works for me but has flaws
by Pat (3 out of 5 stars)

Had it for a couple months now. 73yoF, here, so I need help getting groceries up the 19 steps to my 2nd floor apt. I think this cart is going to be invaluable. Hauling stuff up here has been the only drawback to the many benefits of upper floor living.

Weighed it. 11.4 lbs with the bag.

Pros:
-Definitely makes getting up the stairs easier.
-Carries at least 3 times as much as I can normally handle
-Optional, well designed bag available
-Bag is excellent, if it's attached properly with its velcro straps
-Sits on each step, so user can rest
-Wheels turn easily
-Wheels climb just fine on my open steps. Opening is 5".
-Didn't need a half hour break before I put the groceries away, which used to be the case making 5 or 8 trips up those steps carrying heavy loads.
-Yellow. My favorite color.

Cons:
-Hard to make sure the wheels are locked open.
-Major design flaw is that, when the car is upright and resting on the front brace, even a slight nudge forward can unlock the wheels and start them folding. I dropped a star off for this. Even sitting on an incline could cause a collapse. Wish I knew of a way to brace the wheels open.
-Accidentally kicking one of the protruding wheels can nudge it just enough to start it folding.
-Lot of dead weight at 11.4 pounds. I'd pay more for something as strong or stronger made from lighter materials.
-Lot of plastic. Not sure how long it will last.

Hope Trifold is reading these comments. Others have wished for lighter, stronger, even faced with higher cost.

Don't waste your money.
by Lanela (1 out of 5 stars)

It seemed like it would work great, but it didn't work at all. It was hard just bringing up a 24 case of water up the stairs. I tried bringing up a 69 pound package and the bottom part snapped off. This was only my third time using it. I had it a month and it broke on me. The metal handle bent. I was able to bend it back, sort of. It's complete trash. I'd hate to see how much more damage this would do trying to haul anything that is over 50 pounds. I found out trying to bring a 69 pound package how flimsy this was. It was a waste of money and there is no getting a refund on it. Its not made well at all. And it's past the 30 days for returns. If I wanted to return it I'd have to pay for shipping back on it.

Works well, but limited use

I was so impressed with the videos of this cart that I knew I wanted one. It folds well, is a champ on stairs, and is easy to manage. There is one design flaw that sort of changes my plans for its use. The hinges are in the way if one wants to haul plastic storage boxes or larger boxes. Round things fit well, and smaller or things put in the bag would work. I wanted to use it like a dolly, it is limited. The platform and space between the hinges is only 16 1/2 inches. I wanted it to move my big heavy sewing machine that is over 20 inches wide.

Major Damage, Cart Unusable
by Kathleen S. (1 out of 5 stars)

The wheels came off immediately, no screws to hold the wheels on; I tried to open the legs were not attached properly, one side was hanging, the hinges on the sides were in different positions they did not work. Seems to me that someone set this back, and retailer turned around and put it in a box that unfortunately came to me. I am so disappointed... can you image no screws to hold the wheels on! In my opinion this was deliberately destroyed, I can see a wheel coming off.. oh yes I looked in the box for the screws, no screws, but that was the least of the damage. Just got this cart less then 30 minutes ago, and it is packed up, label printed, ready to take to UPS tomorrow morning. I am going to try this one more time as I need something like this to help take things up and down stairs. I will update when I receive another one.

It is hard for me to believe that a seller would send merchandise damaged to this degree.

Worthless. Plastic feet broke after several uses under 20 lbs, hinges falling off, cannot put anythi
by disappointed user (1 out of 5 stars)

The concept of the cart is admirable. The functionality of it is useless. As the cart stands upright with nothing on it, the back support leans forward 3 inches, now giving you a base of 4 1/2" to load your item on. The bracket you see in front to give it legs to stand on when upright is plastic and after a couple of uses have broken and the hinges are falling off, as they are only plastic pegs in a hole. It is only useable for things less than 16" wide. Even then your items need to be strapped on (not included) or it falls forward when you attempt to tip it back to move. OK, not rocket science to use a strap. The footplate has 7 holes the largest 2 which are 5" X 4". When I placed grocery bags or soft items on it as they fell through the holes. It is rated for 100 lbs. If your item does not have a completely flat base you better be able to lift your 100 lbs and relocate it hoping the holes can line up with anything uneven on the underside of your item. The hinges are on the inside of the footer, and attach to the footer 3" from the back upright, leaving you with 4 1/2 inches to place your item. The angle and position of the hinges prevent you from placing anything crosswise. I tried to carry 2 small duffel overnight bags, they kept falling off both side directions before I could get a strap around it. Once on I managed to get it strapped they kept falling sideways still off because the hinges would keep it tipped forward and away from the back brace giving no support.. I had high hopes, but have found it to be not functional and of poor design and quality. I cannot wait to return this broken and useless item.

