Very disappointed.

Opened it once to test. When I opened it the second time it broke. It will not lock into open position and if it does you can't close it. Very disappointed.

Waste of Money
by Larry (1 out of 5 stars)

Don't waste your money. Broke after opening and closing 7 times. The first 6 opening and closing was a test. The 7th opening, when it broke was 2 days after the 30 day warranty expired. Interior plastic spokes are as weak as toothpicks. Three of the 20some spokes snapped off at their base.

Not good news. I bought 2 Better Brella's
by Paul (2 out of 5 stars)
January 23, 2017

Not good news. I bought 2 Better Brella's, one for me and one for my wife. We were testing/trying them out and my wifes Better Brella broke. It no longer would stay opened. I compared my better brella to my wifes and I could see a ring at the inside positon of the top of the better brella had broken. It would no longer stay opened. This happened after opening and closing the better brella only a couple of times. Was disappointed to say the least and even worse I had thrown the shipping carton away otherwise I would have shipped it back. Its quite a long shipping carton and I believe it would have cost me more than I was willing to spend to buy a box.

I think this is the first no so good review I have ever given!

Regards,

Paul

Contacted company, Will keep reviewers updated. (Latest 1/26/17)

Recieved a broken product. There is a small plastic part that keeps the umbrella from opening too far and putting the proper amount of tension on the umbrella. This part was broken when I recieved my umbrella. I find it silly that something as expensive as this works on a part so fragile. It looked and felt like a very sturdy and good product, however, with a small plastic part being the weakest link, it wont last very long to anyone who uses it.

I Have contacted Emson (The company who sells this) for a response to this issue (1/26/17). I told them of the issues their product has and to see if they are willing to back their product and send a new one. I will update this as soon as I hear back. If there is no update to this post, then it means that I never recieved a response.

BetterBrella needs better sewing
by TCRI (2 out of 5 stars)
January 16, 2017

Nice idea and the only brand that has a point at the top, so that it can be sort-of a cane, however the inside lining when opened (which is the outside lining when closed since it closes in reverse) is only loosely sewn around the end of each rib, the item, when I received it, opened it up the first time and the lining was hanging down at one rib point and there were loose threads at the end where is only sewn there with a few stitches at each rib. It seems they did everything else right about this "Better Brella" but they need to sew it better. I returned it.

The handle came off just trying to pull it from the plastic bag. It was a pain to get it to click into place when opening. Thankful for a full refund.

Defective and cheap construction
by Linda Travels (1 out of 5 stars)

This umbrella broke the second time I used it. It got stuck in the open position and refuses to close. I stood and fought with it outside a restaurant in the pouring rain and it stubbornly didn't budge. I put it in the back of my car so as not to have to abandon it on the sidewalk. I don't know how I'm going to be able to send it back -- the box would have to be huge because the umbrella is stuck in the fully open position! Obviously very cheaply made.

Apparently works fine if it's not raining.

This certainly sounded like a good idea. An umbrella that opens in a unique way to better help keep you dry. I have to say that it worked perfectly the one time I opened it in the house to see how it worked. But the next time I opened it was outside in the rain. I was trying to keep my 101 year old mother dry as I took her to a doctor's appointment. I opened the umbrella and the umbrella went limp. I have included a picture of what the umbrella looks like. Keep in mind this was only the second time I opened it. Needless to say I and my mother both got wet. Also needless to say, I'm returning this useless product.

The best umbrella!
by Kevin (5 out of 5 stars)

This is a great umbrella! It closes "inside out" so when it is closed you don't get water on yourself, your car, or your floors. It is windproof and doesn't blow inside out. It is worth the extra money vs a standard umbrella--once you have this you will never buy an umbrella at the drugstore again. I liked it so well I bought another one for my father for a gift.

Update--one of the internal spokes broke after only a few uses and started poking through the fabric. However, I am still giving this five stars because I returned it and was refunded promptly, and the one I gave as a gift is still working. So I suspect the defect was an anomaly.

Good dea but needs some work
by J. S. Miller (2 out of 5 stars)

I was excited when I saw this I ordered two. Disappointment on the first rainy day.
1) It should open by itself first of all.
2) Okay it's manual, but it's tricky to get it to stay open. It barely wants to stay open on day one, so I imagine that it will fail completely soon.
3) biggest disappointment is that when you close it up supposedly it holds all the water, but it leaks badly. So it will still drip water all over the place.
4) second, it needs a second handle on top. After you close it up you have to hold the umbrella vertically or else all the water will come pouring out. Which actually will anyway (see #3)
5) poorly constructed. Feels like it's going to come apart or break at any minute. I'm pretty sure the mechanism that holds it open won't last a year maybe not a month.

Overall for $20 I'm not too angry, it works okay (for now) but you pretty much still need a plastic bag or it will drip all over the place.
