If you wear it on your wrist, the image is too small, especially given that it has a wide-angle mirror. So it's pretty much useless in that regard -- perhaps even dangerous, as you won't see a car that is not yet upon you (but is about to be).

If you wear it on your upper arm, you have to take your eyes too far off of the road to see the mirror. Might as well turn your head and look.

I rarely return anything. But since this is rather pricey for something that seriously fails to do its intended purpose, I tried to return it. Unfortunately the manufacturer doesn't allow returns of opened packages. I quote:
"If your products are in the original, unopened condition you received them in, you can post it back to the below address and we will issue you with a refund as soon as we receive the products back. Although we do not usually accept returns for 'change of mind' purchases, if your product hasn't been opened, we are happy for you to send it back."

And you'd have to send it to Australia from whence it came (took about 3 weeks to receive?)

It's like someone thought they had a great idea and put it into production, but it's actually a horrible idea. Yet the manufacturer keeps selling it.

I will be purchasing yet another Third Eye Pro mirror. They work very well. I just didn't want to install one on my new Bell Super 3R helmet. Doesn't seem right.

This really works!

This is a great product, much superior to the handlebar, glasses or helmet mirrors which I have also tried. It can be strapped to either arm and adjusted in several plains. The view is wide angle and very clear. The only improvement I would make is to add a pad to the base so as to be more friendly to the skin. But as I stated, this is a great product!

This mirror is COOL, if you wear it right (between elbow and bicep muscle for maximum "outboard view"). It does the job "without the view all over the place from erratic steering that handlebar mount mirrors cause". It should come with a second extra longer strap for wearing over a jacket though. (but I can make one).

Mirror

Objects are closer than they seem is right . You can look and see nothing and within less than a minute cars roll up on you. During the day cars are invisible till they are very close . At night it is great because of head lights .
I am going to replace the mirror with a standard mirror because I love the concept of this mirror it is just not suitable with the mirror it comes with .

Does the work really well.
by Luis (5 out of 5 stars)

Pros:
-wide field of view
-easy to use and adjust to your wrist or arm
-have a good quality velcro
-the mirror does not move because have rubber to keep the friction(work even in bumpy rides)

Cons:
-The strap can be potentially uncomfortable for long periods of time.
-because of the nature of the mirror (wide field of view) is difficult to estimate distances

Great when riding with kids
by Wufflebear (5 out of 5 stars)

I use this mostly when riding with kids, so i can see them... and yell at them if they are drifting into the lane again. We do longer rides on country roads. Kids will be kids though and eventually not stay quite as far to the side as mama would like. So, bought the mirror and now the eyes in the back of my head are more powerful than ever. lol

Works as advertised

I ordered this some time ago, and have been using it since. First, nothing is better than direct vision, and there are a lot of reviews unhappy about how small items appear in the mirror, but it is enough to alert you before you turn your head to get a direct view, so for me, it works perfectly.

Cool design, and works
by JDM4006 (4 out of 5 stars)

I like this concept. My only problem is that I bought this so I could see my friends and how far they are behind me. With this mirror, you can only see what's right up on you, coming close to you, or about to pass you. Everything else seems far away like a fish eye lense. I recommend putting a "objects appear closer" mirrors so I can see a little ways behind me. I wouldn't mind a bigger mirror at all for as light as it is. Well compact too.
