This is the best, and brightest, light up AND reflective harness I have purchased. This harness allows me to clearly see where my dog is in the backyard at night as well as on walks near busy street. The price might seem high compared to other light up harnesses available on Amazon, but don't let that get in the way of your pets safety. These are rechargeable and washable. The quality is on point!

I have bought the typical orange and yellow neon reflective vests in the past for my dogs, with the reflective piping built into them, but they do not compare to this.

The neon colors are bright and easy to see at night. The harness has the ability to flash at different speeds and with different colors for optimal visibility of your pet. There is neon yellow reflective fabric on both sides of the harness accompanied by reflective silver trim all around. Even if the lights run out of charge on the harness, your dog will still be visible when light is shined on them. Yay!

I purchased two larges - one for a lab / Rottweiler and one for a Bernese Mountain dog. They fit well and are at their smallest adjustment for the neck strap with a little bit of wiggle room - I'm glad I didn't get the medium even though their measurements suggested that would be the appropriate size.

Note: This harness is not a substitute for a collar. There is no hook to attach a leash and I wouldn't recommend using it to attach any kind of lead.

Nearly Perfect

We bought this as a Christmas present to our 60-pound boxer-bulldog mix. She's very energetic, and we take her to the North Georgia mountains to see my parents (they're on 30 acres of wooded land). This is perfect for letting her out at night especially, where we could often hear her running, but couldn't see her. Fit was very versatile. Size "large" fits a big range of "large" dogs -- my big-chested, small-necked boxer can use this just as well as my parents' fat-necked, round-chested weimaraners.

So why only 4 stars? It needs the following 2 improvements:
- The main issue is that this is not a harness; it's simply a lighted vest. There's no way to clip a leash to it, and it's not built sturdy enough to actually control your dog. It's exactly as advertised ("illuminated, reflective dog vest"), but it has room for improvement (perhaps a future version). As is, you can't actually control your dog with this; you need another collar/harness of sorts, as this is strictly a lighted vest. I'd be willing to pay an extra $20 to have this integrated into a harness so that I don't need both a harness *and* this vest.
- The USB cable to charge the vest is great, but there's no power block to plug it into the wall. You'll either need a computer with a spare USB port or some other device that has the block to charge this. As most people have a cell phone that has a power plug + USB cable, you could use one of those to charge the vest. I'm probably fussing over a non-issue, as I have plenty of power blocks around from other phones/gadgets, but it's worth noting, in case you're less technologically advanced

It's like a party on a leash

This is my first Amazon review. I got this and the Tracer360 Visibility Vest for my husband for Christmas. We have an active German Shepherd/Golden Retriever cross who loves to walk. He's 85 pounds, and I got an XL, which adjusts to fit him perfectly. He gets walked early AM when it's dark, and later in the evening, again when it's dark. These products are really well made, and my husband enjoys the setting that slowly changes color. It's like a party on a leash! Someone's already asked where he got it, and another yelled out a car window driving by: "I like your style!" Thank you Noxgear. (Note - I paid full price and was not approached to do a review. I'm just seriously excited about this product)

Overall, this lighted harness is pretty awesome. I have two of them (size small) for my dogs (12lb Bichon, and 15 lb lhasa apso/terrier mix). I purchased them after my Bichon wandered off through the neighborhood after a snow storm. My biggest objective was adding some safety visability to him. As a side note, the harness fits snuggly over their Foggy Mountain jackets.

For better effectiveness, I had to trim the Bichon's hair because the harness would sink into his thick fur and effect the visability from the front.

The only minor downside is that the power button does double duty as the mode button. This means its very easy to change the mode instead of turning it off and you have cycle through all 14 modes to get back to your favoriate one.

Overall, I would definitely recommend.

Where has this been all my life??!!

I wish I had bought three of these just so I could give them away to doggy friends. They are amazing. Probably the BEST dog light I have ever bought. Kiska and I are avid adventurers, both running, hiking and camping. The large fits well around my 75 pound lab mix, and with her medium long fur you can still see the light when she is coming towards and away from you, not just from the side like most lights. It is VERY bright, and I love the ease of a USB mini charger instead of fiddling with batteries. I like the choice of light colors, but I stick with red because it doesn't kill night vision like a bright green or pink (not gonna lie, I LOVE the pink). Kiska is a roller, and the Light Hound did just fine being crushed in hard and soft snow. Although, she did manage to change the color of her Light Hound, so that was funny. I haven't taken it out in the rain yet, but living in SE Alaska, I'm sure we will have plenty of rainy night adventures in our future. Man, I am just so happy a friend randomly sent me a link for this on facebook, probably one of the best dog purchases I have made this year.

THE INVENTORS ARE BRILLIANT!!

The LightHound Dog Vest is one of the best investments I have ever made for my pups. I work the overnight shift from home so I walk my two dogs several times a night in the dark. I have been stalking this invention for months but was weary to make the investment because of the price. I wanted to wait until I saw more reviews and I am so glad that we finally decided to go for it! It was worth every penny!!

We live in a rural community in Maine and there are not a lot of street lights, it is dark more often than light this time of year and the weather is crazy with low visibility. When they are wearing their LightHounds I can walk with confidence knowing that my pups can be seen and can breathe a sigh of relief as I watch the cars move over and slow way down to make room for us much more than ever before even with the blinking leashes we had.

The batteries last over 12 hours with the fast blinking mode between charges and the charge time is only a couple of hours.

I don't attach their leashes directly to the harness because they both pull like crazy when they see cats, leaves, dust bunnies, etc. I attach their leashes to their regular harnesses and put the LightHound over their heavy duty harness.