Fatal design flaw
by Aussie (2 out of 5 stars)

Has good mechanisms and is a good idea, poorly executed. I can't find much use for it and wish I never bought it. This is because of a major design flaw. Look carefully at the pictures (wish I had). You can't put anything on it that is more than 16 or 16.5 inches wide because of the distance between the hinges for the carry tray. The only common item I have that fits are those folding cardboard boxes that you get from office supply stores. It's actually very good for them, but not much else. Also there is no included bungee cord or tie down strap or any other way of stabilizing the load. Needs a redesign to be worth anywhere near this price. And yes I have 2 engineering degrees, so you can trust what I say.

I was taught never to go to your boss with a problem unless you also go with a solution. The only solution I have found is to put something of the proper width and depth on the bottom and then pile wider items on top. But this adds weight and top heavy instability. Did the company ever try actually using this product? I would have fired the designers (as I have in other companies).

Great idea, Works great.

This is more of a 4.5 star rating. This is a great product. It works as described. Check out their website to watch the videos if you are not sure what it is all about. I have difficulty carrying objects up and down the stairs because of peripheral neuropathy. Now I am able to carry clothes baskets from the basement to the second floor of my house. I would have liked a wider wheel and a longer handle. Now in all fairness, I am 6' 6" so the handle will be OK for the majority of people. You really need to use a bungie cord to carry things so they do not fall off. It folds up with ease which makes it easy to carry and store. It is not that heavy and I think most elderly people would not have any trouble. It would be nice if they actually provided the cost of replacement parts on their website. I am also thrilled as I think I actually purchased the last one in stock before the holidays!

Great product and works great on stairs. But one big disappointment.

Works great, with one flaw, hard to get a bigger box on it and has a weird design where it's not flat across the back so hard to get a box to sit on it properly.

Wonderful stair climbing product!
by C. Fry,Top Contributor: Pets (5 out of 5 stars)

I purchase another brand cart that came in broken and hard to handle. This gem is sturdy and so so easy to use. I have a bad back and no garage so have to carry packages from the back of the van in the drive into the house up a few stairs. If the item is heavy I just can't handle it in one fell swoop...would have to get out and shove it around to the steps, come back later and put it up to the top of the steps, and come back later...etc., etc., etc. You get the drift. Except for taking anything heavy out of the car, once in the bag bundle it is smooth as peanut butter getting it in the house! LOVE IT!

I saw some complaints about the piece of metal at the corners of the platform that keep you from putting anything long on the platform and they are right. You can't use it for just anything. It is to carry groceries, bags, small boxes, etc. not to transport you couch, a long TV, or any other various shaped items. With the bag I can get a lot packed into one trip, but don't like to make it heavy as then I find it harder to pull and that isn't great for my back either.

Very disappointed overall
by Sage Dakota (3 out of 5 stars)

The cart does help reduce the overall weight of what is being carried up and down stairs. It's easier to use on stairs than a regular cart because of the special wheels. However, there are several problems with the design and function of this product.

The base is too small. I bought the deluxe cart so that I could put somewhat larger items on it. Even in carrying groceries or laundry with the deluxe bag, things are spreading way too far beyond the base. The little lip that is along the back of the base makes it very difficult to put larger items on it. In that sense that part of it is not designed like a handcart/dolly, and I think it should be.

As others have said in their reviews, the wheels are not sturdy enough. The tire part of it should be made of something softer and less brittle. I found the wheels make a lot of noise going up and down the stairs and I was concerned about bothering my neighbors in the apartment building. The spokes of the wheels are made of plastic. Although I'm sure it makes the cart a little bit lighter, it made the wheels not as sturdy. It would have been better if they had been made with metal.

The cart is extremely difficult to fold. I found very early on that the directions written on there for folding it were incorrect. I did figure out that I needed to pull up on the base to fold it, not push on it. However, it was very very difficult to fold especially after I had just had something very heavy sitting on it. The last time I folded it I kept pulling and pulling and I could not get it folded. I had to push on it with my foot and finally give it a couple of good kicks to fold it and I ended up breaking the cart. Why? Because huge areas of this cart are made out of plastic!

It helped get me through my move into my new apartment, but if there's another option for a similar better made product out there, I would go with that. Otherwise, the manufacturers/designers need to go back to the drawing board and make some improvements on this model. The concept and premise of it is good, but there are design problems.