We haven't had any problems with slippage on the harness and both adjusted nicely to fit the girls. Our Shadow dog is thick around the waist with a small neck so I was a little worried but there are separte adjustments so we were able to get the perfect fit.

There has not been one person walking by us that hasn't commented on how amazing the harness is and how well they can see us. We have literally had cars stop while driving by to ask where we got them so that they could order one for their dogs and a police officer patrolling stopped to talk with us the other night saying how impressed he was with your product. He said that he could see us from quite a far distance away and had never seen anything like the LightHound.

I have not been paid and did not receive any kind of discount for writing this review. We have had the harnesses for a month now and I walk them around 2 hours total per day. I will be uploading a video soon to show their harnesses in action. I highly recommend this product.

So awesome! Thank you #noxgear. I just moved to a new part of town and I walk my dogs along a busy road early in the morning before sun up and at night after sun down. Even though the sidewalk is separated from the road by a drainage channel (about five feet) vehicles on the road are moving at a good pace. After one of my dogs decided to use the walkway side of the channel as a bathroom stop and a passing car gave me a honk I figured it was time to increase our visibility. I did some research and chose #noxgear because I was impressed with other reviews and I wanted something that could hold up to the weather and was rechargeable.

The harnesses have preformed fantastically. Both of my Pugs were not hesitant to wear them and they weren't affected by the fact they are lit up. I feel more safe for both them and myself because drivers on the road can see us from a long way off. I have noticed that in many occasions drivers actually decelerate a bit as they get closer to us. This is safety for us and the drivers at its best. Thanks #noxgear. Also when I sent some video to my mom she was so impressed she bought one for her dog. I highly recommend this product and I think it would be great for so many situations.

In the picture I attached you can see one of my dogs is jet black. If not for #noxgear you wouldn't have even known he was there at nighttime.

Bright and visible!

I like the way the power pack of this harness lights up and sticks up off the back of my dog. It makes him much more visible. Also, the strips that light up than run down his body, along the sides of the harness, make him visible from all sides. The reflective strips are also very bright and visible when hit by lights. My dog doesn't have an issue wearing the harness, he doesn't seem to even notice he has it on. I still use his collar to attach his leash.

When I purchased the harness I didn't realize it was machine washable. I haven't tried it yet, but a very nice feature.

Very impressed with the quality of this harness. Happy with my purchase.

Update- I moved this to 5 stars bc I love this harness. It's so bright and I get complements on it all the time. It's still more expensive than it should be, but they don't have any competition for the quality. I have purchased another for my second dog. Bonus, their customer service is superb! I highly recommend and haven't had any problems with falling apart since the first defective one. Love my light hound!

I purchased this item on Black Friday because it was down to $49.99. I still thought it was really expensive- but I run and walk a lot at night with my dog and I want to make sure that she is safe. I received the item and was disappointed with the design. It seems like it can really only be used as a vest and not so much a harness for walking (my dog can pull sometimes so she needs a harness that works as a harness). I received an email from Simon- one of the designers of the harness asking how I liked the product. I told him that I liked it (I LOVE how bright it is, how cool it is, and how there's TONS of choices between solid colors and different patterns of changing colors that you can choose from- that part is awesome). I also expressed that I thought it was really way too expensive. Especially considering you can buy LED collars for dogs on Amazon for around $5. Then I told him that I was also disappointed that it couldn't be used as a harness itself- and for the price- at the very minimum it should function as a harness too. Simon got back to me almost immediately and reassured me that yes, it could be used as a harness. The design team made up of engineers had tested it to hold up to 350 pounds. He also stated that the cost purely came from the materials used and they were all high end materials that came from the U.S. I still feel it's too expensive- but ok. I then started to use the harness without my dog's own harness underneath this one (so I was just using the LightHound). At first it was working well and I was surprised because my dog pulled less on this harness than she did her own. After about 18 times of using it though, I was out for an evening walk and the harness broke. The stitching that held one of the clips came undone and rendered the harness totally useless. I was extremely frustrated at this point- especially considering I was out with my dog when this happened. Luckily she was ok with just having the leash on her collar. I emailed Simon and expressed my frustration that he had assured me the harness would function as a harness and that it didn't- it broke after 18 uses. Simon got back to me and apologized and offered to replace the harness.

So the harness is not without it's flaws. A) It's super pricey- even when on sale. B) The stitching can come undone- maybe I just had a dud one (let's hope!) But something to look out for. I do still really love the brightness of the harness. I feel like $34.99 would be a much more reasonable price for it though.

It seems a bit expensive, and I was apprehensive about buying it, but almost a year later I still absolutely love it! I am no longer worried that my dog will sneak away if she is off the leash, or that a car will not see her. In addition, it seems to make her look a lot less threatening to people as well, as they don't get surprised by her just appearing near them. We get lots of compliments on how cute it looks, and how easy it is to see us. The lights are bright, and depending on conditions you can change colors (I prefer slowly changing colors for dark nights, solid red for fog, and sharply blinking lights for side of a busy road). It is also quite durable, and I haven't had any problems containing the dog while she is absolutely determined to charge after a small animal. I use it for every walk, so my dog has swam with it on plenty of times, mostly in creeks and dog park ponds, but certainly enough to expose it to water. Because of where the charger port is located, it never goes underwater in a natural dog swimming way. I also happen to really like the color of the harness itself, people seem to associate it with a working dog harness and are much more relaxed in the interactions. I also wrote my phone number across it, with a sharpie, so now if she runs away, anyone can get the number by simply snapping a picture and reading it later, no need to catch the dog and look at the tags which some people are just afraid of doing.
